It's not my modem cause i can hear the connection. It's not the permission
cause i'm ROOT. I ran in both computers the same files (option, pap-secrert,
chat script) and they worked on the good computer not on the 386. The
PPP-Howto doesnt say a thing.

Like is said before, there is no difference between the two computer (none!)
other then cpu speed. same configuration, same modem, same hardware (well
most of it), same installation RH6.1. Thus making me not understand why this
is happening.
