ftp://ftp2.linux.org.il/pub/linux/kernel/v2.0/ is a good place to start
looking. remember you will have to update a lot of things, though, like
the pppd, init, libs, modules, procps... check out http://netrom.com/~soul
for some hints.

does it get stuck even without kernel support for it, or only when it
searches for it? what you could try is add on the kernel commandline the
address and IRQ, so it won't have to detect it, and if that doesn't work,
you may have to resort to <gulp> RTFM. I know many ne2000 "compatibles"
are troublesome... I use 3COM :-)

how about umount and mount? two nice root-only commands. they are your
friends.
remember, this isn't DOS, you need to mount/umount even floppies.

same commands, and add it into /etc/fstab to make it automatic on boots,
or just save commandline typing. RTFM!

RTFM again, this time the monitor's. you can also experiment with a little
higher rates, I push my Acer 17" over the limit, get a better picture, but
not far enough to kill it (carefull, it's possible too!)

Bill? is that you?
