For E-IDE :
Primary devices hda?, hdb?
 (the ? is the partition number, without any number it's the whole disk)
Secondery devices hdc?, hdd?

Try to check your CMOS if the secondery interface is enable.
Also try not to put any disk configuration (except the boot one) - linux can 
do it.
