I get the feeling that there is a fair bit of sloppyness in all the mainline
distros of late, probably due to to "commercial considerations". Before I do an
upgrade/install I always check the net for the latest "horror stories".
For example, the SuSE 7.3 upgrade using the GUI interfaces may trash your system.
For example, if you have a Matrox G400 (like me), the X install will hang the
process unless you recompile the kernel with framebuffers disabled.
And a few more such things.
The fact is, Linux is a serious system, unless you use the expert mode for
install/upgrade, you're asking for trouble.
This should be worrying to the advocacy people. More another time.

(damn windows) i somehow managed to enter the ntfs partition fix the registry from a temp backup it made, log in to windows, only to find the disk drive letter changed which now windows decided is so bad that it must: log into my account and immediatly save and exit it with no reason!? (DAMMMn windows!!!), fewwe, k steady urself, u already lost 7 hrs on the damn thing trying to muddle thru. k now resintall(upgrade?!) windows/fix it. k, it loads. but wait! to my horror the registry relates all applications reinalled to the new disk and the old registry tags to the new disk.
