It depends on what is the exact format of your "PostScript"
font. The standard PostScript format for fonts is Type1.
If it is in a separate file, it would be called "*.pfb" or
"*.pfa". This format has a special PostScript language,
different than the standard one, and is recognized by
PostScript, GhostScript, X11 (yes!), Adobe Type Manager, etc.
Almost all the font manipulation programs (e.g. Fontographer,
FontLab, FontMonger, etc.) know this format.
Unfortunately, some of the old PostScript fonts, are not real
fonts, but only a code of PostScript to draw images. These
fonts are written in pure PostScript language, and there is
no way to manipulate them. Some call these fonts "Type3",
but this name is used for another format too, so I don't think
it's a good idea to call them Type3.
I think that one of the international experts in this area is
Prof. (or Dr. ?) Dan Beeri of the Technion.
