You are all forgeting one very important thing: Linux is free. totaly
free. no strings attached.
This is the perfect marketing system - hand out your "product" for free!
Take Netscape for example, how it ran over Micro$oft just because it
handed out its browser for free. That is the beauty of Linux and the
reason, IMHO, that it CAN and WILL compete with major OS.
Think of this - we, as the ILUG, can spread Linux for free in schools,
"matnasim" and other pulic places of education starving for budget (esp.
now) thus making a group of young Linux users. Hell, we could "raise" a
whole new generation of young Israeli computer-phreaks that Linux will be
they're first OS ;-)
And when we this - we will create a large crowd of Linux users and
attract more comercial companies towards Linux, making software for it,
writing drivers and making it trie rival of commercial OS's.
As silly as it may sound - the beauity of free software is that it is
free.
