meeting resaults.
so far, no one has written the summery here (Erez, I hope you have 15
minutes to give us!)
apparently, we counted 2 Alphas, and 2 DECpc Pentiums, plus 3 donated by
the people on the list apart from the other equipment people might donate
(disks, CD drives, network cards, 17" screens etc.) I myself listed here
my contributions in the shape of a DDS2 tape, a hub, 2 3COM cards, maybe
get some ISDN equipment to work in return for sponsership, a multimedia
and games CD for Linux etc.
the rough list of things we want to show:
SMB connection (MS workgroups)
we will have one win95 (96? I can bring Nashville) on the network.
Novell connection
Caldera client and server emulators. we have to think weather to
dedicate another computer as a Novell server. I'll install.
NCPFS demo by roji/reln
TCP/IP anything more to add? NFS and Internet services.
we MUST have a local proxy cache, or better a mirror of important sites
I will also lend 2-3 internal Supra Modems (V.34, anyone wants to
buy, btw?) for the connection, ISDN is out of the question, I
can't do it technically :-(
Rendering: what else do we have the Alphas for? I guess some 3D app
and a POVray demo will do nicely.
X on win95? good question...
ddd, Xemacs, TclTk etc.
games, mac emulation, DOSemu etc.
I'll see about MAYBE organizing an extra laptop from a friend, with
multimedia and all... not a very good chance, though.
next week there is another meeting. Thursday at around 7, I forgot where
(guys! post! help me out here!)
we are in a desperate need for extra donations, guys! almost 4000 NIS
must be raised! the rest of the booth money, phone line and bill.
Money donations, or in the shape of flyers to be handed out (I'll
distribute a word 6 DOC file, and if everyone agrees on the contense,
print a few dozen copies and bring along, last year I handed out some
400-500 flyers a day (!!), who has a 32 PPM laserjet? copying machine?
anyone wants to design/print calling cards of the linux-il? I might end
up doing those too, as part of my own donation, but maybe someone here
works at a printing shop or something (hint... :-)
