Basically you should set LANG or LC_CTYPE to "he" (or "iw", or similar,
depending on your system. There should be
/usr/share/locale/{LANGUAGE}/LC_CTYPE )
see locale (7)
So (if you use bash, or any other sh-comatible shell):
try running:
LC_ALL=he command
instead of
command
and see if there is any difference.
(anyway, it seems the origial poster has a vfat partition, so I'm not sure
if what I wrote applies there)
