No problem, if mulix have time to add it to the howto, here it is:
If the modem resyncs often then your wiring is probably at fault and you
need to call 166, they
should check your internal wiring at your home and the junction boxes in
your building. if that doesn't work
ask the technician to change the connection port at your bezeq switchboard.
if it still doesn't work they should try and replace your modem.
If your connection speed is low(we are talking about something around 50kbs
when doing the test with bezeq), and you verified that its low by using the
bezeq test speed, (call 1800-340-340 if you don't know how) call a
technician who should bring a laptop to check the speed. if the speed is
really low, he should change the port at the bezeq switchboard.
If you get:
log[pptp_dispatch_ctrl_packet:pptp_ctrl.c:650]: Error '2' opening call.
[callid 0]
May 31 16:27:18 LinuxRules (unknown)[21345]:
log[pptp_dispatch_ctrl_packet:pptp_ctrl.c:651]: Error code is '3', Cause
code is '0'
your modem probably is disconnected from the switchboard.
If you get "LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests", your redback at bezeq
probably is experiencing difficulties or it is rebooting because of an
overload. the problem could also be you have some configuration problem, but
if your connection was up and now it is down, it is highly unlikely. you
should call 1800-340-340 and ask whats up, or wait a few minutes until the
redback reboots (if it is the case).
If you get "PAP authentication failed" the problem is with your ISP whose
authentication service to the redback is broken or the communication lines
between the ISP and the redback is down. In any case its an ISP problem. And
of course this applies only if the connection worked before, because it also
indicated that you entered a false password, though most ISPs will supply a
proper message that will be displayed on your logs as a pppd message,
usually saying that you entered a wrong password or something like "Remote
message: Check item NAS-Port-Type expression '/^(ISDN|Async|Virtual|Sync)$/'
does not match 'ADSL' in request" which means your account haven't been
enabled to handle adsl connection but only regular modems, which is the case
with bezeq international where you need to wait 2 days for your account to
be re-enabled and you have a modem connection for the meantime.

well, care to share the information with us, and make more debugging tips
available for inclusion in the HOWTO?
