Hi Boaz (nice name! BTW)
Of course I use Xemacs/emacs on winblows. Are there ANY editors out
there at all ?... I know non... .
I've used Xemacs on winblows but switched to GNU emacs not long ago. It
simply had many nice Major Modes included, those modes I never had the
time to search and find how to install (on winblows systems). There are
small differences between the Winblows and *nix versions, but most are
neglectable. File completion is really nice (automatic capital letters,
space, etc'). I never saw the problem you mention even though I've used
Xemacs v21.4 (IIRC) on NT and now 2K. Can you see how Xemacs identified
those files? does it put a "DOS mode" or similar string in the status
area? I'm not sure this is the area to investigate, but perhaps.
I would have suggested to you to move to GNU emacs. Unless you speak
Elisp fluently and a true Emacs GURU, I think you'll find them very much
alike... .
The other useful word I can add here (besides commenting that you have a
beautiful name, which I already said) is that I could recall how I
managed to change my useless CAPS key into another CONTROL key, which,
as you probably know, the most commonly pressed key for the Emacs
users... ;-) .
So, if you wish so, just say so... .
Go for it.
Another Boaz.

Hi.
Did anyone here used Xemacs on Windows?
Any special bugs/problems/features that you encountered?
Specifically:
I have a problem with long filenames.
Whenever I open a file, whose name is longer than 8 letters, and then
save it, The XEmacs convert the file name to the DOS short filenames
version (########.###).
Do you know how to fix this?
I'm using XEmacs 21.4 and NT-4.0
Thanks,
Boaz.
