For a little and fast client you can take with you on a floppy,
I'd recommend putty. Putty also has very good keyboard setup
allowing most of the special keys. TIP: You always might be
better to set up terminal type to VT220, rather than XTERM.

TeraTerm by itself is a good terminal software, and you can use
the SSH addition for it. Unlike putty, it allows file transfers
(via Z-Modem protocol etc, like BSSes) and login using a private
RSA key (a thing Putty's author said he's not planning to do).
But then, it has worser key setup, and is more than a single
file (unlike putty.exe which you can simply throw into
c:\windows\command\).

OpenSSH is very sane and standard in installation and configuration,
and if you grab the RPMs/DEBs, it should be ever easier.
Do yourself a favour and use OpenSSH, instead of the old messy one.
