Well, apparently you ARE right, of course.
However it did seem reasonable to install these drivers. The IDE chip IS
indeed original Intel, and the default drivers Win95 chooses are not Bus
Mastering, so there was reason to believe that this would lead to
improved performance.
Retrospectively, this reason was not enough... ;-)
