Not using root is a necessity - it's very easy to wreck your system,
especially if you don't really know what you're doing. About changing
your root's shell, well - a lot of the things root does are shell-dependant
(scripts). This may be just a matter of feeling, but I HAVE heard stories
about incompatibility. The standard shell is bash, especially for root.
