SGI (the company formerly known as Silicon Graphics) has stated that
it would donate its GLX framework to Linux, and that indeed happened
-- you're using it if you're using XFree86 4. It doesn't have anything
to do with DirectX which is another API. The only Linux implementation
of DirectX that I'm aware of is in the Wine project.
