Re: your mail

Greetings!

During the last couple of days I've witnessed an incredible
tranformation in the list.
Let's look at the facts:

A first time poster who obviously has not followed the list's
discussions, or bothered to read the FAQ, and most probably sent his
welcome message straight to /dev/nul, barges into the list and asks
how to configure tree ethernet cards, a question which if I'm not
mistaken is dealt with in the kernel howto, splashed all over the
ethernet howto and has a paragraph in the Network Adimistrators
Guide, and yet, NO ONE FLAMES HIM, no one even tells him to RTFM,
he doesn't even get a polite:
"Your question is discussed in more than one FAQ and howto, please read
them before posting such trivial questions to the list. If even after
going through the available documentation you find yourself
irrebocably stuck and must post to the list for an answer at least
have the desency of providing the cards' brand and model, the port
and IRQ they were installed at, and the version of the kernel you're
running."

No, nothing of the sort instead everyone just flocks to help him.
Let's look at the signature of the person in question and try to find
an answer to such a puzzling behaviour:

Nope, I can't find a thing. "Telecomunication Specialist" this means
the guy knows about networking and is probably not alien to manuals
so reading the howto should not be a problem for him. He should have
been flamed to a rossy crisp... wait... could it be that... naaah...
could the fact that this particular poster come from Morocco be
responsible? Could it be that faced with the possibility of an
international incident the members of this list become impotent?
Could it be that Marc's tongue looses it's sharpness at such a
prospect?
Hmm, what an interesting discovery, next time I feel the urge of
asking a really stupid question I know where to masquerade as comming
from. :)

"Where the hell is my roof?"
