pcre is available from cooker. It seems that the developer who prepared
this distro orgot to include this package.
I have also needed libogg and libvorbis . Both are availble from Mandrake
8. NAtuarally, with the rpm 4 and glibc 2.2 dependency, I haven't tried to
use the binary.
1. download libvorbis0-1.0-0.beta4.1mdk.src.rpm and
libogg0-1.0-0.beta4.1mdk.src.rpm
2. built libogg and installed it (including the libogg-devel, required for
building libvorbis)
3. built libvorbis and installed it
4. build pcre
At this point I got into some problems, as pcre's build process has
failed, with an error message about libtool problem:
libtool: ltconfig version `' does not match ltmain.sh version `1.3.3'
Fatal configuration error. See the libtool docs for more information.
Since I didn't want to bother mach with patches and such, I did an ugly
correction: setting LTCONFIG_VERSION in the rpm spec file:
LTCONFIG_VERSION="1.3.3"
export LTCONFIG_VERSION
before runinng 'make'
5. install libpcre0 and pcre

It seems it is not needed anymore.
I have manually removed (rpm -e) the old kdenetwork to be able to remove
the old kdesupport. Then I noticed that the new kdenetwork provides
libmimelib.so.1 for itself .
qt source RPM is missing...

(All of the translations that _are_ there are 44MB, out of a total of
136MB)
Anyway, I am finally able to build QT and KDE programs...
