I guess what you meant is X servers, not X clients. Generally you can use
Linux for that purpose as well - you set up a minimal Linux system which
boots and runs XFree.
If you need integration of DOS, Windows and X, youay want to take a look
at DESQview/X 2.0 + Novell's TCP/IP (which has SLIP support). but take care,
this might be way too heavy for what you look for.
