The easiest way to move between the two distribution is to wipe the first
and install the other from scratch. HOWEVER, if you will use a seperate
partition for your /home directory (which is a good idea anyway) there
shouldnt be any trouble - when you move save that partition so all youre
personal files will not be deleted. ?You can also copy to that partition
anything you do want to move between distributions (like config files for
X, sendmail etc.)
As for the decision itself - Both Slackware and RedHat are good
distributions. I have used both (started with Slackware and moved to RedHat).
IMHO, RedHat has the upper hand between the two, because of its excellent
package tools (rpm and glint) which makes further upgrades of the system
a breeze and the fact that RedHat seems to release there update-packages
as soon as possible wheneve a major change oocours, or when a bug or
security problem arises.
I am sure others will have different opinions, but I think for a newbie,
RedHat is the better choice.
Good luck, and welcome to the wonderful world of Linux ;-)
