You keep bringing up the "education" you have. What kind of "education"
would they expect a kid to have? a Ph.D. in computer science? A RHCE?
No way. The question is not what your education is, but rather what you
know. If you show them that you are a Unix (or Windows, or whatever) guru,
I doubt they'll care where you learned it. Even if you're not a guru, but
are just quite good at it, it might be ok.

If on the other hand, you know barely nothing about computers, except how
to play games on PCs, then indeed, don't be surprised if the army isn't
thrilled about taking you as a sysadmin (of course, if they are short on
people then they can take any smart person and teach him or her to be a
sysadmin; Such people are usually forced to sign on for a few more years).
