Automount ? Try set the CD to plain iso9660 user mountable.

There couple of other init scripts that can do the mount job. Those can be
set for root only. Then you can return you fstab to normal.

 At least in the case of SMB (the version with current Linuses) it can
authenticate using the combination of machine and user (although I didn't
tried it).
