Strange Printer Problem

Hi and happy sukkoth everyone,

I'm having a strange printer problem. I have an Epson Stylus Color 740
which works perfectly on Windows but on Linux I cannot get it to print.

Now, the lp, parport and parport_pc modules are loaded, but I cannot seem
to print anything by catting a text file (or a postscript file) to the
printer. The permission on /dev/lp1 are:

crw-rw-rw- 1 root lp 6, 1 Aug 30 12:54 /dev/lp1

And the relevant files from /proc/sys/dev/parport/parport1 are:

/autoprobe
------

/autoprobe0
------

/autoprobe1
------

/autoprobe2
------

/autoprobe3
------

/base-addr
------

888	1912

/devices/active
------

none

/devices/lp/timeslice
------

200

/dma
------

3

/irq
------

7

/modes
------

PCSPP,TRISTATE,COMPAT,ECP,DMA

/spintime
------

500

What can I do to make everything allright?

Regards,
