Re: IGLU's uptime
Yes, numbers can be tricky, but in reality (feedback I got from friends that
host computers overseas) there's not such thing as a 'UPS failure' in
serious ISPs (not to mention router failing - which happens about once every
month to every Israeli ISP). The reality is 100% uptime, with 99.9% being a
number 'for the lawyers' (i.e. to avoid being sued if something goes wrong).
One of the nice stories I heard (Feel free to correct me, GBY: I'm reciting
from memory) is that the American ISP gave a week notice before switching to
an alternate router. During this upgrade the server was available, but from
a different route (the backup route). Despite that, they still gave a week
notice 'just in case'.
Such service that I could only wish for (or keep on dreaming)...
[Just to make things clear: The price for a colocation in the US is the same
if not lower than the cost here. It's just the service that's different].
