My dear chap, the 2.3.99-pre6 (and -pre8) are still experimental. They have not been exhaustively tested. They have not been compiled with all possible
permutations of config flags. Nothing is _supposed_ to be user friendly. The computer (or, indeed, the kernel) doen't give an owls ass about the user. You either
make it work or fail to make it work. More fun that way!
