updating PAM on 4.1
continuing the discussion, here's something I found in redhat's lists'
archives:
>Has RedHat compiled a list of programs that are necessary to fix this
>login problem with util-linux and pam conflicts, or did I just do
>something terribly wrong?
Yes, you've committed the terrible crime of having a util-linux package
that's still living in pam.conf land (as opposed to pam.d) ;). Other
packages that may need to be updated:
NetKit-B (NetKit-B-0.09-7)
vlock (vlock-1.0-5)
XFree86 (XFree86-3.3.1-1)
sh-utils (sh-utils-1.16-4)
ssh (ssh-1.2.20-3us)
passwd (passwd-0.50-7)
wu-ftpd (wu-ftpd-2.4.2b12-6)
Those may not all be the newest possible versions, but they work for me :)
Newer versions should also work, with the exception of things like the
wu-ftpd living in contrib (last I checked, it was living in pam.conf
land).
Note that this really isn't RedHat's fault; the PAM conversion was a done
deal, and I think that they went about changing over to the new syntax in
an appropriate manner :)
