I'm sure he'd like that reflexivity ;-) 
Does that instability apply to all versions? I've seen that some
versions floating around (including the latest) are beta. Perhaps others
(like the one that comes with RedHat) are more stable ?!

I think I'll install both, and let him decide for himself - 
beauty or the beast, so to speak
