you learned it the hard way, but Slackware is definitly best used from a 
CDROM... also much cheaper in time and headache.

I didn't look into the israeli mirror market lately, but there should be 
one in ftp.huji.ac.il, another in the huji sunsite (maybe) and you can 
also try the Technion, if it lets you.
if you want slackware fully, though, I sugest you contact someone at 
www.infomagic.com or better www.pht.com, and get the CD with all the 
goodies on it.
