Last August I had this problem. I spent sevral hours trying to bootstrap
a Solaris gcc compiler, first from AIX and then from Digital Unix.
During the time my bootstrap compiler was being built I searched the
net for gcc compilers for Solaris and finally found one at a
University of California site. I downloaded it and used it to build an
up-to-date gcc. I never was able to figure out how to get the cross
host native compiler to build - and its not worth it to try.
