Wierd problems...
I got myself a new 1.3Gigs hd, and put it with my former 730MB...
Anyway, I followed the instructions regarding EDIE drives and linux,
since I have an EIDE compatible BIOS.
the pysical data is:
/dev/hda - 2484,16,63
/dev/hdb - 1416,16,63
and I set them in my BIOS as LBA - meaning
/dev/hda - 621,64,63
/dev/hdb - 708,32,63
after that I went to dos, and partitioned my disk as follows:
/dev/hda1 - 500MB DOS
/dev/hdb1 - 350MB DOS
/dev/hdb2 - 350MB DOS Extended
then I ran linux. put in the options:
ramdisk hd=2484,16,63 hd=1416,16,63
and it loaded. ran fdisk, set back the cyl and heads to the LBA values.
created:
/dev/hda2 - 480MB Linux Native
/dev/hda3 - 16MB Linux Swap
installed. linux is running perfect.
went back to DOS, and defined /dev/hda4 as DOS Extended - 220 MB.
now. from DOS, it works like charm.
I get Master Primary as C, Slave primary as D, Master extended as E and
Slave extended as F. however, from linux, I don't manage to mount my
extended DOS partitoins that reside in high are ( >1024 )
any ideas?
Ofer.
