RE: Meeting with Kinetica (was:Meeting and other things)
Hello all!
Second reply and LOTS of corrections ... too many.
maybe we should have gone through the summary before being posted -
or maybe it was because Erez was writing and Shai actually had
posted this message? ;)
Anyway, corrections are found in the body of the message.
Thanks, Aviv.

### No, we were NOT participating in Globes going on the internet,
and never said we had. This also replies another comment of Eli
Marmor - you are right, many claim to be part of that project, we
don't.
We took a major part in the developing the Lamda Community site (the
URL was correct :) and still continue this effort, together with the
Learning Network Laboratory of Tel Aviv University. We are also
developing a major scale project of some commercial firm in Israel,
and are involved in several other projects, covering internet and
intranet systems, as well as developing generic internet technology.
#### Rani Pinchuk, and myself (Aviv) are members of the linux-il for
almost a year and are actively using Linux for almost two years. In
Kinetica, we see Linux as a major platform for developing our
systems and technology, among other platforms and OSs.

#### As I wrote in a previous posting, we will provide in the
following days some general description of what is an Amuta, etc. I
suppose it will start some interesting threads.

#### I must add one more thing: we in Kinetica do USE Linux. We do
not sell Linux. We, as part of the global Linux users group, think
that this OS should be promoted, and would like to help this effort,
as much as we can (considering us being a young company).
We don't see the linux-il as a pool of manpower (we could already
use that, being members of the list ourselves), but rather as a
heterogeneous group of young and motivated people, which all share
usage or interest in a specific OS and the ideas it encompasses.
At the same time, we do look for ideas and opportunities which might
evolve from this list - as a group or from its individuals. These
might come from the group, or from its individuals, as well as from
Kinetica; we see these ideas and opportunities for cooperation as a
side-effects and not as the base for the affiliation of Linux-il and
Kinetica.
