Thanks. I thought there might be a problem due to the fact that (as I
understand) the connection between the ADSL "modem" and the computer is done
on a private IP space (sort of masquerading ?).
how did you find out the external IP of the ADSL "modem" ? do you get it
assigned when you sign up for the service ? if not, can I get a permanent IP
from Bezeq?

only one problem - I can't maintain a 128Kbps connection - it drops a few
minutes after I peek over 64Kbps with annoying error messages, and then I
can't reconnect until I unload the driver and the ISDN system and reinit it.
I concluded it has to do with the lousy modems I have, or the driver (on the
kernel config it is marked EXPERIMENTAL). either way, I have to change the
modem to get dual channel (not that the single channel I currently get is
very stable - it's not). since a good new modem sells for around 800NIS
(which probably explains why my modems are so lousy - I got both for less
then 800), I figured it's cheaper to get ADSL - I lived with 64kbps for so
long, I can live a little longer. and later I can dispose of the ISDN line
that costs twice as much as a normal line.
I'd like to hear any opinions to the contrary.
Thanks
