at the LILO: prompt you can type "linux" but do it quickly, you have only
5 seconds

THAT is weird... did you resize or change any of the DOS particions when
you defined Linux partitions? command.com files don't dissappear by
themselves. see if the drive C: is readable after booting from a floppy in
A:
