It's getting more and more obvious that the mailing list needs a FAQ,
which would contain newbie-specific information and pointers. Almost
half of the traffic is devoted to questions like the one above
followed by 3 to 6 almost identical answers. (The other half of the
traffic is just blah-blah, but that's my personal opinion and a
completely different issue).

We should definitely start compiling the FAQ list with monthly (or
maybe even weekly) posting to this list. The following things are
required:

1. Some volunteer having a public FTP and/or WWW site. Unfortunately
enough, I don't have the one.

2. The person above will be responsible for updating the FAQ. This
doesn't mean he has to spend his precious time lurking on this mailing
list and figuring out what to add to the FAQ. Instead, it'll be up to
all of us to send him update request with questions and answers. His
duty will be just to a) Decide, whether the question submitted is good
enough to go in the FAQ. b) Put it into the FAQ. c) Post the FAQ to
the list on a weekly/monthly basis.

I'd propose the following structure of the FAQ list:

I. Linux-il organizational questions

(location, WWW site, goals, meetings, subscription etc.)

II. Obtaining Linux

(pointers to Linux distributors in Israel)

III. General installation and configuration questions

     (obvious)

IV. Programming questions

V. Hebrew support in Linux

VI. Other useful resources
