[not exactly related, but] jwz, of xemacs, netscape and mozilla fame
(what do you mean you don't know who's jwz? http://www.jwz.org and be
enlightened) wrote a proof of concept Point of Sale system for the night
club he just opened in San Francisco. The code is pretty neat, and he
has some good ideas. it's at http://www.dnalounge.com/backstage/src/pos/

(yes, i know this is very marginally on topic. i felt like sharing.
and while you're reading the source code, go listen to the club's live
audio webcast - it rocks)
