You came to the wrong conclusion !!! ( I mean only
the part of not asking for it).
There are evidently some compatibility issues.
I had 16 M non EDO RAM. When I upgraded to 32 M
at first I was given EDO (because this is the standard
today). So I had 16 M non-EDO together with 16 M EDO.
This caused some very strange problems (the colors of the BIOS
setup screen were weird) and later caused severe problems and
I could not boot DOS. When replacing the 16 M EDO with non-EDO
everything went back to normal.
So, since you may need to add memory in the future and non-EDO
will be harder to find, I think you should buy EDO.

Its advantage over the non-EDO may not be that great but there is
a difference.
