new mirrors
some old, some new, I just wanted to turn your attention...
while ftp.linux.org.il polls the entire sunsite, I select specific useful
sites, maybe the only two things we have in common are the kernels and the
RedHat. My FTP totals at 3.3 gigs for now.
ftp://ftp.linux.org.il/pub/linux/ has some goodies:
+apache/dist mirros of the official Apache webserver site, I am working
on becoming an official mirror. check out
http://apache.linux.org.il
+kernel/ DUHH.
+most-wanted/ ask me and I'll put it there, now mainly stuff from Monthly
Linux CDs coming from PHT.
+cdrom/ If a CDROM is mounted, it will probably be here... ask me if
you need debian or something else I have on CDs.
+harvest/ a great site gatherer/broker system to run searches on
remote sites, in Gilo they use it also with Hebrew, see
below
+freewais/ A search engine used on the Katsir project
http://www.gilo.jlm.k12.il/katsir/ alongside harvest to
index and search web pages in Hebrew
+redhat/ three guesses (first two don't count!). only i386 mirrored,
about 1.2 gig including devel and updates.
+contrib/local/Hebrew/ thw Hebrew Unix Archives s mirrored from the
Technion, also see http://www.linux.org.il/local/Hebrew
+contrib/local/XBanner/ also see http://www.linux.org.il/local/Xbanner
+squid/ also working on becoming an official mirror... Squid
is a freeware web proxy/cache, a direct decendent of the U
of Colorado's Harvest cached, a standalon module that caches
better than many commercial cache proxies. the neatest
feature is the support for installing it in tree structures,
to balance the load on large networks.
if you think there are more products that need an Israeli mirror, just
drop a line, and I'll considder it.
