Yes.

Here's what you need to do in general.
First, you have to set up a getty (I use ugetty) to answer the modem
and present a login prompt. The person would log in as PPP (or would
type PPP from his shell later) and that would trigger a script that
runs pppd. pppd accepts as a parameter the IP address the other side
should have etc. etc. There's no such thing as a virtual address -
PPP is completely standard TCP/IP and so each computer must have its
own VALID IP address.
