RE: install ATAPI CD-ROM with Sound Blaster 16 PnP sound card




Well, No mentions to what machine you work with (on board 2 ide
controllers  or an old 486 with a single controller onboard), as well
as which kernel you have installed (or more accurate what the
installation kernel version is).

>From my experience with a no PnP sound card, Linux can perfectly fine
detect an ATAPI CDROM on the soundcard port (as hdc), without any hints.
(In my old machine, there's even no BIOS settings for the second ide
support, and it still works).

So perhaps more details, and output of 'dmesg' or something...
