hi,
first of all, qt is looking great, it is a big competitor for kylix, but also
free for free use. we are still waiting for kylix free edition. the name of
this mail refers to the bidi subject.
it looks sh**t. sorry. the first beta was better... the best so far was
beta3. IMHO. more bugs/requests:
1) RTL menus. where the file is in the right of the window.
2) RTL checkboxes and radio buttons: where the text is in left to the icon.
not right as default.
3) a way to control the (in html terminology) DIR. in the api we can only
control the ALIGN, and I think the are both the same now in qt.
4) qmake: i compiled qt with thread support, and only libqt-mt was builded,
on 2.X when qt was configured with thread support, also the non-thread libs
were builded. now only the thread libs are builded. in qmake add
"CONFIG+=thread" note the case. important. I think the .pro file needs to be
not-case sensitive.
5) qmake should stop building the makefile if it finds an illegal
line/command.
6) designer now has a new "add main.cpp". cool. now all I need is
"configure" "copmile" and "run" and I do not need to open a terminal and
kdevelop is no longer required.
7) now to the biggest flaw: bidi text rendering. insert into a new window a
combo box or list box. double click it. insert a new item, with this text
(hebrew is in capital letters):
IUNIKOD 16
in the lineedit you will see it OK, but on the list you will see 61. that
means that there are 2 rendering engines no?
8) apparently, in the new designer they have forgotten the new main window
wizard... never mind.. just open a demo (tools/examples/richedit), and change
the file/open to hebrew (PTAH, or something) now test the window. and
navigate with the keyboard to the new file/open item. see?
I suggest that we send all our bugs to here, and then after a week or so
someone will send them to the trolls. there is no sense in reporting all bugs
more then once, and maybe someone will have a better explain for them by a
sort RTFMl.
