ok, i'm guessing here. try reducing the mtu and mru to a lower value. for
example:
pppd ....... mtu 1400 mru 1400 .....
another thing to try: adding the option 'noauth' to pppd - althought this
doesn't seem to be related to the problem here, but when things don't
work, desperate measures are attempted :)
btw, i stand corrected about 'daemon.debug' - i'm glad you checked that in
the manual.
another thing you could try is looking how windows is configured, to see
why it manages to connect while linux can't. could be different mru, mtu,
tcp-mss parameters, for instance.
