look under /proc somewhere, there's a "file" that will tell you the RAID
status, if unsynched, it will tell you how many minutes till full
synch. it's standard procedure when you stick a new disk into a RAID,
really, and not just under Linux.

I once put a RAID5 with a 2.0 kernel on a 486, three 7gig hard disks
(two on Vesa Localbus, one on ISA!) and it took about 10 hours to
synch. this is less space, newer kernel, and faster CPU+controller, it
should take under an hour.
