These keys are not requrired, unless you want to login without a password.

  The ssh_host_key (private key) identifies your host, to prevent (to some 
extent) man-in-the-middle attack. The public key that goes with it is
transferred to the client automatically upon connection and is stored (the
first time) in the .ssh/known_hosts file. Your problem is ssh is not setup
correctly, and I suggest re-running "make install" from the disrtibution
directory (after doing "configure" and "make" ofcourse).
