===> Subject : Few newbie questions about xhterm
==>
=> 1. How can I tell whether my Xfree86 is based upon R5 or R6 of X-Windows
=> (I have an old version of Linux, no reason to upgrade so far)?
Check if you have /usr/X386 (R5) or /usr/X11R6
=> 2. How does xhterm know where to find its resource file (Xhterm.ad) when
=> it gets executed?
it looks in the application defaults directory, which is usally
/usr/lib/X11/app-defaults and in the current directory.
=>
=> I built and ran xhterm (with Evgeny S.'s Linux patches) on my system. It
=> has the following problems when working with minicom inside the window:
=> 1. Characters are displayed with underlines.
=> 2. When I call by modem and activate lynx on the host computer, I notice
=> that the arrow characters are acted upon by lynx only after another
=> characer was hit.
=>
the latest (final?) version of xhterm is derived from the sources of xterm
from X11R5, this may cause problems in R6. I suggest taking an xhterm
compiled in X11R5 and running it under X11R6.
BTW xhterm on linux has even more bus than on Suns, but its free.
=> I don't see those problem when I call minicom and
=> activate lynx not from X-Windows. So this must be some configuration
=> problem and I suspect it is related to (2) above.
