Linux RH 6.0 serving NFS to Solaris 7 clients

Hi!

My company uses Linux as NFS server for Solaris 7 clients.

Linux RH6.0 out of box.
Solaris 7 using "vers=2" mount option.

To say the least it does not work very well.
It is *very* slow and gets stuck every time there is a little I/O
for example compilation running.

I know it is a known problem.

Can anyone tip me with some way to improve the situation?
Different NFS implementation for Linux?
Some "magic" mount options on Solaris side?

Thank you in advance for your help,
