How about:
1) Linux works on Alphas - nowadays it is good for Intel ...
2) The latest Pentium bug has been fixed in the newest Linux kernels
...
;-)
On a more serious note, you may tell them that organizations large and
small, both in industry and in the academia, are discovering Linux and
start buying Intel computers instead of Suns or whatever workstations
they used to buy. Just to give an Israeli example, some departments of
TAU have been buying PC's and installing Linux over the last few
years, rather than buying more Suns. AFAIK, they are very happy with
it. It's not just webservers that use Linux. Another interesting
example that I stumbled upon some time ago is Wolfram Research - the
developers of Mathematica. More examples can be easily dug out. Intel
should be very interested in capturing some ground in the UNIX world
(unless they listen to Bill and decide it is not important), and Linux
is the way, hence they should have a vested interest in helping it. In
general, I think you should tell them that Linux is a general purpose
system suitable for corporate, as well as personal, use, not only as
a webserver platform but as a quality development platform as well. They
should be interested in this aspect.
