Beware the Jabberwock, my son
Hi,
I thought the following anecdotal report could be of interest to others
on the list.
I currently have a system with two onboard PCI IDE controllers. I
connected one IDE drive to each of them (in addition to one SCSI host),
the first drive running linux and the second Win95. (Yeah, yeah, I gave
up in the end, for the sake of WORD 7.0).
Anyway, I decided to install the original Intel Bus Master IDE Drivers
for Win95, that came with the board. Alas, this proved to be a fatal
mistake.
Not only does Lo$e95 seem to be unable to handle it's own drive
properly, it also caused problems with the primary disk. I started
getting strange filesystem unrecoverable errors on my linux partition,
and this phenomenon stopped only after I uninstalled the driver for the
drekishe OS.
So - Beware the Bus Master drivers,
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch...
