check if netscape (run as a normal user) can access sites whose address
you supply using an IP address, rather then using a host name (e.g.
http://192.118.70.2 <-- walla's address).

if this works, check permissions of files such as /etc/resolv.conf (try
reading it under that normal user) and /etc/nsswitch.conf .

another possibility - does ezppp set up the DNS address for you when you
dial out (i know that kppp has such an option) - if so - it might fail
updating the /etc/resolv file when run as a normal user - does ezppp have
the SUID bit on? (i.e. when 'ls -l /path/to/ezppp', the output line begins
with a '-rws' rather then with '-rwx')? it should - if it should update
the /etc/resolv.conf file (or this can be done using other methods). don't
set the SUID bit on ezppp unless it is documented to be the proper way for
its installation, thought.
