delivery ptoblems?
Stas says he has problems with sending to my server, but I see people
posting... anyone else has problems with posts?
anyway, here's Stas' undelivred message:
I don't know what went wrong but I posted this 3 days ago and it seems
that the message has got lost :-(
So here the repost...
--------------------------------------------
Hi,
Here is the story:
1. I need to prepare some mixed Hebrew/English text with tables
for users to read. The users are from both worlds the good
Linux and evil MS. The MS users complain they can't read my
hebrew text.
The text is originated under Linux and right now I must think about a
solution, so I'll not go to make the original under MS :-(
What did I try:
Prepared html file with hebrew
<META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-8">
But they can't print it once saved on disk
The letters are reverced !!!
So they want .doc or at least .txt file
I searched the net thoroughly and I have found only tools to
convert from some MS format to html but no tool to make it
reverse
I have tried to hack my self, But I've got stucked since I have
tried to reverse the letters in words which is a solution which
enables to read later in MS Notepad But I never know whether
should I reverse only letters or words e.g when you have a text
like this:
abc | def ghi | klm
So
cba | ihg fed | mlk
is good
But stright forward reverse
mlk | ihg fed | cba
is wrong
And I don't know whether a separator is | or something else ...
2. The other problem is email
When I send some hebrew words they get screwed up since I think
the eights bit is got stripped So the only way to send hebrew
mail (from script! not software) is as mime attachment ???
I have read the Hebrew-HOWTO the only thing was helpfull is DOS-ISO
hebrew conversion
Do someone have solved these problems? Please !!!
BTW, About hebrew and HTML
If you put <PRE>Some Hebrew</PRE> you get it screwed up!
If you do HTML button <input type="submit" Value="Some Hebrew">
you get it reverse rendered!
I'm talking about the code written on Unices not MS
Thank you!
