Slip Has to establish the local and remote IP address before starting the
SLIP protocol. That is the reason of all the
"How do I get the remote dynamic address for my Dip" questions in
linux.networking. PPP Doesn't require that, since IP negotiation is part of
the protocol. I am quite sure you mean PPP when you mentioned trumpet. Why
would you want to use SLIP and not PPP?
