MTU on ADSL

Sorry to interrupt the off topic argument with a real question...

The HOW-TO doesn't clearly specify what MTU should I set on my Linux cards.
I'm using a 2 network card setup (one for the internal network and a second
for the ADSL modem). What is the recommended MTU for each?

The HOW-TO says:
"the MTU on eth0 to 1500 (run the command 'ifconfig eth0 10.200.1.1 netmask
255.0.0.0 mtu 1500'). "

But a few paragraphs after that:

"# ifconfig -a
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:BF:0E:F6:A8
          inet addr:10.200.1.1 Bcast:10.255.255.255 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1452 Metric:1"

Note the MTU is 1452 here.

So which is the correct one? And what about eth1?
