Xfree 3.2 soon out, Matrox Millenium Basic support expected

from the Matrox Xfree developpers' FAQ:

What's the current status?

We have a really basic driver written by Radoslaw Kapitan (
kapitan@student.uci.agh.edu.pl) which only really works on a 4 MB, 220 MHz
card. This is build 1, and was a fantastic leg up, which means that we are
probably able to submit something ready for the Xfree86 3.2 release.

Build 2 is in progress, and should be complete by the end of the week,
which should add support for 175 MHz RAMDACs, plus allow multiple
developers access to the source at once (currently the driver is two .c
files, which makes it hard for more than two developers to be developing
any particular feature.)

This basic driver will have basic bitblt support, possibly a hardware
cursor, and support for 175 MHz - 220 MHz RAMDACs, and 2-8 MB of WRAM.
This means that if your monitor can handle it, you will be able to do any
resulution and refresh rate that XFree86 can generate correctly for the
card.

We are hoping that the first driver will autodetect RAM and RAMDAC speed,
but at this stage, it doesn't.

When will the driver be ready?

We hope to have something for everyone is Xfree86 v3.2, which is due for
release in late October, early November. To make this date, we have to
submit code no later than end of September. We're working to do that.
