Has anyone using ROT13, PGP or SSL or even Netscape against a secure
server ever applied to MASHABAT for such a approval (ishur)? Has
anyone ever been prosecuted for (or even warned against) using PGP in
Israel? Are the trials held in secret so that we don't hear about
them, or has MASHABAT realized that there might be more important
security risks than Netscape Navigator?
No seriously, there seems to be a law here that no one is enforcing.
It is possible that this law is only used to charge spies after they
have been caught doing more serious things. I asked my attorney about
this - though he is not a specialist in security offenses - he said
he's never heard of anyone being harassed on this issue. Just another
stupid law I guess.
