Linux PLIP & Win95
Greetings all,
I am trying to connect a Toshiba Satellite T2105CS (same as the
T2100CS) 486DX2 running Win95 and My P90 RH 3.1 Linux box via PLIP.
I have read the PLIP HOWTO, and the NET HOWTO but both discuss the
connection of either Linux <-> Linux or Linux <>-> DOS using PLIP.
According to this docs it is possible (and not very hard) to connect a
Win3.x machine and a Linux machine by using PLIP on the Linux side and a
certain free packet driver (plip.com) on the DOS box running Winsock or
similar application.
However nowhere is it stated how this can be done with Win95 (if at all).
I have tried running the packet driver and letting the 95 scan for new
hardware, but it didn't find nothing, and i have no idea what "adapter" i
must tell it to use.
I have not tried yet to run the Winsock on top the 95, as it is a 16bit
application (winsock 32 bit is still buggy and limited to 30 days of use)
and I have encountered numerous problems when using it with win95 (Net
application don't work) - I was wondering if there is any better way to do
this.
Anyone can point me to a doc describing how to do this or come up with an
original solution?
TIA,
G.
