Will you people EVER learn to:
1. Trim quoted text;
2. Put your reply _after_ the quoted original text?
It's somewhat confusing to read something like "No, only since
version 7.4.6" in message with subject like "Help with Linux",
and then read fifteen lines of the original message (two levels
of quoting), a copy of signature files, (one and a half
screenfulls), and the reply to the original message, to which
the five words above are the reply. Two days after you deleted
the rest of the messages in this thread, so even if you read this
list in a threading mailer (which I do), you don't see this
message immediately after the original message.
Please understand that (a) signatures are just waste of bandwith
and three hundred times disk space (and there are people who have
mailbox quotas and/or use slow modem lines), so while they're OK
in general, they're not really great when included six times,
same about irrelevant parts of the text quoted twelve levels
down, and (b) people would actually like to read mail as a
real-time question-and-answer thingie. Imagine that:
Paul: Alright, thanks. At home, mostly.
John: How are you, Paul? Where have you been?
Next time you'll be shouted at in Latin.
Vadik.
