Re: Proxies &NetVision

After testing various configurations of the Harvest
Cache, and comparing it's abilities to the CERN HTTP
cache, I aam convinced it's the best free proxy around.
It supports a smart heirarchical cache arrangement, that
if used appropriatly in Israel would reduce access times
to pages for all Israeli sites. It has an algorithm for
checking out if an object it doesn't have is at neighbours
or parents by a simple and quite efficient algorithm.

I reccomend greatly checking out the overview of this caching system at:

http://www.nlanr.net/Cache/overview.html

If it's not clear from the page, I'd add 2 more things:
1) The cache component of the Harvest system can serve as a caching proxy
STANDALONE. You do not need the whole harvest system (Although it's terrific
in itself).

2)The cache can also serve as a HTTP Accelerator - it can serve YOUR OWN
site's pages 60 times faster than your HTTPD server, while caching "Hot"
objects (most accessed) in memory. Highly configurable (Meaning also it can
be a pain to get it fine-tuned).
