Re: Pentium 4 vs. 3



Thanks for all the replies.

We decided on P3 because of its packaging. We buy the PC in rack mount
package (AKA Pizza), The P3 is 1 U high while the P4 is 2 U high.

Further clarifications: 1. This machine will replace P2 600MH which
is performed satisfactory for 1/2 year, but lately is crashing 2-4
times weekly without explanations (probably hardware problem).
2. The NFS issue. The machine has its own disk (20 GB) for its system,
swap and temp files. All permanent non system files are on NFS mount
and are shared with other Linuxes.
2. It is not for personal use. The machine has 5-9 programmers logged
in and working (editing, compiling, running tests) each day.
