no need to post twice.
check out with "netstat -pnl|grep 1024" which program is actually doing
the listening.
in any case, protecting dialup machines is as important as protecting
servers (inside or outside a firewall, just in case)
if you want, you can use one of my two dialup packet filter scripts to
keep your calm, depending on which kernel generation you are using.
kernel 2.2.x or 2.4.x with IPchains module:
