this question has nothing much to do with linux.
read any unix programming book to get the idea of using ptys . the only
major differences between various OSes are:
1. the procedure you use to open the pty. in some you need to try each
pty in turn till u get one that opens properly (like in SunOs, and i
think also linux).
in others, you have a general pty that you open, and actually get a
(different) free pty, like is the case in AIX.
2. ioctls, to specify some characteristics (non blocking things, echo
matters, etc.). for that you might need to:
man termios (or something similar).
one way to go - look at some package that uses ptys. for example - term
(you should have its sources with linux, and has some file that deals
with the pty stuff).
guy
