Well RPM has a graphical front end called glint, which is superb and IMHO is 
even more friendly then win95's one ;-), but you need to have X for that.
So just install X using rpm and use glint from there.
The usage of rpm is *really* very simple*.

I do not know of a way to "re-use" the instlation scripts as a front-end 
to rpm. Im preety sure it CAN be done - but it doesnt worth the bother...
just install X and use glint or do with rpm - it is good enough.
