My cousin experienced the same problems.  He tried to replace the memory,
but it didn't help.  We just replaced the motherboard, started kernel
compile and went home...  We'll see what happens with that.  BTW, I think
that this problem appears mostly on Pentium machines.

In a week, we'll see what happens with this board.
