Linux & PARALLELED 3.5" diskette drive

Hi!
I am going to buy a notebook in order to run Linux (and maybe Solaris too)
on it. I am evaluating many notebooks, and some (especially sub-notebooks)
can be connected to 3.5" diskette drives only through the parallel port.

My questions:

1. Is it possible? Can Linux use these drives? What about another OSs
   (such as Solaris for x86)?
2. Are there PCMCIA controllers for 3.5"? May there be any conflict
between addresses of them and addresses of the notebook? What about
Linux, can it use them correctly?

Thanks in advance,
Eli Marmor
