Just a small comment:  As someone who doesn't mind Linux being somewhat more 'nerdy' than Windows or whatever, I still would prefer it to be popular so that I can be confident that it will continue to exist.  Since MS is trying to 'take over the world', Linux users should at least be concerned that that will not occur.
