Linux Printing Problem
I have a printing problem with my Linux, while printing works fine under
Windows 98. Any job I send to lpd, whether ASCII or postscript, does not
print. Moreover, the three test functions in the RedHat printtool do not
work (including sending an ASCII test page directly to the parallel port).
I have a RedHat 6.1 system with kernel 2.2.12, glibc 2.1.2, lpr 0.48,
ghostscript 5.10. My Printer is Epson Stylus 740 Color. I remember printing
to have worked on my system. Yet, I don't remember if it was RedHat 6.1 or
still RedHat 6.0.
I tried changing the port mode in the BIOS to both EPP and SSP, but it
doesn't work in any of them. Furthermore, changing the kernel to 2.2.10 did
not cause it to work either.
Note that I have a "alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc" line in my
/etc/conf.modules file.
Thanks in advance,
Shlomi Fish
