What I do in such cases is to grep for the missing functions in
all the files under /usr/include and its subdirs.

Upgdare.  Things changed a lot in Linux since 1.2.13 and what most
people can say about 2.0 might not be relevant to your environment.

The newer version of Postgres is PostgresSQL, which as far as I
understand it uses SQL as its language.
