hi,
about the switch, you are right.. and i'm afraid that there is no way
around this one..so we have to work with 2 interfaces in case of a lan
routing via the dialing machine.
about your problem :
i have seen this problem with windows, but never with linux... anyway :
make sure that the configuration of the dialing interface is set to subnet
255.0.0.0 (common error), and that both interfaces are loading on boot.
note that having eth0 on the wrong settings (other then 10.200.1.1 and
255.0.0.0) will cause pptp not do dial, or dial and not authonticate.
make sure you have ppp compiled as a module.
your netconf should look something like this :
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:10:4B:65:85:B9
inet addr:10.200.1.1 Bcast:10.200.1.255 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:109805 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:118668 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:25
collisions:15 txqueuelen:100
Interrupt:10 Base address:0xe800
eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 52:54:00:DA:74:CB
inet addr:192.168.0.1 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:40242 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:44496 errors:370 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:739
collisions:7417 txqueuelen:100
Interrupt:11 Base address:0xec00
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:3924 Metric:1
RX packets:14190 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:14190 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
ppp3 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
inet addr:your-ip-address P-t-P:192.117.102.129
Mask:255.255.255.255
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1452 Metric:1
RX packets:66767 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:49781 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:10
i am running 2 interfaces, and dialing when both of them are active.
works like a charm ;)
