Debian in InfoMagic Sep.

Since there were a few threads lately about which Linux to use, I just
thought I'd share with you my latest experience with installing the
Debian distribution.

After I've managed to get my disk working (see next posting) I've decided
to install linux anew with a new version and I chose Debian since it
seemed promising (ungradability..). I have InfoMagic 6-CD Set from Sept.
96. Unfortunately it seems they mastered the CD carelessly (or with a bad
program). The debian distribution uses very complicated (long) links
mechanism, however it seems that when they mastered the CD long links
were just trimmed to a certain size. As a result links to xxx.deb would
become links to xxx.de or xx which ofcourse made the installation fail.
In the end I had to create a staging area of links in a premounted
partition and installed from that staging area. My suggestion is don't
use InfoMagic Sep. to install Debian.
