I know, but window-management is a part of their functionality, and
that's just about the only thing I am really interested in. What I
meant was that I (as a user) have little need for all the bells and
whistles that are associated with a "desktop environment". I usually
need to open a few applications in different windows, and occasionally
move those windows around a few "virtual screens". I don't use any of
the uncool k- or g- tools and never bothered to learn what most of
them look like. I prefer xterms to either kterm or - is it gterm? not
sure. I use Navigator rather than whatever web browser is supplied
with either environment. And I don't like the idea that kfm is running
somewhere behind the scenes - I hate file managers, but I can't get
rid of this one, only hide it.
Does anyone know how I can get rid of the very annoying Trash,
Templates, and Autostart icons on the KDE desktop? Are they essential
to KDE's operation the way kfm is? I already removed everything else,
but these seem to be more obstinate.
