Media Alert Microsoft Demonstrates Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 for UNIX Step-Ahead Browser to Include Leading ActiveX Technologies NEW YORK - Oct. 10, 1996 - During his keynote address at the UNIX Expo Plus conference in New York City yesterday, Microsoft Chairman and CEO Bill Gates previewed a pre-beta version of Microsoft® Internet Explorer 3.0 for UNIX. The demonstration, highlighting technology-leading features such as ActiveX Scripting, ActiveX Controls and a Coolbar user interface, reaffirms Microsoft's commitment to providing full-featured Web browser support on all major operating system platforms. With ActiveX technologies, developers will soon be able to deliver interactive Web sites and applications to UNIX users. The final version of Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 for UNIX is due to be released during the first quarter of 1997. It will include the same functionality as Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 on the Windows® 95 and Windows NT® operating systems. All versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer are available for no-charge download from the Microsoft Web site at http://www.microsoft.com/ie/.
