|That's exactly my point - the "IP: Forwarding" option just isn't there in
|2.1.29. I know it works in 2.0.27, it works in 2.0.29, too, but it's
|nonexistant in 2.1.29, not even as a disabled/greyed-out option...

configurations are built into the code. Read the files under
Documentation/networking.
I can't run 2.1.30 on my machine right now (no time to play with it),
but will try to answer questions if you still have them.
