Linux not finding ethernet card

Hi all.

I'm trying to install Linux on a digital VENTURIS 590 PC. I am
using the net net.gz bootdisk, since I want to install using NFS. I
get the following messages when I boot from the net diskettte:

NE*000 ethercard probe at 0x320 00 00 00 00 00 not found (invalid
signature 00 00)

eth0: ewrks3_probe () Detected a device already registered at 0x2e0
eth0: ewrks3_probe () Detected a device already registered at 0x3c0
eth0: D-Link DE-600 pocket adapter not at I/O 378

This is with an Etherworks DE204 ethernet card.

If I switch to an EtherLink III card, I get the samething, except for
the NE*000 message.

The ethernet cards work under DOS/windows (Novell).

Can anyone help me out here ?
I told the folks here at Misrad HaBriut that Linux is great, and that
the installation is simple .... :-(

TIA.
