true, and problematic at the same time.
- your school and mine are both too slow to be accessed, and are
restricted to k12 activity anyway.
- it is agreed you and Evgeny have the same limitations with hosting some
information on ac.il computers, and are also limited by the amount of disk
space and badwidth that you can allow this venture to expand to, before
you will be accused of abusing the systems you work on, and we all lose
the site.
- my site, same way as TclTek, is commercial. I believe my reputation in
this mailing list is not of one who looks only at the profitable side, but
mostly at the spartan Torvaldish aspect of our activities. I can't promiss
NOT to take "political" advantage of the website by hosting it here, but I
do promise to share any action with the list, or amuta, members, and get
their approval. E.g. selling my Linux CDs (still close to 100 pieces) or
mentioning my hosting service in an icon on the web pages.

no problems whatsoever, I have had worse things to deal with :-)

we are not discussing the moving of the list server, and an MX record
pointing at cs.huji is an awkward solution. I have no problem with
forwarding a single address though, linux-il@linux.org.il will point at
linux-il@cs. that way I don't load my server with outgoing mail (I have
only 64k for now) and the list gets a propper address. other tricks of
aliasing list members under linux.org.il for a symbolic fee (as part of
the amuta membership, for instance) are tricks you can't get away with
easyly on a University server.

both me and TclTek seem to be eager to host the web site, but I can't say
I share the enthusiasm for the FTP site. I say we share the load.
things to consider:
- I am connected to Euronet, which has 2 T1s abroad.
TclTek has a link to TrendLine, 256k abroad, half dedicated to
Compuserve (Yaron, hit me if I am wrong), and as of this writing, not
yet linked to iix.
- I have been here for a while longer... :-P (=ani hayiti kodem)
- I don't know how much time I will be able to give the project in the
next 2-3 monthes, so I would rather only host the web, and let someone
else take care of FTP and high-bandwidth considerations for now.

if it's not clear enough, I'll sum up:
I vote yes for hosting the web, under either or both names, aliasing a
user for the list to cs.huji, pointing ftp.linux.org.il at TclTek and
maybe give out Email aliasing to the members of the list if needs arise.
