Altering the resolution of X-windows without Ctrl-Alt-+/-
I have a small computer at home, it isn't a laptop but rather a build-it-yourself computer with the mother board and the screen in the same box, and a small separate keyboard. The keyboard is rather limited in comparison to normal keyboards and it doesn't have the + and - keys to the right of the numerical key-pad.
I've installed linux there, configured X and managed to run it. However, it keeps starting in the lowest resolution possible and therefore it isn't very comfortable to work with. I know I can comment out the lower resolutions from the XF86Config but I might need them for some reason.
Is there any way to change the screen resolution of X windows at run time without pressing +/-. Alternately, is there any way to specify what the initial resolution will be?
