Hebrew Type1 fonts package for Linux
Hi,
As designated in the 'Hebrew-HowTo', the 'webfonts' Hebrew fonts
package provided by 'Snunit' (Originally designed for Windows) can also be
installed on a Linux.
I have thus created a new package of those fonts, especially designed for
Linux machines, and put it on our ftp site:
www1.snunit.k12.il/pub/fonts/unix/unixwebfonts.tar.gz
The fonts themselves are Type1 fonts, that work great with Netscape, etc.
The package contains, in addition to the fonts, the relevant lines
to be added to your 'fonts.dir' and 'fonts.scale' files, and the relevant
lines to be added to your .Xdefaults, so Netscape 1.12 will work with
those fonts. (You can use http://www1.snunit.k12.il/snunit/
to check if you see Hebrew)
Three final notes:
1. Be careful *not* to unpack the file in one of your font directories,
or the 'fonts.dir' and 'fonts.scale' files in this directory
will be overwritten! Unpack it in some temporary directory,
read the README, and proceed from there.
2. Sorry, but no support yet for Netscape 2.0 . I think we will
be able to provide a package that will work with Netscape 2.0,
once a stable, non-beta version comes around.
3. I think the fonts can easily be installed on non-Linux machines,
but I didn't have the chance to try yet... So I would
really like your feedback on that point...
Enjoy!
