S.O.S.
My dear Linux Wise men!!
I am using Slackware Linux ('96) with kernel 2.0.29 & XFree3.2 for
programming (primarily medical related projects in Java).
To my horror, I booted up my system and found the following message:
-----------------
/dev/hda3 contains a file system with errors, check forced
Duplicate or bad blocks in use!
/dev/hda3: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALY
fsck returned error code reboot now!
(none) login:
-----------------
The system logged on read-only, manual fsck runs don't do or show
anything.
(At least I could mount /dos, so I saved my work on Win95 for the mean
time...)
What do I do now? Am I in for another long session of installing
Slackware, or is there something I can do?
Is this a fuck in Linux? in Slackware? Actually, this kind of thing
happened to me a month ago, and I reinstalled the entire system.
(and I make sure every time to shutdown the system before closing the
computer - so this is not due to closing the machine prematurely)
Thanks in advance!!
Tal Davidson
