I'll try.  Thanks for the suggestion and the back-of-envelope calculations.
If your analysis is correct, it means that the underflow protection scheme
in Yamaha CRW2200E needs to be activated by software, and that it is not
supported by cdrecord-1.9.

BTW, I found out that cdrecord-1.10 cannot be installed over vanilla
Mandrake 7.2, as it needs a more recent version of some libraries. Anyone
in Tel Aviv or Petah Tikva area with a recent RedHat or Mandrake
distribution, with bug+security fixes applied, and who can burn for me a
CD (or lend it to me for burning my own copy)?
