It seems you've tried only ps2ascii - don't forget about 2 other options :)

Seriously, ps2ascii isn't perfect; neither was it supposed to be ever. But at
least, make sure you're using new(est) version of ghostscript (3.53 currently).
I can bet yours is an outdated 2.6.*
