I think the guy only wanted to know about kernel updates, and those
don't update through apt, and for a very good reason usually.
(and no, subscribing to linux-kernel is the nuttiest overkill yet!!)
my sugestion: the kernel mirroring works in a very interesting way, each
upload session to the master archive will trigger as Email to all the
official mirror machines, which in turn will trigger an immediate rsync
session to the central server. so in theory, IGLU should have updates 20
minutes after they hit the net at the most. if you GFI I am sure you
will find some university or LUG sends the rsync logs on a mailing list
you can attach to and read, or ever filter through grep to get only
messages that claim to update the LATEST-IS file in the kernel dir or
other rules.
the question is, why stay on the tip of the latest kernel patch? are you
really happy to risk compiling each and every one of them? because if
you're a real tester, you SHOULD be on the linux-kernel list, and if
you're only an adventurer like me, just check the FTP site when you get
the occasional urge. I try not to use pre- or ac- patches on the same
day of issue, but wait till they age 3 days without an immediate
successor, because I tend to use them for weeks at a time (until the
next compile :-)
