I recently got a cyrix 166+ machine. Before ordering, I searched usenet,
and all the posts I could find stated that there's absolutely no problem
with this chip, compatibility or other.

I installed linux, and have had no problems whatsoever myself. The CPU
is real fast (4-5 minutes full 2.0.23 compilation) and seems to be
stable. I also run dos/widoze on the system and had no problems with
these either.

The current quote I have on this CPU is 199$, compared to 410$ for Intel
P166. At that price difference, I didn't think twice.

Also, bear in mind that the cyrix P200+ runs with a bus speed of 75MHz,
which makes it's performance edge over Intel even larger.
