OT: MP3 and VIA 82cxxx [Was: Re: How can I hear MIDI with an SB AWE 128?]
While on the subject - I have an on board sound VIA 82cxxx sound
card (ac97). When I used kernel 2.2.15 it didn't work, but 2.2.16
fixed the problem and it is working. Well almost. The strange thing
is, I can use the card to listen to wav files. However, when I try to
play mp3 files with either xmms (latest version) or mpg123, all I hear
is strange souns and noise. I tried doing the usual stuff of
cat /dev/sndstat , cat /proc/modules , less /var/log messages,
removing and inserting the modules again, but noghing. I can listen to
mp3 files with this sound card on Doz, btw. Any ideas?
TIA,
Yosi
