comparing notepad and xemacs is not really it.
compare notepad to knotes 107k
even if xemacs was a linux program (which is not)
you might as well compare word to ed(74k:)

| I bet that 90% of that 3MB (or 7MB) is a fancy installation program with
| fancy help and troubleshooting, and several fancy applications for later
| configuring the modem, and using it in all sorts of ways. And I bet that all
| that is probably missing in Linux...
|
| Compare to what you get when you install an HP deskjet driver (for example)
| on windows, to what you get with pbm2ppa (only 20K!!!).
|
| So not everything is bad in Windows ;)
| Besides, what is Linux if not bloatware? My Redhat 7 installation is almost
| 2 gigabytes in size (with every piece of free software in the world and
| its uncle thrown in)! ;)
|
| Another proof that Linux is bloatware: compare the tiny "notepad" to the
| 100 MB (!!) XEmacs...
