RE: Hebrew et cetera.

Hi..
I have a little time to myself nowadays - so I thought I should waste at
least some of it enhancing my ircII Hebrew support script. It works very
well indeed - but it does not emulate the Windows behaviour when receiving
a line in Hebrew from the server. Close, but not exactly.
I'm wondering where I can get some documentation that will explain EXACTLY
how Windows processes Hebrew lines (esp. mixed Hebrew & non-Hebrew)
so I could make my script emulate it. Guessing at the dark right now..
If anyone can help, please do.

Well, first of all, one have to understand that the IRC programs for Windows are not specifically designed to handle Hebrew messages. Yet, the Hebrew Windows interface does the job for them. I once programmed
something for Hebrew Windows and as far as I Remember Windows does the following with mixed Hebrew-English lines:
Hello <Lamed><Beit><Reish><Alef> <Beit><Alef><Vav><Yud>, this is shlomi
General direction is ------------------>
The Hebrew substrings go this way <----------
You should notice if a space appears between two hebrew words or not.
