Now it is safe to remove your winXX
I don't need windoze anymore (I don't have it anyway :-)
StarOffice 3.1 for OpenLinux (Linux) now available (FRee!!!)
http://www.stardiv.com/staroffice/linux.html
Where can I download StarOffice 3.1 free of charge for non-commercial use?
ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/staroffice/
Ok, The main reason to keep windoze was to have a word and an excell,
right?
Yesterday I have downloaded this package (It was huge!)
It's still a beta release. The setup didn't work (Now I realised why --I
don't have libc-5.4.4! After I install it it should solve this...)
So I have installed it manually, after all it should do is setenv about 10
variables and create some dirs (I didn't finished to make all these
working , but read on...
What's important is: I have loaded swriter and I read in the word's doc
file modified it and saved it in doc format! (Many other formats
available) This is it !!! I create doc files under Linux!!!
It has the same menu as word with clipart, spell and other gadgets --
didn't tried them yet...
(DOn't ask me about Hebrew -- I didn't tried it yet :-)
Also I have tried Their Excell clone, DrawPad, and ChartBuilder
You can even browse the Internet from there...
I have to say that this is a Beta product, so don't expect everything to
work. But this is the beginning!!!
If you want to take a chance:
1. Get
9069768 StarOffice31-statbin.tar.gz
1795498 StarOffice31-english.tar.gz
15438758 StarOffice31-common.tar.gz
StarOffice now requires the libc-5.4.4 (A Must have to run the setup!!!)
And it's free, here the quote:
We, the developers of the Linux version, are Linux enthusiasts
like you. It's just that we pay our rent by developing and selling
software for other platforms...
Enjoy!
