DOSEMU compile

Hi,

I am running a vanilla installation of Infomagic Nov 95 Slackware.
I have kernel 1.2.13 and gcc 2.7.0.
I have re-configured and compiled the kernel and numerous other
software, all went well until I came to DOSEMU. I have the archive
dosemu0.60.3.tgz, which I got off the cd-rom.

I thought DOS under X would add a little more bite to my efforts
to convert some of my friends to Linux. Unfortunately I can't get it
to compile.

Using "make doeverything" I get to where libdosemu is supposed to be created
but the make fails because gcc says: file 0X20000... not found. This is
actually LIBSTART (0x200000....), and when I remove it the make succeeds but
doesn't create the file. I looked in the libs directory and all *.a file are
created.

I would also like to know how to compile for ELF. I uncommented ELF=1 in the
make but it then looks for libslang-elf, which I don't have. I then installed
the slang package and compiled but it doesn't mention how to compile for ELF.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Arnold

B.T.W. I tried installing and compiling from different directories, but it
still did not help.
