Make sure you installed the c++ libraries in D set. Try reinstalling it.

tcsh is in A set (A5, I think). Unlike someone's previous letter, DON'T
change root's shell - leave it bash and never work on it in general.
Work as a user (a nice program that does this is /sbin/adduser) and
there specify as shell /bin/tcsh.

Run xf86config. To change the X config file directly, edit /etc/XF86Config

In your home directory, like any other dotfile.
