I would do so, but I have IDE/ATAPI CD-ROM and my old 1.2.8 kernel have not supporting it so succesfully as 1.3.42 does. 1.2.13 had not compiled under gcc 2.7.0 for some reason...
Q: Is somebody could suggest some "stable" kernel among 1.3.* ones that has IDE/ATAPI CD_ROM support? I don't care about networking.

I've checked it and I did. The problem was that make install of gcc 2.7.1 had not located new libgcc.a in appropriate place (/usr/lib/?) but only under gcc local directory (/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-unknown-linux/2.7.1/). Why is that?
