hardware Q.
about to buy my new server...
IWILL has a pretty cheap ($500) motherboard that has SMP ready, PCI
chipset (aka Triton 3), DIMM slots, 1 meg onboard cache and goes up to
200Mhz without a hitch. question is, how fast a board do I really need?
the heaviest things I'll run there are Harvest index searches and other
CGI scripts and services. all the rest is mostly file access. so is it
worth the money at all?
I just compiled pre2.0.7 today and RedHat 3.0.3 get's stuck with one of
the daemons at boot time. I think I'll move back to 2.0.6. how fast do
you people expect the SMP code will stabilize? I might as well stick to a
good trusty old normal $200 IWILL...
