The meeting on Wednesday

Hi.

To complete some of the things Ira said.

We met at about 18:30. The present people were:

Gilad Ben Yossef (the host)
Erez Strauss
Amos Shapira
Omer Zak
Harvey Stein
Ira Abramov
Nir Yeffet
Meir (didn't get long Russian last name)
Eli Marmor
Shay Rojansky

A meeting will be held next week, since not enough people came. The meeting
will be held in Tel-Aviv (location not certain - Amoss will try getting
a place in his college), on Thursday about 19:00. PLEASE try to make it
to the meeting this time, so we can have more people. Send me mail to
roji@cs.huji.ac.il to confirm this.

The meeting lasted for about 3 hours, during which we discussed many
things. First, we are still 4000 NIS short, as Ira said. Donations are
needed and if anyone can find us a solution (sponsor) it would solve our
problems.

We will be selling things this time. Ira has ordered 50 April (10 days
old) Infomagic 5-CD developer kits, 100 Slackware 3.0.0 discs (7$ a pop),
and 30 Slackware 3.0.0 + web development kits (8$ each) which contain
web servers, CGIs, etc.

Among the things Ira missed:

Networking:

Linux as a router, firewall. Showing off networking routing through
three seperate modems is nice. A firewall would also be nice to show
off.

Internet:

Linux as an inet server. As client - let's show off Atlas and/or Netscape
2.0 (Atlas contains an Internet phone thingie to show off for multimedia
as well).

Programming:

Java support is crucial - it's one of the hottest things around and
we have a good compiler to show. The GUI debugger ddd (try it out!)
will be a perfect example of a great development environment. The
usual stuff like gcc, perl, and Tcl/Tk.

Multimedia && games:

Like last year, I guess. Doom + 5 xanims (Ira said he'd be able to
bring in Die Hard 3 on a CD!).

Hope I haven't missed anything.

Good luck and godspeed.

Shay
