Sunday/monday
how early do people intend to come?
We are in trouble. I was supposed to fix a time with a bezek dude on
thursday, regarding when he should come and install the two lines
Kinneret.com donated us. Guess what? Nezek Ben Leumi were not answering
the phone :-( not even a machine.
I will try and catch him on Sunday morning,
and I suppose the best time will be monday morning. I have NO idea when
I'll arrive. I was planning on sunday at 16:00 but I hear people plan to
be there already in the morning, so I guess Professors Kalai and Mashler
will have to excuse me AGAIN and I'll just show up at shtier as early as
possible, pay them (sob...), and get us about 15 parking and entrance
permits, as many as possible, and get to Ganey Hataarucha ASAP.
Since I see Meir will not be able to bring his machine to the show, I'll
tear mine out of the sockets and bring it along. (Sorry Meir, but we have
no use for a one-day computer). Which means I will be doing the YoYo trip
to my friend in Rehovot too, to get his Machine (P133, 64meg, matrox...
remember?) and Novell server. My Citroen GSA has a large boot, but anyone
with a Rehovot address and a Tender will be most helpfull :-)
As I said, I will be leaving Jerusalem on Sunday morning, roji, reln,
chen, nir, anyone who wants a ride, should contact me by tonight, so I
will know just how much space I need in the back for computers (I'll take
out the back seat if no more than one wants the ride...). There goes my 4
way speaker system too :-(
On my computer I have about 2.5 gigs for Linux, out of which about 1 gig
is free. right now I have my own slackware installed there (2.3 with
1.3.70), and Caldera Preview ][ Preinstalled. 1 gig is free, and my
Official RedHat 3.0.3 from Cheapbytes arrived yesterday (yours too, Udi?)
so I think I'll install that there, and then might use Caldera's RPMs on
it... maybe, maybe not.
To sum up the other projects:
* My 2-page version for the flyers will be written, edited and sent to
Gilad today, I think he also took care of the calling cards.
* Books will be looked into by yours truely on Sunday at Dyonun, the
marketing manager, Belinda, told me she can't give me any reduction other
than mass-buyers' one, no consignation, and they want no signs in our
booth since they know not who we are. I promissed her a fax by sunday to
explain our status, but I don't expect too much to come out of it anyway.
* Assembly: do any of you think meeting there tonight has any point? I
mean, start putting everything in place, and get a generl impression of
what more do we need?
* Just talked to Erez, he says the Alphas are giving him a hard time.
apperently the boot disks are for Station 250s and he got Station 255s,
he wrote Linus and RedHat, and we hope to have Digital's tech help on
sunday. apperently the stations came with TGA cards, which are not
supported, and some of us will have to donate compatable cards, i.e. ATIs
and such. anyone? pleeease? I have a Matrox, which is not supported on
Alphas either.
* If worst comes to worst, We can still use the two 21" screens of the
DrECstations.
all my medias of communication are listed below :-)
I think I'll go have some breakfast now...
