xa?, apologies, READ !
Ok,
I'd like to thank you for the patience with the 'mail bomb'. I had some
difficulty to cook a way to send the stuff from my shell account. I was
not aware of the large emails causing anyone a problem... I get some mail
bombs of this kind myself sometimes so I assume that they are common
enough to pass. For example, the last *big* one I got was when an Italian
guy who had troubles with linux-lp attached the 1.44 MB binary image to
his email to me...
If someone does not know about what the xa? parts are for, here comes:
Save each part (there are 6, not 20) into a separate file, named as the
title of the message (e.g. xaa, xab...), in a directory. Then, on Unix use
the join command, and then uudecode to obtain iop-0.0.tgz. With DOS (yes,
iop works under DOS), COPY the files together in ASCII mode, then use
uudecode, then GNU gzip and tar. There may be some filename mangling but
DOS users want iop_help.txt and iop.exe. The rest s for more serious ppl
;) iop.c builds with Borland TC (any). Please tell me what you think.
iop-0.0 is a hack really, the final version will be more efficient.
The image files (linux-banner-?) are too big for banner use, but as I
said, COLOR REDUCTION and reformatting can solve that problem. They were
made with Pov-Ray3 which means that you can 'order' changes anytime. All
it takes is a few parameters in the .pov file and CPU cycles. So order
them. Just in case you don't know, to obtain the original .gif images,
save the message and use uudecode on it. Again, Winslow 3.11 users will
experience name mangling, for which reason unpack them one by one, and
rename each one after unpacking to prevent clobbering...
And to all those who keep bragging about 'you can send me linux-lp or
whatever by email': Quit bragging or I'll *send* it. ;)
But I promise I won't bomb the list anymore.
