The only _true_ WYSIWYG front end for TeX will (probably) be SciTeXt (currently
version 0.2 very alpha)

In fact, I believe there shouldn't be real TeX WYSIWYG processor. WYSIWYG'ness
assumes a lot of resources spent on displaying formatted text, which is enough
to be done only from time to time like `print preview'.

Another *nix alternative is LyX. It's in rather good shape now, it can save
documents in LaTeX format, is almost WYSIWYG (including formulae) and has
equation editor capability comparable to that of MS Word (which is not enough
powerful for me and ugly in design, IMHO). But - serious con - it can't
(meantime) import *TeX.

There is also SciWord for Win* (and for Mac, probably), version 2.5 now, which
is free of the above limitations (but not free :-(). It's also almost WYSIWYG
and oriented (as the name implies) towards writing scientific documents. It's
very nice just for writing lot of formulae, but not as flexible as raw *TeX (or
Word) when it comes to the desktop publishing use or alike. In fact, SciWord's
the only reason the MS stuff takes some place on my HD. I hope VERY MUCH it'll
work under Wabi when Caldera releases it.
