Actually, this is much less harmful than the former variant (which is
basically a big nuke with publicly accessible "blow me" button).

Yes. And I fear it's time to think about some form of defense against
this. After all, if we have the list of open relays, why not to have the
list of backdoored machines - which are much more dangerous, after all.
