Ramdisk

Hello.

I've been trying to setup a ramdisk on a floppy (as a rescue disk). All of
my tries so far have misreably failed.

I've reached a stage where I boot a LILO floppy with kernel 2.0.25 (with
ramdisk support compiled), than being prompted for a floppy. Insering the
floppy, it loads the compressed image, and notified me of mounting
the ramdisk as root. Than, it does nothing - simply halts.

To test a theory, I've used a statically compiled pico instead of
init (using the 'init' boot parameter), and it loaded. I concluded that
something with ld.so isn't right - the dynamic libraries don't get loaded.
I would have compiled a static bash or static init to make sure, but I
lack the source code of both right now (although I might fix that in the
near future).

I'd like to know what exactly I need on a floppy for this to work.

I wonder why there isn't a mini-howto on this.

Nimrod.
