Maybe because "make install" doesn't attempt to detect conflicts, and so
running "make uninstall" later might delete something you already had before?
And maybe because packages may depend on each other, so doing "make
uninstall" on one package might ruin a whole bunch of other things without
you even knowing? Package managers like RPM have all these things, which
makes "rpm -e" an easy and safe way to remove a package. "make uninstall"
would be much less safe.
