RE: help...

It sounds more and more like HW to me. If you are talking about Init
(init == process #1) and it goes away then I strongly suspect that
something is extremely wrong with your setup. Since the mouse works, the
10 minutes seem to be what it takes to have the swap partition and/or the
ram to fill up to a certain point...

Try these two:

1. Log in as root, go to text mode, stop swapping and rebuild the swap
partition using mkswap -c (RTFM mkswap). This will find any bad clusters
in the swap partiotion (which can hang the machine as well as a ram fault).

2. Reboot the computer and enter BIOS setup, go into the 'etended' setup
options and add a wait state in the DRAM access timing (you will see
quite a few options - check the one that says 'RAS to CAS delay' or some
such. This will make the machine 10% slower but if the fault goes away
you know it: bad simm.

With your size of swap partition, I'd use 2 partitions for swap. This has
got to do with speed, not size.

Let us know (and still. get a 3-button mouse. X is different with it).
