RE: masquerading woes with icq

Hi mulix,
Try upgrading to 2000b or 2001b if u don't mind some bugs and hebrew problems with some version of clients.

now, also ensure that u r using the masq technique using the related matches, because in 2.4 the contraq
module is important for the icq communication.

As for getting the same message again and again. i encountered this problem before, its a rare problem on their server. what you need to do, is as the same person who sent you the message, send you a message again, but you need to be offline, because i guess it clears your temp mailbox on the icq servers. also, my encounter with the problem, was with a person who used odigo with an icq plugin , so if it sounds familiar, do as i did.

In any case 99b is an antique by now, and you need to upgrade it because they added a lot of features to the protocol, and they may have broken it a bit.

Subject: masquerading woes with icq

hi guys,

i have a problem with icq malfunctioning in a masquerading setup. the
icq client, version 0.99b, is running on a windows 98SE laptop, and
masquerading is provided by a linux machine running kernel 2.4.13.

the problem is that the icq client only partially works. by this i
mean that:

1. the user is never seen as online by other users.
2. keeps getting old messages over and over.
3. does not get status change notifications when other people go
online or offline.
4. (sometimes) sends messages and people do not receive them.

i'm working on the assumption that it's a flaw in either my
masquerading setup, or the icq protocol. a web search shows an icq_masq
module for 2.2 kernels, but i could not find such a module for 2.4 kernels.

so: does anyone have such a setup, working? if yes, just how did you get
it to work??

thanks in advance!
