Re: Modem: Class 1 or 2

Thanks to all the responses.
If someone have missed something, a summary is following:

Class 1 or 2 refer only to the FAX features of FAX/Modem, and not to the
Modem. Class 2 does in its hardware some of the fuctions which require
the computer's CPU in Class 1. It means that multi-tasking is better in
Class 2, and faster (and more expensive :-( ). Some Modems support
both classes. Some have bugs and problems in their implementations of
Class 2. Both classes have their pros and cons.
There are software packages that support only one of the classes. I can
suggest that if your software supports Class 1 and you don't send
'broadcast' messages (contrary to a newspaper that sends a FAX version
to, say, 5000 subscribers), then you don't have to spend extra money
for Class 2.
