Dear list!
Please forgive my being ignoranto-lameretto, but I have the following
questions (prefaced by the description of my configuration):
1. VA Linux 6.2.4 (RedHat - b.s. + imporvements). X11 v4.1. Gnome v~1.4.
Enlightenment 0.16.5. Generic VA kernel.
2. My sound "card" is a built-in-board es1371.
3. Sound playback works perfectly fine, through esd off-course. All Gnome
and Enlightenment sounds work perfectly as well. Sound mixing is ok too.
Now - the situation:
1. I would like to record some sounds through the microphone. Running
grecord (Gnome sound recorder) works, yet it reports that the sound device
is busy. As soon as I stop esd, grecord doesn't complain any longer, yet
it doesn't record the sound. (I've checked - the microphone is plugged
in:)
2. I've checked mixer configuration and found it to be correct. (i.e. the
right input device vs. the right volume on it + no mute checked).
The questions:
1. How do I make sound-recording possible without shutting esd?
2. Which software do You recommend (instead of grecord, or may be a
different version of grecord?)
3. Should I do anything else? (i.e. - something I don't have a faintest
idea about:)
Thank You all. Good shabes!
