Linux-il hosting etc.

Hi all,

It seems the most hot discussions begin when I'm off internet :)

As I see it now the IP topics can be divided into 3 parts:

1) DNS
2) FTP
3) WEB

The first is the simplest. It takes 1 minute to add the corresponding entry to
any existing DN server or 10 minutes to get it running from the scratch.

There is no FTP site (in the sense of mirroring sunsite & holding all local
stuff) by now. So, it makes no difference where to set it up - in any case $$
donation(s) for the HD is needed. But the 64K limit - that's bad IMHO. It could
be ok for mirroring itself, but it also must provide us with enough bandwidth
for downloading. And it won't be the dedicated 64K line for linux-il only - the
ISP must do something for living :)
So, if there is a generous sponsor with no commercial interest in hosting
Linux-il, he can show it very simply :) - by contributing HD to be connected to
an already existing box.

I'm afraid to be partial to the WWW stuff, but what roused censure, mainly, was
the restriction on commercial adds. (BTW, if linux.org.il is supposed to
represent the _non-profit_ amuta, it's, rigorously speaking, all the same). No
problem, however, to make a link to another site, having this kind of info.
In any case, there shouldn't be much of trouble to move the plasma-gate stuff.

Finally, one fantastic idea: given I can manage to get spare IP on our eth
segment and setup virtual domain on plasma-gate - do you think it's good
solution? The chances are almost 0, but who knows...
