No need to install the modules. Actually, the modules are compiled when you
first configure VMWare and are loaded automagically.

I think VMWare can't work as a non-privledged user. In any case, it's
advisable to remove the setuid bit that is by default enabled for VMWare,
and run as root (which I think you must).
