You picked the right boot/rootdisk combination for installation but 
during installation installed the default kernel which has no support 
for your CD-ROM.

You should install a new kernel from your distribution CD-ROM; in the
Slackware distribution this means installing one of the kernels in the 
Q set (one with sbpcd in the name, obviously). This overwrites the 
default kernel and you can boot using lilo.

MARC, put this in the FAQ (this is the second time I answer this 
question in the last fortnight or so).
