Yamaha CRW2200E under Linux?

Does anyone have experience in using the above CD-RW under Linux?

The following configuration is problematic and I found nothing relevant in
the Web or in Linux-IL archives (where people reported that Yamaha
CRW8424S works great under Linux):
Pentium II 300MHz
384MB SDRAM
Hard disk at /dev/hda
CRW2200E at /dev/hdb (due to various reasons, too painful to switch to
/dev/hdc to have its own controller).
    (Firmware version 1.0D)
Mandrake 7.2, Linux kernel 2.2.17-21mdk
cdrecord-1.9 (i586-mandrake-linux-gnu)
(It seems that there is a version 1.10, I'll look into it.)
Linux sg driver version 2.1.39
libscg version schily-0.1

The problem:
When trying to burn a CD-ROM from an image, after about 10MB (varies),
cdrecord informs of error, does fixation and stops.
This happens in both simulation (-dummy) and real modes, and at speeds
20x, 12x and 8x. (I ran for real only once, and it did result in loss of
media).

Under MS-Windows 95 and Nero 5.5 (and hard disks at both /dev/hda and
/dev/hdc), the device performed flawlessly.
                                             --- Omer
There is no IGLU Cabal. Someone went out and bought a Linux-incompatible
CD-RW. The ripple effects of this decision were *interesting*, to say the
least.
