CHAT and PAP

Hi all

I am trying to figure out what is going on.
I've been told to use PAP or CHAP when connecting. My questions:

One of the fields in the CHAP file is "client"....me right? Is this my
entire machine name? me.domain.com? Or my user name at my ISP?

- The next field is "server"....my ISP, right? Do I have to know the
machine name or just domain.com?

- Next field: "string"....my password at the ISP?

- Addresses.....????

I've read most of the HOWTO files and MAN pages, but I'm still not sure
what is going on. Can someone put into plain english what I am supposed
to put
in this file?

I buided the following files and it still do not work.I try to connect
to CISCO as5200.

1) /etc/ppp/chap-secrets
