First of all, it is called 'linux distribution', not 'box'... and second, 
I wouldn't want to start here a new distributions-war, but I think that the
most current updated and heavily cherished is RedHat 4. However, very soon 
the new debian (to come) will defeat it...

It's not advised for a single user machine.
