Wrong fs or bad superblock

I made some changes in my DOS partitions using DOS fdisk.
Later when I booted Linux one of my partitions wasn't
recognized.

I have:
         /dev/hda3 OS/2 Boot manager
/dev/hda4 root of my linux installation - OK
         /dev/hda5 Dos
         /dev/hda6 Dos
/dev/hda7 Linux data + work disk - damaged
         /dev/hda8 swap
         /dev/hdb Linux data - OK

The problem is with /dev/hda7. I get the message:

wrong fs type or bad superblock on /dev/hda7

I ran "e2fsck -b 8193 /dev/hda7" but it returns:
Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/hda7
It also tells me to do what I just did, running with alternate
superblocks. (Any other superblocks to try?)

I had all details from fdisk written down so I used Linux fdisk
add and delete the partitions, but this only got me back my swap
which was also not recognized initially.

I am using Slackware 1.2.13, using the util programs from the
installation, e2fsck 0.5b, 14-Feb-95 etc.

I may have "touched" this partition from DOS fdisk. I have a
setup with Dos/Windows and OS/2. I boot from OS/2 boot manager.

Any suggestions on getting back this partition?

Thanks,

Arnold
