RE: The HOWTO-ADSL-BEZEQ

First of all, thanks for the HOWTO and all the work that went into writing it.

I'll let you know after it's installed here, but before that, I have a few
questions about the procedure you describe.

I assume that the introduction about WINDOWS is provided for informational
purposes and that in fact, all this will be done by the BEZEQ guy who will be
coming? I was told I'd be charged 230 shekels for the equipment and
installation by BEZEQ. Is this your experience too?

I assume this NIC would be in addition to the one I already have to connect my
LINUX box to my home network and that this second NIC is provided by BEZEQ. Am
I right?

Since I don't yet have an unlimited connection to my Internet Provider but pay
by the hour, can I connect and disconnect whenever I want? I know the whole
point of ASDL is to be always on, but until I do get an unlimited account and
until I deal with security issues, I can't afford to be **always on**.

I was told I can choose from a number of providers and change whenever I want
to. Do you have details of how that works?

I assume the Mandrake LOTHAR utility will detect the new NIC so that shouldn't
be a problem.

That's the version on Mandrake 7.0 but I haven't yet checked if the source is
included so all I have to do now is find the source and figure aout how to
compile it. I have compiled kernels before, but never anything as simple as a
utility :-).

as I asked earlier, what about connecting and disconnecting when I want to or
connecting to a different provider?

My last (for now) but most important question, is what files must I back up
before beginning so I can restore things if I screrw up? I don't want to end
up not being able to use my modem connection if I need to cry for help on the
list.

TIA
