You will have to install Linux on an entirely different computer. Get one
of the 486s with a hard drive and install Linux on it. If you want the
terminals to access the Linux (or any other TCP/IP host), you'll have to
mess around with their boot images (the mess depends on whether you have ODI
or not. If you do it can be a breeze to install TCP/IP). After installing
TCP/IP on the clients any TCP/IP stack will work (Trumpet, Chameleon,
kermit, etc).
You can mount the Novell volumes from Linux using a free program called ncpfs
I use - works like a charm and it's free (no need for any installation on the
server itself). Generally, except for the boot image changes (if you need
the clients to work with TCP/IP), you won't need to touch your Novell server.
