lpd in SLS 3.2 works perfectly out of the box. When you overload
loaclhost, put any extra names AFTER localhost, or on a separate line with
the same IP repeated. This is due to the way the DNS code reads
/etc/hosts. Best is, get a 'testing' address and assign bob to that.

You have to check /etc/hosts.lpd, it disables all by default if I'm not
wrong. 

Also you should NOT be running bind and /etc/host.conf should contain
'order hosts,bind\nmulti on' for this to work right.

Basically, if you can ping bob from itself then all is ok, and lpd should
work. If not, check that there is a route to it. You may have to add one
that uses the lo if as gateway.
