Man Pages??!?!?!;)
Here's one of the less known man pages.....
SLEEP(6) Real Life Programmer's Manual SLEEP(6)
sleep -- delay a process for a period
SYNOPSIS
sleep [-r] [-d delta] [-t theta] [[-T token] [-D duration] process]
DESCRIPTION
sleep(6) puts the named process (or self) into delayed
execution mode, usually to provide enough CPU cycles for
background maintainance functions. If another process is
specified, and privileges are sufficient (or a security
token such as anesthetic or a blunt object is available)
it's possible to specify a duration for the sleep call.
When applied to self(6), sleep continues until an external
event occurs or maintainance is complete.
OPTIONS
-r REM sleep
Rapid maintainance is possible in REM mode, but
it's generally not possible to sustain this level
of sleep for very long. It generally doesn't occur
when an external process is specified.
-d delta
-t theta
Specify intensity of named brainwaves.
-D delay
Duration of sleep. Specified in units of force or
mass for historical reasons.
-T token
Specify authority token to use in case of duplicates.
EXAMPLES
sleep -D 32kgm/s/s -T anvil wile_e_coyote
BUGS
Attempting to sleep an external process with insufficient
privileges can lead to an unintended sleep on self.
