There's also an 'hfs' package in debian.

It's not a kernel loadable module, but rather a raw device reading 
thingy (Sorta like mtools) , it works on other Unices, too, and has a GUI 
filemanager with it. I used to copy an HFS CD over to a Unix partition... 
I'm guessing there are also some experimental versions for loadable 
kernel modules as well, though I don't know where.
