OT - ADSL on Linux

Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but there are a few Linux users on ADSL and
this information could be very important to them.

As you know, we don't have the **privilege** of using the Bezeq Portal
which is installed on Windows machines to allow choosing which ISP we want to
use. The connection via PPTP bypasses that nonsense. **BUT**, please note that
despite the fact that the ADSL experiment is continuing until 20/12/00, two of
the ISPs have started to charge for connection to the service. If you connect
to guest@OActcom or guest@OIsrasrv, you will be charged by the minute on your
phone bill !!!!! Beware!!!!

After hearing this from a Bezeq tech support person, I checked the price and
was told that Actcom charges 25 cents per connection + 12 cents per minute. So,
if you're on ADSL for an hour via Actcom, you will pay more than $7. Windows
users can see this price on the Bezeq portal, but we can't.

BTW - In a letter I got from Bezeq today, it says that if you don't want to
continue after the**experiment** is over on 20/12/00, you must notify them by
15/12/00. If you don't, they will start to charge you 149 shekels a month. I
think this is NOT LEGAL. We agreed to be part of the experiment. We did not
sign a contract to get the commercial ADSL service, and I don't think it's legal
for them to charge us. It should be the other way around. If you want to
continue, sign up and agree to pay. If you don't sign up, Bezeq should
disconnect the service and not charge you. IMHO.
