Re: A tool for Perl And C++

Hmm, lets see...

Kylix basically is a good thing, but there are 2 problems:

Take a look here: http://shop.borland.com/Category/0,1257,3-15-1080,00.html

1. Price - the price tag for pre-order is $999. In Israeli shekels that
translates to about 4,600+ shekels (including Maam). How many people do you
know who can afford it besides big companies?

2. The RAD IDE GUI - looks very cool, at least thats what I heard from beta
testers. but the big problem - it's built on Wine. This is not winelib which
you can get a decent speed - but it's slow as hell. Don't take my word on it
- just try wine with some Windows application and see for yourself...

There is, however, a good side:

They plan to release in the next quater a free command line version without
any docs, so you can buy a kylix book (which will probably appear soon) and
use it, and in very little time afterward, I'm sure someone will slap a RAD
IDE GUI on top of it...

Talk about a business plan... heh :)
