Worst case scenario - erased my partition table
Hi there,
It's certainly unpleasent: I have a dual boot machine which I wanted to
change it's Win98 to Win98 OSR2. somehow in the process I booted the Dos
v6.22 original disskette and it kindly, unpromptly, simply discarded all
of my H.D. partition table ! (some of the other linux partitions where
on an extended partition and the primary boot partition was a FAT32 -
that's perhaps why it did so).
Anyway, I'm left with a nice useless H.D without it's partition table,
but all the data, at least on the Linux partitions, is safe & sound.
I tried Norton Disk Doctor (NDD) latest version but although it's manual
says it will reconstruct erased/damaged partition tables, its searching
and reviving only DOS partitions (FAT/FAT32), leaving me without the
Linux partitions.
I dont need to the data on the windows partitions (which was partially
formatted anyway), and - thats important - I have another dual boot
machine which I can connect the H.D. to to use other Linux or Dos
utilities.
Could you advise me on how to revive my disk ? perhaps Linux/Unix
utilities ?
TIA,
Boaz.
