Hi,
1. try the "GOOD" boot diskettes on another machine (preferably one on
which linux has been successfully installed), see if you get the same error.
2. make up RedHat or Debian boot diskettes and test them on another
machine, then try them on the problematic machine, see if you get the same
error.
If (1) gives you the same error, then your "GOOD" diskettes are suspect.
If (1) results in a clean boot, then your floppy drive is suspect.
If (2) gives you the same error, then your floppy drive is suspect.
If (2) results in a clean boot, then your "GOOD" diskettes are suspect.
Make sure that your floppy drive is a 1.44 drive and not an old 1.2 drive.
If all of the above do not give you a clear answer, then your RAM is
suspect. Make sure you have EDO or better RAM. I have had problems with
older non-EDO Motorola RAM.
