check out few things:
1. xdpyinfo -queryExtensions
compare the unmber of extentions in both places.
2. run 'gtop' (as root) , search for the entry of 'X', right-click on it,
chose 'memory maps' and choose' graphical'. you'll get a very detailed
memory map. do the same at work. compare.
and stop being so negative :P~~~ . there are no wonders here - something
is different between your home and work setup. it just takes some checking
and imagination to find out what's the difference. no need to assume its
some mythical issue ;)
