I had a look at the pages for postgres. This looks very good.
Last time I looked at postgres was maybe 3 or 4 years ago
when it did not support SQL and there was this banner on
the docs to the effect of "this package is experimnetal and
will almost certainly be too unreliable for production purposes".
This latest version in much better, acording to the web site
and it sounds like it is well integrated within the Linux
community. Is anyone else running it on Linux?
I have a high school, now running 3 Linux servers, one of
which uses mSQL-current. The msql tends to be a bit crashy,
though it doesn't loose data when it dies. I'd prefer to
use postgres because it is freeware, rather than shareware.
But nearly a thousand kids on 6 different continents are
banging on the msql everyday. Before I replace msql, I'd
like to hear whether or not anyone has tried postgres 1.09
