Re: Ethernet collision with modem?

Hi,

no problem to install more than two COMs, BUT unless you use a special
serial port card (very expensive and VERY GOOD) each COM port eats up an
interrupt. that means that you can't install more than, let's say 6 COMs,
assuming you have a normally equipped computer and no soundcard. The only
thing you have to do, is set up the additional com-ports (com3 and com4) to
different IRQs. unfortunatly most IO-cards don't support IRQs other than 3
and 4 and they are in use by com2 and com1, respectivly. It might work to
share IRQs between, let's say, com1 and com3, but for sure not when you try
to use both of them the same time !

By the way, can't you telnet to that router using the network ???

Well, I got my SuSe in Germany for NIS 200 (3 install CDs, 1 live-filesystem
and 5 cm thick book) and think it was worthwhile to spare the trouble :-)
