It is Linux of course, but it's the kind of Linux problems you can find answers
for in the FAQ, why do you need to read FAQ for some new-bee?

New-bee questions are off topic in this list, most of the list users
are Linux professional who use Linux for Work.

If you have the time and energy to read FAQ and summarize it for New-bees
you can join other Linux Mailing List too, those who accept
question like "How can I write to my A: drive from Linux".

Most of linux-il member are listed in a few more mailing lists,
concerning linux or other staff, so 8 messages a day from 5 mailing list
that's a lot...

        2) We are a small community.

In Israel maybe, but this questions are not even Hebrew related
an America guy could give the exact same answer.

But we can't do it by overflowing our mailing lists with new-bee questions
a new-bee has 2 options

1.read read read and then play with the
system, I made 5-10 installations on the same machine at my early Linux
days (4 years ago) but I learned Linux/UNIX in the process.

2. Find a close friend to help him get started and then read read read.

Linux is not another OS, Linux is more complex and powerful then
any other home OS till now.
It has different why of seeing thing like mounting partitions and no C:/D:/A:
All the Client/Server staff.
If you just install Linux and don't read at least the "Linux User Guide" you
waste disk space.

I do that with so much Junk mail, I don't want to start doing it
with my mailing lists.

5) As an operating system, Linux has a lot of faces.

Maybe Linux Hardware FAQ but for sure all over the Internet, all you need
is to click the search button on your Netscape/IE

There are so many lists about programming, what programming have to do
with "Linux in Israel"?

The only place this touch Linux is the SAMBA area, (MS is fighting
to kill it all the time.)
For this you have a news group and a mailing list too.

What is wrong with people that are polite and don't want to get the
Gurus mad?
