1. You should put a subject line on your messages.
2. You might be better off upgrading to 2.0.27.
3. What sort of debug messages are you interested in? You don't
want to try to debug the kernel itself, do you? Each program
has its own method of turning debugging on. Read the
approperiate manuals. (e.g. for pppd it's "-d" or "debug" in
the config file, for chat it's -v, etc...
