What about dumb mode (using 2 wires of the RS232 connector for "ON BAT" and
"BAT IS LOW", or something similar)? I believe that NUT's genericdriver does
it.

Was using NUT's powercom driver gave any meaningful results at all? When was
the
last time you tried it? How come that Advice and Powercom use the same
protocol?

When was that? Did you asked him to email the protocol to you?

Perhaps we should arrange a queue in order for him to get once in 2 days one
message
saying that "I am using Linux and support free software. Can you release your
protocol so that I will be able to take full advantage of your products"?
For that we need to agree on some common text and to appoint someone to remind
the
members when is their turn to email him. The Only thing I would change in those
emails is the subject line so that he will actually need to open the text.
But that is spam, isn't it?
