Actually, it's surprisingly easy. You should use "rsync". I used it
myself for exactly this purpose. :-) I don't remember the exact
command line that I used, but it was something very similar to this:
mv mandrake70.iso mandrake70-2.iso
rsync -a -B 8192 --stats sunsite.org.uk::public/packages/Mandrake/iso/mandrake70-2.iso .
All in all, it transferred 18 MB through the network, which is quite
afffordable. Be sure you have some free diskspace before, though,
because rsync writes to a temporary file first (copying the identical
parts from the original), and only then overwrites the original.
