long time ago I heard rumors of bad P4 optimizations, but gcc may have
fixed them. if you want raw speed for the compiler, take the one with
the bigger L1/L2 cache, not the processor speed. I don't see the point
of slowing down such a monster with NFS instead of local disk, so
consider that not much will be gained by the more expensive system (more
expensive memory and CPU)
