You are using the entities:
(1) encoding
(2) character set.
If I understand you correctly these are 2 separate entities.
Can you (define || give examples || contrast || discuss) these 2
entities.
Are there any references that directly discuss both encoding and
character set?
The Debian documentation project (DDP) has a doc that discuss those
entities. It is maintained by a Debian developer who is much active in
the i18n business. Yet I could not follow the discussion there.
