if the qpopper didn't see the NIS-space users I would have assumed it
would refuse to authenticate altogether, so I guess that's not the
problem, I suspect it DOES see it but has another problem, like maybe the
UID is too high? linux uses 16 bit UIDs, could it be you are using a
Solaris NIS server with UIDs over 2^16, i.e. 65,000 or so and up?
