I don't know about this, I've switched to 2.0.0 and AFTER I've upgraded 
gobs of old stuff in my system everything works fine (like linux utils, 
net stuff, the system V init, portmap, and of course, procps and ppp).
Maybe you didn't upgrade all the things you should have ( I know that 
when I asked on this list what I need to upgrade the answer I got was 
only ppp, procps and another thing and people didnt mention the other stuff).
