indeed. What made you so sure it is a good idea to bypass win95's
autodetection? are you sure the IDE on your board is Intel at all? on
Iwill, Tomato, Soyo, Hipo, Rhino and other anymals they use the 430VX, but
a different chip for the IDE controller on some of the models, no idea
what's on ASUS... never assume those things and never force a driver on
win95... the BIOS and chipset autodetection routines there are working
pretty ok most of the time, I only ever needed to update the SCSI drivres
once.
