I have detached myself from the computer world for only one year and the

Hackers are 2-3 levels above what I call "power users". to put it in the
words of Douglas Adams: "People who use computers for the sole purpose
of using a computer". Hackers use computers to manipulate algorithems,
hack society, play with science and dare common sense with surprising
shortcuts, inventions and improvements on the status quo. Computers for
them are just a tool, not a goal.
