Philip Greenspun lectures in Tel Aviv this week
Ira just posted a note along these lines to linux.org.il, but I'll
risk repeating the announcement because it's such good news:
Philip Greenspun -- a recent PhD from MIT, head of ArsDigita, an
amazing author and speaker, and probably the most famous guru of Web
sites and databases -- will be speaking at Tel Aviv University later
this week. His talks are free (as always), and I'm sure he'll be a
great speaker. The lecture is not specifically about Linux, but
Greenspun is a big Unix and open-source advocate, and I'm sure that
most Linux hackers will enjoy what he has to say.

Philip writes:
I'm giving a (free) Web application design course at Tel Aviv
University on Wednesday and Thursday next week (June 14,15) and
thought that, since you're a photo.net user, you might be interested
in attending.
On Wednesday I'm covering "why". What kinds of Web applications are
worth building and the best ways in which to use the Internet. It is
good for a general audience but also software developers and business
people. On Thursday I'm covering "how". Tools and techniques for
actually building ecommerce sites, online communities, and
intranets. This is appropriate for technical people and business
people who have actually started a company.
The courses start at 10:00 AM and end around 5:00 PM. They are free
but I'm asking people to register because we don't yet know how large
a room to reserve. Course details and registration are at
http://www.arsdigita.com/events/.
