The future of IGLU meetings

Sorry for the empty post. It was an accident with my mailer.

I would like to discuss the IGLU meetings. While it is known that the
Haifa Linux Club has bi-weekly lectures and there's also a lot of
activity in Bar-Ilan University, it seems that the standard Gush-Dan IGLU
meetings happen very irregularily (if at all).

Part of the problem is the fact that Tel-Aviv University regulations does
not allow the IGLUers to have one of the universities computers or slide
projectors inside the lecture room. That way, we can only hope to bring
our own slides and our own projector there, and possibly a computer to
connect to the projector which is not very practical.

So far the solution was to conduct the lectures in the lecture halls of
Compaq or SGI. But as Chen told me, Compaq requires us to have at least
100 attendees so we can hold a lecture there. Thus, the solution is to
bring very attractive lecturers like Moshe Bar. Lectures about technical
subjects (such as MosheZ's Gtk+ lecture) are impossible because of that
fact.

Now, the hospitality at Compaq is very good (we are given water, hot and
soft drinks, baked pastries, etc), but I think we can give it up if it
means we will be able to hold lectures with a smaller number of attendees.
Chen, will Compaq agree to such an arrangement? How much does the
hospitality costs as far as Compaq is concerned?

Another option is to do it at SGI. From what I understand, SGI are closer
to Tel-Aviv (Herzlia instead of Ra'anana) but sport a smaller lecture
hall. If we don't have so many attendees and SGI does not require us to
have a certain number of them, we can be content with that as a solution.

If not, we'll have to find some place else, give up the idea of
regular IGLU meetings, or proclaim the Bar-Ilan ones to be the official
ones for Gush-Dan. (which is not exactly correct because the Bar-Ilan
chapter is a chapter of IGLU by its own definition)

Can we hold our meeting in Bar-Ilan University at Fridays?

Just my 20 agoroth.
