Hi,
Regarding to learning a specific linux distribution - now THATS a bad
habbit. I suggest for you to learn any Linux dist. you want - but look at
others sometimes (example - install VMWare on your machine, and install on
top of it a SuSE evaluation to see and "feel" any differences. Same thing
about Debian)
Regarding packaging - other DEB and RPM I know only the .tar.gz, and lately
gz.sh which is an executable script which includes the gzipped file. I
think its being used in Quake 3.
