Oh, neat. I just managed to get that done the other day. 

There's te SERIAL-Howto, which was very useful when I connected a PC as a 
terminal, but not for a modem. I use uugetty for the modem. Here's my 
dialup line in /etc/inittab:

#Dialup lines:
d2:5:respawn:/sbin/uugetty ttyS1 vt100

Of course, use the appropriate ttyS?

The uugetty.ttyS1 in /etc/defaiul works pretty much OK. I didn't have to 
set the modem on Auto-answer manually, but you may need to.

Don't forget running <init q> (or rebooting) after changing the inittab.
