Hey, there is a BIG BIG difference between not being as good as Pro Turbo
or some other cards to being a "DO NOT BUY, under _ANY_ circumstances" junk.
I do not know prices, but if WinTurbo, is cheaper than what you recommend,
it might have a better price/perfomance ratio and in any case might better
fit people's budgets.
Is an Audi junk just because a BMW might be better?
I take your word it is optimized for Windows, but the fact is that the Linux/X
performance I am experiencing (on a Pentium 90) is better than on many Unix
workstations I encounter and is most certainly satisfactory.
Since you use

C'mon c'mon, you seem to take Unix patriotism to an extreme. I have been a Unix
guy for about 10 years and a Windows user for less than a year. No question
it is technically inferior to Unix, OS-2 and others, but it sure is usable and
due to its popularity hosts many very useful applications. I do not want to be
without MS Word and Winfax, for example.
Originally, I too had an unjustified snobbish view of Windows and the PC world.
After encountering software s.a. Visual C++ for example, I realized that
I was just 'zar ofakim'.
Since Windows 95, addressed Windows 3.11 basic technical downside, i.e. being
a non multitasking 16 bit system, the technical gap between it and Unix might
get narrower and narrower.
