An alternate possibility is to have a weekday evening meeting.
Perhaps then Jerusalemites would be able to come to Tel Aviv.
There's also a question where to have the meeting (it could be in my
office), and what to do at the meeting. If it's going to be on Friday
morning, I suggest having breakfast, in which case maybe we should
have the meeting at a cafe.
As for additional meeting topics, here're some of the suggestions that
had been posted when this list was first set up:
From: Mark Zusman <marklz@topaz.technion.ac.il>
I suggest the following topics for discussion:
- Linux distributions in Israel: how can one buy CD distribution
here, hwo can we establish distribution on the othr media
(I have 4mm DAT on my system, Omer Zak wrote about QIC);
- kernels 1.<odd>.x are experimental and not stable,
but I'm interested in first-hand experience with those kernels -
what features are going to be in the next kernels, in
what directions development moves. Sorry, but because nboth
of "my" Linuxes are intended for work I can't do any
experiments with them;
- I have specific interest in NFS between Linux and other
Unixes; last status that I heard was about 100-200 K/sec.
From: Omer Zak <xlacha1@wizard.weizmann.ac.il>
The subject of making Linux distributions widely (and easily) available to
Israeli Linux users is a natural topic for Israeli Linux User's Group.
Let's discuss it by way of this mailing list and then meet if necessary to
share our distributions.
From: various people
Various people had questions regarding hebrew support, so perhaps
people could talk about their experiences...
Other possibilities:
-General linux experiences.
-Linux vs operating system ____ (fill in the blank) comparisons.
-GUI builders.
-Availability of software testing packages (I only know of GCT, but
have no experience with it).
