Why does `BootGUI=1' prevent you from using multiconfig & loadlin as one of the
entries??

Because BootGUI loads the entire Windows 95 kernel and graphical user-interface, and loadlin refuses to operate in that mode. I think it has to do with the fact that in that case loadlin is one process out of money and cannot rewrite the entire OS as it does. Maybe it is impossible altogether because Win95 does not permit such a think. (I'm quite certain NT does not).

In order for loadlin to do his thing, one has to initiate Win95 in DOS mode only. You can do it in a couple of ways without messing with the BootGUI flag. FOA, it can be done by pressing F8 right after the "Starting Windows 95..." message appears and selecting the "Command Prompt Only " option from the menu. I think loadlin will also run after you select the "Restart the computer in MS-DOS mode" from the Start | "Shut Down..." menu but I'm not sure.

See you all at supper tomorrow.
