I have never heard of a sound card with IDE/ATAPI. That would be very
silly - connecting your hard drive to your sound card? Personally, I
have a Sound Blaster PRO with the proprietary Panasonic/Matsushita interface
(sbpcd). While this interface is outdated, and I'm not sure if you can
find CD-ROMs with it, my single-speed (!) works great under Linux.
Try to see if you can have two IDE controllers. There may be nice controller
cards out there that allow you to configure their IRQs, etc.
