Installation Party [Technion, Haifa]

Hi, folks

I was afraid to say a word about Installation Party in Haifa, before I
figure out something. But now I think the things will start to move.

I've talked to the lecturer of Un*x Sys Concepts [Elec. Eng. Dep].
And he loved the idea. There were a few attempts to create Linux Club
in Technion, but they all failed!

So, I LOVE linux. And I'll do my best to help others enter the Linux's
world. BUT, I'll need a lot of help. I run linux for 1.5 year. Have tried
Slack 2.3, 3.0, 3.1, RH 3.0 4.0. Run it on 486, and now on P55c 200 MMX
 32M DRam [It's a beast!]. I have a very little experience with
installing networks, NFS and some other things...

[BTW, as I said I'm running P55c 200, and I'm glad to say, I've tried a
few motherboards: So, many of them failed to work with Win95, but there
were no problems with linux, no hangups, no "kernel panics", at the same
time I had to reboot win every 2 minutes]

So, Would you folks come to the Technion to help me fulfill the idea.
[Arik, wonna join me? make peace, no war!]

Since I'm trying to get the equipment and class (room) from the EE dep.
it will serve the students first, but everybody is welcome.
I mean, students who takes the course, needs linux to do the
homeworks first and second to play with X, networks and other great
things. So the most important part is help them set the simple B&W
terminal and the development tools (gcc ...).

As well I'm working with some big PC parts supplier, and I've talked to
him, we will get sponsorship (some HDs, CDs and etc [loan]).

Now I don't know if I can call it an Installation Party, since I'm not
sure there will be enough space for the PCs. I shell check it out.
Initially, I thought about bringing in 1-3 PCs and show on them.
But I see that it will be different.

Just consider that there are about 200 students taking the course, and
many other students who will want to install the Linux at home.

Now about the Linux dist Media. Do you think it will be a good idea to buy
some 20-40 CDs and sell them on the place [Ira, you have an experience
with selling CDs?]. Since the only question everybody ask is: "Where I
can purchase the Linux CD?"

OK, what do you think?
