Problem with ATI Graphics Pro Turbo 1600 (Mach64)

  Hello,

Ok, I tried getting X to run at a friend's with the aforementioned
graphics adapter w/4megs RAM on a MAG 17" (I don't remember the model but
that doesn't matter) using the XF86_MACH64 driver, XFree 3.1.2, and I DLed
the newest server off sunsite, kernel version 1.2.13 (See footnote [1] for
specific information, Marc). When X loads, it gives me some weird nonsense
on the screen and I have to ctrl+alt+backspace out. The screen doesn't
change modes. I assume this is a card problem since running as a regular
VGA works (if you call 640x480x16 'working').

AcceleratedX makes the screen go crazy and turn itself off, and we had to
hard-boot (ie, press reset REALLY hard) to get any sort of display again.

Anyone have any idea? Please, before the guy installs Win95 again (-:

			Bye,

				-Yaron.

[1] It's a Pentium 133 with 32 megs RAM, two floppies (one of each), a x6
CDROM (EIDE), 1.6GB and 420MB Western Digital HDDs, Linux was installed
off a Slackware 3.0 CDROM on the Secondary HDD and is being loaded off a
bootdisk, there were three people in the room, two of us were eating
chewing-gum (Must, bleeh), the avarage clothing was Jeans+T-Shirt, we had
eaten dinner at my place before (Schwarzenegger Veggieburgers[2]), it was
around 19:00, the TV was off, and the air-condiotioner was on. Anything
else[3] ?

[2] You know, you think "It's Schwarzenegger, it can't be bad" and you
regret it later.

[3] Ah shuddup.
