NIS and Linux for ISPs

Hi.

First, I finally got NIS working by removing the * in the passwd
NIS entry (+:*:0:0:::) thanks to someone's very helpful suggestion.

I cannot comment on routed and pppd for days, but I can say that
I am the administrator of a Novell LAN of 60 computers. I'm mainly
responsible for the Internet access, and our Internet server is a
DX4-100 with 32MB RAM and 1GB SCSI disk. The server handles mainly DNS
and web, being both a web server and a proxy. Both work flawlessly, and
I have encountered absolutely no problems. There are even some small
nice things such as Novell mounting utils that make life much nicer. The
server's uptime is solely dependant on the frequency of electricity blackouts
(no UPS right now), so my experiences have been great so far.
