Classic 'special' kernel hack. Find the definition of the function
'printk' in the kernel and add a statement like 'sleep(1);' just before it
returns. Given the screen size it gives you about 25 seconds to read the
stuff before it scrolls away. I used it when I did some hacking. Place a
#define switch around this, like 'SLOW_PRINTK' and #define it in config or
the raw makefile. Then recompile the kernel.

BTW if you really want to find out if you do not have a hardware problem,
get linux-lp from ftp2.linux.org.il/distributions... and write it into a
diskette, then boot from it. It won't touch the hard disk, and it's 1.2.13
based.
