Re: firewall implementations? (fwd)

Quote directly from their fax:

acTVnet (sorry, the previous message had an error).

There seems to be a catch about 'moadon kniot' or such. It is not clear
whether they expect you to buy a minimum quantity every month or not (food
and such). I heard about this from a friend who is not an Internet expert
and got their ad in the mailbox. So I called them. The fax contains a
contract in pure lawyerese that declares you and acTVnet married for life
etc. That's the part I did not dig. I'm not a lawyer. Anyone find out
more, post here please. and Cc me.

Look, it's not so simple. They say that they give you a fixed IP on a 64k
line (via Bezeq, probably sifranet). That line you share with 10 others at
maximum installation. They have a larger scheme, 128k for 30. Average load
in a commercial/residential area should be 6/10 at peak hours. That's
64k/6 ~= 10k or 1/3 28k modem speed. My hunch (educated guess, since I'm a
hardware guy), is a custom switcher or small CISCO.

The only advantage is the fixed IP and the fact that you don't use the
phone for that. For some $60 + VAT per month.

And if you are lucky and your trunk is not loaded then you have 64k for
yourself.
