I bet that 90% of that 3MB (or 7MB) is a fancy installation program with
fancy help and troubleshooting, and several fancy applications for later
configuring the modem, and using it in all sorts of ways. And I bet that all
that is probably missing in Linux...

Compare to what you get when you install an HP deskjet driver (for example)
on windows, to what you get with pbm2ppa (only 20K!!!).

So not everything is bad in Windows ;)
Besides, what is Linux if not bloatware? My Redhat 7 installation is almost
2 gigabytes in size (with every piece of free software in the world and
its uncle thrown in)! ;)

Another proof that Linux is bloatware: compare the tiny "notepad" to the
100 MB (!!) XEmacs...
