2.1.30 ip forwarding - correction

Just remembered that I should look for "forwarding", not "routing".

In Documentation/networking/ip-sysctl.txt the first paragraph says:

ip_forwarding - "SNMP" BOOLEAN
        2 - disabled (default)
        1 - enabled

This variable is special, its change resets all configuration
parameters to their default state (RFC1122 for hosts, RFC1812
        for routers)

>From the source (net/ipv4/sysctl_net_ipv4.c) and the example of the
ARP timeout setting in Documentation/networking/Configurable I suspect
that doing something like "echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forwarding"
might do the trick.

Read "routing.txt" for more possible hints. It might be pointing to a
directory with tools to exploit the new interface.

Hope this helps better.

In general, my suggestion is that if you want to play with the
bleeding edge you better know how to handle knifes (i.e. be able to
stick your fingers into the source without getting them chopped).

Cheers,
