Bad experience with Datasafe
Hi, everyone.
Just wanted to share a sour experience Marc and myself had with Datasafe.
Another lab in the university asked Marc to install Linux on one of their
newly-bought Datasafe machines (a PPro-200, 128MB RAM, etc.). Upon arrival
the machine did not behave exactly as was specified in the delivery
documents. Two things were dead wrong - the specification of the motherboard
clearly stated a Tyan motherboard, and the computer had a Microstar. More
seriously, the disk was supposed to be a fast-wide Micropolis, but it was
actually a fast-narrow Fujitsu disk. We would NEVER have found this out
if it weren't for some other petty problem which caused us to open the
computer.
Beware...
