Re: Is SSL legal to import/use in Israel

2 notes:

1. 40 bit SSL was never disallowed for exportation (of course
there is a commercial copyright of RSA!). The limited SSL
   was the 128 bit version.
2. A few weeks ago, Clinton signed on an update to the law,
and now it is more liberal (I am not sure if it is 48 bit
now, or 56). By the way: The new export laws, allow you to
put encryption material on the Internet (open to the public!)
as long as you can proove that this "public" is a citizen of
U.S. or Canada. Netscape, for example, has a database of
all the citizens in U.S (the *small* brother is sometimes
more dangerous!), and it tries to recognize you (according
to your address, etc.) in order to let you download their
secure server (the 128 bit one!). There are important news
regarding to the Clipper (Za"L) laws, but I really can't
   follow.
