how did you crush it? a D10 tractor maybe?

I had machines crAsh on me on rare occasions. it made me angry but I
never though it warrented crUshing it

Listen to your kernel, he's older and smarter than you. Whoever sold you
the machine probably didn't stress-test it enough (they DID do a 2-3 day
burn-in, right?). Companies that sell machines with .5G ram on them
should be able to provide you with memory test software. If they don't,
you are working with the wrong company.

all on the same disk? what's the point? also if you are indeed running a
proxy, you REALLY want the swap on seperate disk, or even controller.
Then again, only 9 gigs disk with .5 gig RAM sounds a bit
disproportional. you are possibly using too little disk and CPU for the
task anyway (but I don't know how large your userbase is)
