[a very long quote of Mr. Stats]
I am new on the Internet, only about 4 years since I came to terms with
the idea that there are global ONLINE networks. In the world of Fidonet
mail, we have VERY strict rules about overquoting, and it pisses me off
people are not a bit considerate about such things in here. Since we
don't have any moderation or a digestion body for the data in here, I ask
each of you to take the extra 10 seconds per posting, and reorganize the
quotes... a few basic rules of the thumb come into mind:
a. no overquotes. quote only the relevant bits, and just enough to make
it understandable.
b. keep the flow. don't give your 2=page answer and then leave the
message at the end, but answer each paragraph or subject along with the
quote. I try to do this, and it keeps my mind from wondering while
answering too.
c. if you must quote at all, give the minimal sign of quotation. extra
ASCII (like above) only get's in the way.
please answer me directly (ira@gilo.jlm.k12.il) for extra discussion,
enough off-topic for one day.
