about the interception of messages.



A person have intercepted a message that I sent to a friend and got some
information about my linux (redhat 4.1).  he had destroy my hard disk!

how did he do and how can i protect my computer for the next time.

if u have some time, can u answer me that question :
	i want to know how can i write into a /dev/tty? protected file? 
i`ve heard that it's possible for a non root to do it.

i am a new in this kind of job.
i have heard that we can go into a linux station a take some file that are
protected  : the method is sendmail.
