That's all very well, but if that were the case, I would expect the same
limitation to affect Win95, and especially DOS - not the world's most
intelligent operating system, as we all know. However, the card works
perfectly in both, aside from some minor mix-up with its port assignment,
which seems to be software definable. Some programs, however, will only
work when a certain port is assigned (if you're intrigued, I'll send you
the details).

There is something weird here which I don't understand. Also, why does
Win95 report my CD-ROM (a Mitsumi FX-001D) to be on IRQ 10, and Linux
reports it to be on IRQ 11, and they both work perfectly?
