Obviously, only a few people are willing "to push this ball".
Many more want to subscribe to the mailing list than to participate
in "advancing the cause".
This is a fact, that understandably disappoints you, but in no way
reflects on the decency of the 'lurkers'.
A subscriber has no moral obligation to state his opinion or go to a
meeting. No strings were attached to the subscribing process.
The fact that this might mean that the Amuta might not come to
existance, is bad news for the activists, but who can you complain
to.
I myself (and I guess there are many others like me) am a Linux user
and therefore subscribed. I even donated to the last show, not so much
because "the cause" is important to me, but because I felt gratitude
to those that answered some of my technical questions and helped me.
Making Linux more popular, though, is not really important to me and
I feel no obligation to participate in any activities or financial
support.
I wish the potential Amuta founders good luck, but please keep the
list going for everyone else too (the majority actually).
