                     Moshe Zadka

              Using and Administrating CVS

Time: Friday August 17 2001, 10:00
Place: Third Floor Seminar Room,
Math and Computer Science Building (#216)
       Bar-Ilan University

Quoting http://www.cvshome.org

CVS is the Concurrent Versions System, the
    dominant open-source network-transparent
version control system. CVS is useful for everyone
from individual developers to large, distributed
    teams:
      * Its client-server access method lets developers
access the latest code from anywhere there's an
        Internet connection.
      * Its unreserved check-out model to version
control avoids artificial conflicts common with
        the exclusive check-out model.
      * Its client tools are available on most platforms.

As is customary on such meetings abroad, this is a good opportunity to sign
keys. Do bring your key-id with you. In case you are not familiar to some of
the other participiants you should bring some identification means (ID card,
driving
license, passport or Hoger/Kazin/Nagad) with you.
In particular, for those of you who want their key signed by a Debian
developer (as requested by Debian's maintainers application process), this
is a great opportunity. Do not forget to bring one of the identification means
mentioned above.

The campus map is at at http://www.biu.ac.il/General/campusmap.
The Math and Computer Science Building number is 216.

How to get to Bar-Ilan university?

By a car: The Bar Ilan interchange is just at the left bottom corner of the
campus map. It is not seen on the map but it can be visualize more easily by
comparing the map to http://www.biu.ac.il/Tour/noframe.html. In order to get
to the Bar Ilan interchange you can drive on Geha road, either in the
south-north direction or in the opposite direction. Then, when you reach the
Bar-Ilan
interchange, just turn right (if you are coming from the south), or `left'
(that is, get on the bridge, as is usual with interchanges, if you are coming
from the north). The interchange and the university appear on numerous traffic
signs so the best guidance is to follow them. Once you get off Geha road you
should be driving with the southern fence of the campus to your left, and this
can be seen on the campus map. There are parking lots near the gates that are
marked on the map with `Bar-Ilan'.

By a Bus: You can go by the 400 line directly from Jerusalem to the
university. I believe line 400 is a Dan line. Alternatively, Dan lines 68 or
70 will take you from Tel-Aviv central bus station to the campus. In any case
you get off the bus at the Geha road gate (with the 68 or 70 option you will
have to cross the road on a special pedestrians bridge). Egged line number
164, which goes to and from Petach-Tikva also has a stop there. There sould be
other, less frequent buses. Please try the bus companies web sites or ask at
their phone information center.

Inside the campus there are many signs. There are also maps at key points.
Just look for building #216 when you follow the signs and maps. When asking
people, mentioning math and CS, or natural science, in addition to #216 might
help.

Hope to see you all there!
