depends what you use it for. IP on the Netware is only if you need it for
specific tasks, and I think the Linux will be anough. also, if setting up
the IP wrong on the Netware, you may end up with people breaking into it
from the Internet, your school won'y like that.

nope, the Linux as a default gateway only if the linux is the router, but
it isn't in your case... it COULD be your default mail, webproxy, DNS
server etc.
