Well, probably it's better so.

Actually we use 7.1 at work and it's served us very good till now. I
upgraded KDE and X from the SuSE RPMs (d/l) without any problem. I am even
still using the shipped 2.2.18 kernel and no reason to complain (I compile
2.4.x for selected computers that need it).

I would only deal with SuSE Germany. They where very nice till now except
for once when I tried to pay with a credit card of the boss and they
noticed the difference in order-name and billing-name :-) But then a
sales-rep called my from Germany and I tried over 45 minutes to convince
him to take the payment from my credit card (HE called !!!). Then he got
VERY cold feet about the long phone talk and rather suddenly said "I'll
cancel. Please order anew" and hang up :-).
While I was upset that they wouldn't take that order I was very pleased by
them calling me for clarification instead of silently dropping the order.
I am also glad they refused the order since it means that they really
check it.
