Re: Modem Problems
I noticed a similar phenomena. I was using CSLIP bothtimes it
happened (twice). I use mgetty+sendfax version 0.99, kernel 1.3.20,
and was calling using dip (latest version, don't know which one but it's
pretty old). The modem handling part of mgetty should have hung up the
modem, but it didn't. Then it couldn't talk to the modem any more -
sending DTR or +++ did not get the modem's attention. As Jonathan pointed
out, only a hard reboot of the machine (486 with 16MB+SCSI, Bocca 1440ME
internal modem) gave me control again.
