I didn't say I hate it. I am using an HP IDE CDRW myself. I just know that
Ricoh is considered to be of less quality. Also, if you buy CDRW+DVD you
can't watch a DVD while writing a CD and you tend to get less usability than
a CDRW and a DVD seperately.
I don't hate anything if it works fine under Linux ;)... cdrecord works
with all(most?) modern CD-Writers.
Another suggestion: If you have a slow PC or a slow HD or a very fast
CDRW, you should considering buying one with BURN-PROOF, which prevents
ruined media due to data underflows (cdrecord supports this feature).
