Re: ISDN modems

Been doing ISDN on Mandrakes since as early as 7.2. works out of the box
with no problem, but ... don't use the isdn2linux scripts, also other
pre-packaged stuff like kisdn didn't work for me. wrote some lame scripts
that work alright, and keep me on the net 24/7, instead.

also - had very bad experience with winbond based cards (the most common
ones) so I would recomend sticking your head in frying oil before I'll
recomend buying one of those. got a Fritz!PCI from Girit - the first one
fried after a couple of weeks, but the second one works great, so I'll
assume it was just a glitch, and the Fritz! is my recomendation for today.

don't know much about RH (except that I verified that it does come with
ipppd, version 7.1 atleast) and ISDNs, but all the Mandrake are ISDN ready
out of the box, so I guess you should be ok too.
also - not necessary to compile ISDN support into the kernel - using modules
is well enough, and saved me lots of troubles..

Oded

A: That's me.
Q: Were you present when that picture was taken?
