You're reinventing the wheel - and of a tiny diameter: comp.os.linux.* etc (see
above) have much wider spectrum of linuxers - from newbies to Linus himself. The
chances are high that someone (usually, about the same level of linux knowledge
as you) has just solved the problem you're asking about and is happy to help you
(he'll answer one more the same exactly question, and one more and... he feels
it's boring :^( - but now you'll be able to answer it; we all come through these
stages).

Hmmm.. questions asked and at least not flamed... /dev/null is a good example of
such a maling list! Seriously, send your question to
comp.os.linux.(appropriate), wait say, a week (spending 30 min a day for reading
docs meantime), and if you get no answer - ask people here (mentioning the way
you've spent last week). In this case, I think, you won't be flamed.
