Re: modem in and out

Hi Eran!

Thanks for the repply, I now believe more and more that there is
something wrong with my binaries of getty_ps. I hope this weekend I
have time to look into this. I hope it was understood that my problem

is not in seting up uugetty. uugetty works just fine the problem is
it locks my modem and I can't use it for outgoing calls.
Anyway i have a few remarks.

What exactly does this have to do with seting up uugetty?

This didn't work for me. Whatever I tried uugetty would just refuse
to
recognize my "RING", "RING/r" or even "RING/r/n" in the end I just
set up atS0=1 and used WAITFOR=CONNECT (this is the main reason I
think my uugetty is broken), this and the fact that TIMEOUT=60 times
out after 6 seconds, TIMEOUT=90 after 9 etc.

line like:

You don't need to use chained lines. The comm speed stays locked,
the modem hardware takes care of setting the right line speed, you're

modem will never reach the chained lines which is fortunate since
lowering the comm speed would only degrade the quality of the
connection.
The only use for chained lines with modern modems would to chain them
to
1200 and 2400 speeds. Some very old modems have problems connecting
to new ones, setting the comm speed of the modern modems to the line
speed has been known (by me) to help in some cases (don't ask me
why).
