did it panic TWICE at te same spot, or didn't you try again?
some info: is that the same old DrECpc? they are known to have problematic
memory allocation problems connected to the areas that are taken up by
system BIOS. they sometimes make problems with RAMdisk setups (umm, that
covers most of them, I think)

ahhh, MAJOR problem. I could send you mine, which probably includes all
yours and then some, but a better solution is to simply reinstall the
system while it's a virgin. you may also want to bypass all those problems
with a simple temporary transplant of a CDROM drive for this adventure,
Network installations are not always perfect (it's a cute feature that MS
doesn't have, I've done it succesfully a few times on quiet networks, but
it's too slow to justify)
