I think the limit is the mailer and not the listserver...

www.qmail.org shows figures of a FreeBSD pentium box handling 200,000
messages a day. Qmail also has a mailing list tool inside, and it sounds
friendlier than Majordomo (I have yet to try it, sometime this week).

other than that, I can safely say that none of the people in this list has
ever had experiance with a 50,000 subscribers' list :-)
