Hi list. Please tell me what I miss:
I have a server with export points, all - on different partitions.
I export them through /etc/exports, 3 of them read-only to all users, and 1 -
with read-write permissions.
/users/user1 user1(rw)
/users/user2 user2(rw)
/users/user3 user3(rw)
..
/users/userN userN(rw)
(Of course, machines user[1-N] are known to DNS, users have same UID and GID
on their machines and server.)
# It's kind a all-available space, cleaned every weekend
/export/public 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0(rw,root_squash)
# Read-only directory, software storage
/data/software 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0(ro)
# /home/cervisia
/home/cervisia 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0(rw)
My (and everyone's) /etc/fstab looks like this:
1. server:/export/public /mnt/public nfs defaults 1 1
2. server:/users/user1 /mnt/backup nfs defaults 1 1
3. server:/data/software /mnt/software nfs
ro,dev,auto,exec,nouser,async 1 1
4. server:/home/cervisia /home/cervisia nfs defaults 1 2
When mounting with mount -a I get "Permission denied" on mountpoint 2.
Three others are mounted OK.
df shows:
server:/export/public
24630740 2739904 20639660 12% /mnt/public
server:/data/software
15160256 2878712 11511444 21% /mnt/software
server:/home/cervisia
14059896 2625156 10720536 20% /home/cervisia
Then I go to server and do
"exportfs user1:/users/user1 -o rw" and then
mount -t nfs server:/users/user1 /mnt/backup and it succeeds, but one of
previously mounted points (or sometimes all three) gets lost:
server:/export/public
0 1 0 0% /mnt/public
server:/data/software
0 1 0 0% /mnt/software
server:/home/cervisia
0 1 0 0% /home/cervisia
server:/users/user1
24630772 8909900 14469692 39% /mnt/backup
Trying to access, e.g., /mnt/public results in message
"Stale NFS file handle"
In short, I never got all four mounts work on any machine. What I do manually
is totally the same to what is written in /etc/exports and /etc/fstab.
I tried to increase RPCNFSDCOUNT from 8 to 16, then 24, then 32 - to no avail.
I'm sure what I miss is some small peace of configuration. If you see what I
didn't please help.
P.S. It's RedHat 7.1 on both server and clients.
Thank all
MAx.
