I am very sorry for Marc's reply, he has his arrogant way of saying things...
he meant to say that had you only read the appropriate manpages, FAQs and 
HOWTOs (i.e. PPP, SLIP, Serial, modem, mice, terminals, serial 
printing, getty, networking, chat, cu, etc.) you would discover that 
linux-il absolutly does not support or intend to support comports. there is 
a way to use them with a special module called RTFM, which must be 
compiled thoroughly and carefully. alone. at home. with no one around to 
help. only then it might work.
