If you duplicated a linux CD yourself, you made a mistake.
Linux uses an extension to the ISO9660 standard called Rock Ridge,
whereas Win95 uses an extension called Joliet. The two are incompatible,
and if you try to duplicate a linux cd using a Windows CDR utility,
you'll end up with an unusable disc (unless it is a slackware
distribution, which deliberately uses only 8.3 filenames, for
compatibility with dos filesystems).
Moreover, an original CD costs about $2-3, which is less than raw media.
If you do have an original CD, all the above doesn't hold, of course,
and I have no idea what the problem might be.
