Font conversion
Hello all,
I wanted to run DOSEMU under X with a Hebrew font, and I really didn't
like the Hebrew characters in the vgah font from the hebxfonts package.
Fortunatly, I have saved (using the kbd package) my old hardware font
(I changed the hardware and the new font is terrible) and I decided to
convert it from the raw bitmap format (8x16 == 16 bytes per character
times 256 == 4096 bytes) to a .pcf (or .bdf) so I could ues it with
DOSEMU.
So I spent five minutes writing a simple convertor - .f16 to .bdf
It works quite well, and xdos now uses my old favourite font --
However, I want to generalize this font conversion program, and
for that I need some documents about font formats - esp. .bdf
There's only this much I can figure out from existing .bdfs in my system -
I'd really rather have a written standard. (for all the properties
I probably don't even know of.)
I know some people here have been dealing extensively with fonts, so
perhaps they could point me to resources.
Thanks,
Dudu
