Hi
Hi, people.
I'm back from a nasty test period (one more this year, though).
I have sent a summary of a meeting with another company, Kinematica, and
I'd like to talk about some stuff that's on our agenda.
First, regarding installation parties. I think this idea was first raised
by Harvey, and I think it's a great one. To summarize, the idea is
to collect newbies and other interested people in one place with a good
solid Internet connection. Have them bring in their computers if necessary,
and do various things to help newbies learn. This includes both installing
for them (and making sure they understand) and perhaps a lecture.
I'm 99% sure the Hebrew University Highschool can provide the
framework needed. We have a nice 64Kbps LAN connectivity to the net,
and the disks to hold Slackware 3.0.0 for NFS installations. I also
think there are quite a few people around Jerusalem to be there and
help. I know Kinematica volunteered their place for an installation
party in Tel-Aviv, but this needs to be checked out further. If anyone
has any suggestions... Let's push this along.
Second, about being an Amuta. I know this is a touchy subject, but my
conversation with Kinematica and some other thoughts convinced me this
is the way to go. However, I am unfamiliar with the legal meanings and
obligations (or rather, complete ignorant), and since Kinematica offered
to help us there, I ask whoever is out there to post the legal meaning
of an Amuta in layman terms BEFORE anyone starts arguing.
That's it for now.
