I wouldn't necessarily recommend them but I have two HP cdwriters that I
use in Linux.  Have not had any problems software wise.  (I do have some
CDRs that don't work in the new one).  One is a slightly older IDE model,
8200i (8250i?).. the other is a external SCSI, 9210e I think (it's 9200
hardware anyway... unless HP has changed their ways the only difference
within the series is software).
