Indeed, that would be hard to imagine -- consider that GLX has existed
for quite a while before DirectX was but a spark of a bulb that's
about to light up in Gates' twisted nous.

Are you asking about parallel functionality in Linux, or about
emulation of DirectX? As to parallel functionality, for 3D there's
OpenGL, and judging by how fast the bastards run about and kill me in
Quake III at 1024x768 with all the effects turned on (on a GeForce 2
MX), it works very well.
As to the quality of the DirectX emulation, I think www.linuxgames.com
should contain that information -- I can't tell you.
