Re: PCI modem

I had a Zoltrix 56K PCI Win/LinModem that recently died on the latest
storms.
I now have 36 ISA PNP BOCA modem (which my win98 did not recongnized, I had
to convince him that it was another 28K Boca)
and my computer works ... slower. I always thought that with a software
modem my computer should work slower (it is supposed to take % from the CPU.

I did not tried to connect with it to the internet (I am using surfree). But
the new hardware modem is recignized by linux.

What is the problem with HSP modems? As long as it's a PCTEL based chip, you
can find a driver for it (kernelz 2.4 or d/l the driver from
www.zoltrix.com)?
