Hung qmail processes

Hi,

Once every few days the following appears when doing ps ax:

19372 ? SW 0:00 [qmail-remote]
23146 ? SW 0:00 [qmail-remote]
30578 ? SW 0:00 [qmail-remote]
 5322 ? SW 0:00 [qmail-remote]

The processes in brackets are obviously defunc. It appears that their
presence 'blocks' other qmail processes from appearing - when killing
the defunc processes, dozens of qmail-remote processes appear (the
machine hosts a high-volume mailing list).

These processes appear every few days - the number of defunc processes
changes from time to time, but they won't go away unless they are
manually kill'ed.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Did anyone
experience similar problems with qmail? (I'm using qmail-1.03)

Thanks.

- Aviram
