Linux-compatible notebook ?

Hi Linuxers:

Did somebody buy a Linux-compatible notebook/laptop here in Israel?
Do they sell here something from the /pub/linux/packages/laptops/laptop-survey
on tsx-11.mit.edu?
Is it worthwhile or there is sense to go abroad only for the notebook shopping?

I think to buy something like WinBook XP
(data by jblack@en.ecn.purdue.edu (Jeffrey D Black)):

                 1 docking connector
