Re: Connection to Netvision + food!

sorry, got to make a point. i'd claim that at least half the ISPs (inj
israel. in the USA it might be different) use routers with PPP support,
just a few serv ppp off a linux/bsd/whatever box. now, you tell me what's
wrong with that (i didn't say we use it, but as you can see, it doesn't
matter if you enter a unix shell or not, the idea of the script is still
quite the same).

if you want me to poor some salt over your supporters wounds, i'd remind
you the existence of protocols such as chap, that seems to be only used by
internet gold currently (got to love them, ira..), which require the
trivial empty script.

oh, you forgot another issue without which talkd has some problems
(redefining your host name).

you also forgot the most naive issue people neglect: connecting linux to
the net as-is is an open door for all those who run port/address space
scanners. i won't put a box there without taking care of this issue (i
did, until i became aware of that, and then found some strange entries in
various log files).

as for the linux dinning club, i can't refuse food. yet, since it's got to
do with computers, make it a pizza (hut) place, and pre-order a table to
host the load of pizza lovers that want to come.
