Ilya and I did a small test last night:

I was on widnows with Ghostview, ghostscript and HP postscript printer
driver, and I created the fir postscript document (thats for this example -
my resume as a PS file).

Then we both tried to convert it to PDF. Ilya with ps2pdf (600 DPI, embedding
fonts), and I with GSView and using the pdfwrite option (embedded fonts, 600
DPI).

No matter what option I tried - Ilya's version looked better (you can see the
PDF which is Ilya's output of ps2pdf), while on Windows with GSView and
Ghostscript (latest versions) - looked bad under Adobe Acrobat in Windows...

Yeah, I looked at your documents...

You have a document called spr2000-tut-7.pdf - the PDF looked really great
here under kghostview, but the PS version (which is 4 times bigger!) showed
just blank pages here. This could be of course due to the ghostscript version
I have here (from Redhat 7.1)

I have done some testing with Kate and Koffice - the PDF/PS output looks
really great and clear including Hebrew stuff written in reverse.

Don't get this as a flame - but I hardly can understand the abiword with
their fonts issue - start copying files around and playing with xset? why?
whats wrong with just using the fonts like Konqueror, Mozilla and all the
other programs use??
