new pptp version - beta testers wanted

hi guys,

there is a new version of the pptp program, version 1.0.3, available at
http://www.scooter.cx/alpha/pptp.html.

this version incorporates several scripts to ease setting up a pptp
connection, and, more importantly, several changes and updates to the
"core" pptp program.

i have ported the pptp patch from 1.0.2 to 1.0.3, with the intent of
submitting it to the developers, in order for it to be folded into the
master distribution. before i do that, i'd like for it to get some
testing with different modems.

so, if you have a working adsl connection and you're wiling to help me
test this patch, here's what you need to do.

1. get the patch from
http://www.pointer.co.il/~mulix/pptp-linux-1.0.3-pptp-mulix-1.0.3.diff

2. get pptp-linux-1.0.3 from
http://www.linuxalpha.compaq.com/pptpclient/files/pptp-linux-1.0.3-1.tar.gz

3. extract the pptp-linux-1.0.3-1.tar.gz archive into a new dirctory. it
will extract into a directory called pptp-linux-1.0.3-1.

4. inside it you will find a directory called pptp-linux-1.0.3/. change
its name to pptp-linux-1.0.3.orig or somesuch.

5. make a new directory, pptp-linux-1.0.3 and copy
pptp-linux-1.0.3.orig/* to it.

6. from the pptp-linux-1.0.3-1 directory, run this command to patch
the source: 'patch -p0 < pptp-linux-1.0.3-pptp-mulix-1.0.3.diff'

7. mv pptp-linux-1.0.3 pptp-mulix-1.0.3

8. cd pptp-linux-1.0.3.orig && make

9. cd pptp-mulix-1.0.3 && make

you should now have, inside the pptp-linux-1.0.3-1 directory two
directories, pptp-linux-1.0.3.orig (the original pptp-1.0.3 sources) and
pptp-mulix-1.0.3 (the patched version). inside each of them will be a
pptp binary.

please try to connect using _both_ binaries. what _should_ happen is
that the one in pptp-mulix will succeed, and the other one wont.
whatever happens, please email me:

a) your modem version, and
b) which (if any) of the pptp versions connected.

thanks in advance!
