But still shorter than 4.2:
http://www.redhat.com/support/docs/errata.html
I know that 5.0 errata will pass 4.2 errata very soon, but you won't
find a not buggy operating system.
And if you are waiting for 5.1: It will be the buggiest Linux ever:
It is expected to have kernel 2.2.* (hey, Linus, what's going there?),
Apache 1.3 (including the virus of NT compatibility), PostgreSQL 6.3,
and many more experimental versions. The only solution is to take the
version which best meets your dreams, and to apply *all* the patches
mentioned in the errata. Especially regarding to novices, who are not
going to upgrade their OS each 6 months, and who are going to have an
obsolete version in a year or two, if we will install 4.2 for them.
And don't forget: Some of the bugs are "improvements" of older bugs.
For example: One of the feaures of Netscape is that it can eat your
memory, exactly like a packman. It is not a new feature of Communicator
(NS 4.0), Communicator just eats the memory faster than older versions
:-)
