ISDN for Linux
Hi all.
I just want to shared with you the experience with ISDN on the linux.
So I tried 3 cards.
The easiest one the ZyXel 128Kbps external ISDN modem with two analog
ports 1 bri port and serial connection.
so you don't need the ISDN telephone if you want to use ISDN to simple
voice connection.
and after 15-20 minutes with PAP/CHAP you will get 64/128Kbs connection
(You have to take in concideration the speed limits of the serial port
115200 or you can to bye additional serial port card with 400000 Kbps
speed limit (about $30 ))
Also you can use bandwidth on demand (if you'll need more then 64 kbps
longer then xxx minutes you will get additional 64 Kbps)
ZyXel understand the AT command and it make the installation very
simple.
The pridce about $250
The second one the Teles 16/3 card it's little more hard to install
requires to recompile kernel on to build the module (and recompile
kernel :-) ). After that to install isdn4linux patch. After one month
playin around whith your computer it will start work.
The price about $70
The third one Teles 16/3 PnP . No difference with the second one for
Linux.
The same price ~ $70
Any questions will be appreciated.
