As much as I understood, and that was years ago already, the dial-up
customers are really an unprofitable business. The ISPs are trying to
earn from other operations, such as content providing, or maybe
business customers, and are only keeping dial-up customers to keep
their leadership place.

As to ISPs all over the world, where, except for the US (kindom of
backbones) do you get high speeds?

BTW, as I heard from a guy working in the industry, the ADSL modems
also cost a lot, and Bezeq certainly isn't overcharging for them.
