Linux - The complete Reference
Hello everyone!
I want to order RedHat 4.0 from cheapbytes, and I have two options:
RH 4.0 for $1.99 + $10 S/H
=> total $12 (Assuming no VAT on $2).
RH 4.0 + "Linux - The Complete Reference" for $21.90 + $29 S/H
=> $51 (Assuming no VAT since this is a book. Am I right?)
[I'm not trying to arrange any "group buy" this time. The $1.99 price for the
1st order means it's not really worth trying arranging large group buys, esp.
since I paid VAT on my last $56 order, but I don't expect to pay VAT on a $2
order..)
How good is the "Linux - The Complete Reference" book? cheapbytes's home page
says it's a 1700 page book, but I've seen enough thick books with fluff.
Are there any bookstores selling this book (in the TA or JLM area), where I
can see it? Is it sold for less than $39? (i.e. $51-$12=$39)
I know enough about shell scripts, vi/emacs key combination and that level of
junk the entry level books are filled with. Or for that matter, all the stuff
that appears on man pages. What I could really use is the rest of the stuff
that is usually NOT on man pages.
the offer expires Nov. 2, so I want to decide as soon as possible.
Also, is there a final 2.0.X stable Kernel, (the way 1.2.13 was the last
stable 1.2.X kernel), or are there still new 2.0.X kernels coming out in
parallel with the new 2.1.X Kernels?
thanks,
Udi
