Re: connnecting Linux to nt domain with samba

We have here at  work several linux computers that seem to be participating in the WinNT domain - that is :
- using a windows computer I can mount shares from the linux computers
- using a linux computer I can mount shares on windows computers
- linux computers authenticate users against the PDC

in order to get this behaviour we just wrote "security = server" in the smb.conf, and assigned the proper values to "workgroup" and "password server".
for the third feature, we use pam_smb but no special configuration was needed - putting the correct values in the config file seems to do the trick the problem.
except for one computer (which doesn't seem to behave differently then the other in the sambe department) we didn't use any of the methods described in the "sambe in a windows NT domain" help file.

The only thing I couldn't figure how to configure is printing to the network printer (managed by the PDC).

Subject: connnecting Linux to nt domain with samba

Hi list,
I am trying to connect my Linux to nt 4 domain with samba.
first I stopped the samba daemons and executed the command:
smbpasswd -j jdomain -r john_pdc
after a couple of seconds I got the massage:
Get_Hostbyname: Unknown host linuxyoavg
modify_trust_password: Can't resolve address for JOHN_PDC
2001/02/20 14:46:26 : change_trust_account_password: Failed to change password for domain JDOMAIN.
Unable to join domain JDOMAIN.

what do I need to do to get it connected.
TNX in advance
