Writing RockRidge CDs with Windows 95

I am considering preparing a CD-ROM with RedHat 4.2, XFree 86 3.3.1 and
other goodies that I can fill it up with. I have a CD writer here at work
and the guys here let me use it as long as I pay for the blank CD with my
own money.

The only problem is: it only supports regular iso9660 filesystems with
filename limit of 8.3 and the Win95 Joliet extension. Therefore, I'm
looking for a way to emulate the RockRidge extension that Linux uses and
RedHat requires for proper CD-only installation.

By browsing a RockRidge CD under Win95 (or Linux) I realized that the long
filenames are chopped in some method (probably unimportant) and the extra
information (long filenames, limited permissions) is contained in a file
called TRANS.TBL. Since It's a plain text file with an more-or-less obvious
format, it can be easily created as an extra file in the file system.

However, the string "TRANS.TBL" is not referenced anywhere in the Linux
kernel's iso9660 fs driver. Therefore, it is possible that the contents of
TRANS.TBL occupy a certain place in the CD, and a random writing of a file
with the name "TRANS.TBL" will simply not do.

Therefore, will creating an image of the CD-ROM as an MS-DOS tree (with
pre- generated TRANS.TBL files) will be enough to write a RockRidge
compatible CD?

If I need special CD writing programs for Windoze 95, does anybody knows of
any that support both the Rock-Ridge format and a SCSI CD-writer? It
should be assumed that installing Linux in the computer with the CD writer
is out of the question.

I checked the relevant HOWTO and scanned the HOWTO's list but couldn't find
any information. However, I plan to send an update to the CD-Writing HOWTO
and other relecant HOWTO's after this issue is resolved.

BTW, should I wait for the next stable version and official release of
RedHat (the latest beta is supposed to be RedHat 4.8) ?
