No. xntpd has been running for a long time there, and IIRC it was not
killed. .
I haven't exactly identified the cause of this. I have double-checked for
cron running twice, but so no trace of this.
In the end I had to reboot that server (I didn't want to reboot it at the
time, because it was generally working, and because I wasn't phisically
near it in case of some boot problem) and after that the problem seemed to
go away.
