7.2 for 2 CPU i686 (was Re: libc.so.6 with link time reference)

Hi and thank you also to mulix and Nadav Har'El

/etc/issue on my machine:

Red Hat Linux release 7.0 (Guinness)
Kernel 2.2.16-22smp on a 2-processor i686

- so I've decided to upgrade the kernel (after reading through the "Upgrading the kernel in RH"
thread) to 7.2 .
There doesn't seem to be a version of 7.2 for i686 architechture on the huji ftp site (am I wrong?)
so I've been rummaging around the internet. I came across a comment:
"This package includes a SMP version of the Linux kernel. It is required only on machines with two
or more CPUs,...."
so it got me wondering: do I have to look for a different kind of kernel for my machine? I would
have thought
that the regular kernel could handle 2 CPUs as well??
