Linux BBS info
Hi, all.
I'd like to give a few reports on the condition of my BBS.
Since Computax, hardly a week has passed, and already I have 14
users who have downloaded Linux. Most have downloaded at least the
3 basic sets, about 5 have downloaded it ALL (80 megabytes...). All
of them have heard of this BBS as a result of Computax. Goes to show
what a success we were... ;-)
When I find the time, I will be switching my BBS to a Linux-only support
site. It will be renamed accordingly, and will have Linux-oriented
material only. I have a 540 Megabyte hard drive, so I'll be able
to put quite a lot on it...
I suggest you people out there start creating BBSs for Linux support...
Right now I'm the only BBS that has Linux in Israel (as far as I know)
and I have just one (!) line...
Also, I think some of you people should try to organize additional disk
sets with Linux on them (and CDs) at centers like TAU, Weizmann, and Haifa.
This would make getting Linux much easier for people who don't have a
modem.
I've started working on an article presenting our group and describing
the Computax event to the Linux Journal. It should be finished
sometimes this weekend (I'll send it to you, Harvey...).
Regards,
Shay
The chance of an event happening is inversly
proportional to the general desire of it
doing so.
