I know this is an old msg, but since it's probably of general
interest, I though I'd point out that term is basically obsolete at
this point, and that the same functionality is better served by Slirp.
Slirp is basically a slip/ppp implementation that runs in user space.
If you dial up a shell account, you can run slirp on the remote side
and run pppd on the local side, and your linux box will think it's
connected to the internet. In particular, virtually all internet
programs will work properly (telnet, ftp, netscape, ...). With IP
forwarding & masquerading on the local side, you could use this to
connect an entire net of machines to the internet via a dialup shell
account.
In particular, it makes term obsolete because it works with native
binaries (no need to termify programs), and it's still supported.
