did any of you look at, or have you tried jungo's "portability layer"
called... WinDriver ?  albait the absurd name, it should give one an API
which is portable between linux and windows, and also portable between
user-mode and kernel-mode... ofcourse its commercial, thought one can
download an evaluation version from their site (for linux, for windows,
for 2.4 kernels too). the company's israeli, btw, and it used to have a
different name (which i managed to forget).

it _seems_ (from light reading on their web site) that its suiteable for
device drivers, and won't support other types of modules (i.e. won't
support kernel APIs that are meant for firewalling, for example).
