That's true, pico _does_ do that, it should frobably be in a FAQ
somewhere.
However, (A) I edit large configuration files with an editor which does
_not_ do that (note how I avoid starting an Editor Holy War), and (B) One
day it stopped working completely out of the blue - I did NOT edit the
file.
