TriTech TR28023 is the mixer chip on your SB Live board. There are no
separate mixer device drivers on Linux, so that's what you really have.
You'd probably find this chip if you'll look at the chips on the card.

Are you sure it doesn't sound as clear? Maybe something with the cables
that causes static to be introduced? Try turning the speakers' volume
up, while not playing anything, and try muting the CD and Line-In mixer
controls - one of them might introduce constant noise to your music.
