.snf fonts were used with X11R4. When X11R5 came out, a new format of font
files was chose, .pcf, which is portable between different platforms (unlike
the snf fotmat).

I have a program, snftobdf, which I downloaded some years ago that translates
.snf font files to bdf format source. You can then translate the bdf
fonts to pcf format using a translator that comes with X11, bdftopcf, which
I suppose you have. When you have translated the fonts you want and placed
them in the font directory (the .pcf files you created, that is), you can
use mkfontdir.

Eddie, I will mail you this tool. If there is more demand for it, please let
me know where can I place it. Perhaps in the Linux FTP site, so that
whoever wishes to try it can upload it from there.
