subba, i think that if you play with this for a bit, you'll realize that
sound alerts tend to be VERY annoying, and disturb people in the area. if
your system emits alerts in a rate that could cause 2 or 3 different
sounds at the same time - i'd suggest you choose a different method.

why? you only need to know that there is any alert on the system - then
you'll go look at a summary paeg that shows you all alerts that currently
exist, so you could fix them... you'll loose your sanity if you'll have an
automatic organ playing music there...
just as a technical idea - use any type of job queuing system to queue the
sound playing operations... but for the sake of you and your busy sys
admins - DON'T DO IT!
