The symptoms you mention are classic for an unsupported card. The Xfree86
on RedHat 4.0 is version 3.1 based. It definately does NOT support the
newer Cirrus based cards. Run SuperProbe and see if you get the
"unrecognized chip" message. If so, you will have to download the 3.2
XF86_SVGA server. I just went through this problem with a customer of
mine.
