Changed that. The first attempt was successful, but this does not mean
much so far.

Nothing noticeable so far.

We do have a firewall, but I don't think that's the problem. Some
attempts to pop the mail succeed. If the firewall were the problem 
the success rate would be zero.

Thanks for your help. I'll post if the MTU reduction solves the problem.
