Getting a SCSI HD into standby mode

Hi!

I have a SCSI hard drive which I want to bring into standby mode - to
slow down its engine.
I have tried 'hdparm -S 1 /dev/sdb' or -Z or -C.
I got the response:
/dev/sdb:
operation not supported on SCSI disks

How can I get that device into standby mode? Which util, command or
configuration do I have to make?

Thank you very much for your support,
  Ilan Simon
