thank you. i hope the audience will share your sentiments ;)

unfortunately, no. he has previous engagements and will not be able to
attend today. perhaphs he would like to give a lecture to the club on
adsl some other time, though. dani?

the lecture will be more technical than the slides, have no doubt. just
how technical depends on the audience's requests, but in any event, i
plan to concentrate on the process we went through, rather than the specifics.

i'm willing to compile such a list, if people send their linux
experiences with ISPs other than actcom to me (no need to flood the
list).

mostly everything, with the following caveats:
- it doesnt require more then one externaly visible ip.
- the protocol doesn't play any funny games with ip addresses or port
numbers (such as encoding them explicitly in the data stream)- see
http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/IP-Masquerade-HOWTO-6.html for the full explanation.
- you dont need to support incoming connections (although it can be
done, with DNAT)

hmmm, interesting. again, i'm willing to compile a list if people send
me their isps' terms of service. no need to mention actcom's ;)

actcom (used to) give one "while supplies last". others?

bezeq has been very good lately in regards to disconnections. my logs
show a few minutes of disconnection in the wee hours of the morning,
every three or four days for the last two weeks. actcom, on the
other hand, has been having some problems lately, but it seems to be
getting better.

i've never had to lie about using linux. in some case (actcom support,
for example) they even appreciate the detailed logging you can provide
since you use a Superior(tm) OS. YMMV. there are also rumors that
one day in the not too distant future, Bezeq will officialy support
linux.
