There was that old problem, also on Windows with Winamp and other music
players, which had something to do with the PCI bus and your graphics
card. Scrolling would interfere with your music.
What graphics card do you have?
If not on XFree86 4.0 already, try upgrading (if your card is supported
there). Upgrading to XFree86 4.0 is a good idea in any case.
