Re: UPS?
Anything goes. I just bought one myself ;). There is only ONE important
thing: Make *SURE* that the UPS has an electrically insulated 'control'
port (insulated == 'tzaf' in hebrew). Most UPSes for Windoze machines
come without. And of course you have to make sure you get the wiring for
the plug in the booklet (insist in having the original booklet, not the
flimsy copy in hebrew that leaves technical details out...).
Price range: NIS 500-900.
One more thing: Check the MFG. date. The batteries in the things dry out
after 1-2 years even if not used. A new battery is NIS 100-120 IF IT
FITS. Therefore, if you get a bargain, check the date and that you can
open the screws...
The battery can be changed by (almost) anyone (me). That means by almost
any electronics technician. No soldering required, just a #3 Phillips
screwdriver.
