Re: jobs database (well, looking for job)
Hi, Tzafrir!

If I remember correctly (I did some work on GhostScript last year),
one major change between 5.x and 6.x in the pdfwriter device was that
it started embedding fonts inside the PDF instead of converting the
characters to bitmaps; that's a huge difference, so I'd advise Hetz to
try GhostScript 6.x.

Debian has a gs-aladdin package in non-free.

Later versions of GhostScript have improved by leaps and bounds in
regard to PDF support. If you're working with PDFs, you owe it to
yourself to use the latest version of GhostScript.
Also, if you don't mind working with non-free software, there's
another program for converting PostScript to PDF -- called PStill,
available at http://www.wizards.de/~frank/pstill.html . It's binary
only and free for non-commercial use. I haven't tried it so I can't
attest to its quality, but you can check it out.
