upgrade of libc
Hi,
I wish to upgrade to a higher libc to be able to run StarOffice
software. According to theirs notes, a libc-5.4.4 or newer is
required.
I currently use libc-5.3.12-8 on Redhat 4.0 with kernel upgraded to
2.0.30.
My question is - Should I upgrade to newer libc, or to glibc ? (new
Linux kernels relies on glibc, libc is out !) ?.
1) Is a libc / glibc update requires special other packages update ?, do
I need to get a newer kernel tree, and rebuild it ?.
2) I know there are people in the group that had tried and run
StarOffice, I'd appreciate any help from you guys.
3) Is there an "rpm" source of this libc package ? (I didn't find it in
GCC sites, hardly found libc-5.4.7 - only in "diffs" format, not as a
whole package).
Thanks in advance,
Yossi A.
