	f you don't need to, why give shell accounts? TS's have good 
logging capabilities, and your UNIX servers will stay more secure without 
users browsing through them. NT has good implementations as an ISP 
computer today, and if you're inlove with SENDMAIL you can have a major 
mail hub on UNIX.

If you're putting an academic system with applications running on the UNIX's
such as SPSS, MATHEMATICA and co' Linux is quite out of the question

There is a mailing llist for ppl who manage big sites on Linux. I think 
you'd better look the list up.
Apart from that, managing many users on LINUX in a convenient way is Non 
Applicable.
