Here in Digital, a lot of users are using TwinSock from their MS-Win at home
to a Digital Unix machine. Nobody complains, of course.
Why do you think it is abnormal? Imagine that you connect 10 terminals to your
system, and have 11 users running various applications. Each app. opens sockets
and connections to lot of places. Each user can open (with your machine's IP)
lots of connections. So why should you care if the terminal is local or is
connected through a modem?
As far as the Internet is concerned, all the connections were made from users
on your machine. There is nothing abnormal about a machine with many users.
It may sound wierd to a MS-DOS user, who never saw a machine with many users,
and I agree - to me, the first time I saw multiple users on a PC running Linux
seemed strange - I wasn't used to that. But... Nothing is abnormal about that..
