Well, VMWare absolutely supports Linux 2.4.
I use it with kernel 2.4.3, and it works perfectly with my Reiserfs
partitions.

In principle, you are right. However, in practice I hardly ever boot up
a VM -- I just use VMWare's suspend/restore, which means that I can
leave Word open (even across reboots) and it comes up instantly when
needed.

No, sorry. In fact, one of the main reasons I don't use Win4Lin is that
it doesn't work with Hebrew Windows.
As a bottom line, I agree that if all you need is MS Office, Win4Lin
might be a good solution.
