Sound problems.
I recently bought an OPTI 930 sound card (SBPro compatible),
and compiled a kernel (1.2.13) to support sound. When I boot,
the kernel finds the card with the right IRQ, DMA and I/O address,
and /dev/sndstat is exactly as it should be, but I can't play
sound files by cating them to /dev/audio or /dev/dsp.
I can play midi files (using playmidi from sunsite).
When I do cat foo.au > /dev/audio, the program takes the right
amount of time to complete, but no sound is heard.
I believe it is not a volume problem, because setmixer (from hobbes)
works, and changes the volume when I play midi files.
The card works with WAv and VOC files from dos programs that
expect a sound blaster, so it is compatible.
Any help is Welcome
