CONT.:OFF TOPIC:Graphics card -ISA.
Hello,
Since you told me there is nothing I can really do with my motherboard,
I'll try working with my current configuration. (I don't think it is
logical to bug a 486 motherboard now, and I'm planning to buy a new
computer in the near future, and thought of using this as a second
computer, so I'm not going to buy a mother board+graphics card+monitor,
but thanks for the help!!!)
I have a Trident 8900CL (1MB) that does up to 1024x768x256 when called
from svgalib. Since svgalib is not capable of more then 256 colors, I
don't know whether it can do better. My monitor is Non-Interlaced SVGA
it's "HorizSync" is 30-50 and "VertRefresh" is 50-90(I know those two
aren't a lot, but 4 years ago when I bought them they were good enough...)
The problem is that I'm not able to configure X to work with more then
800x600x16, When I start it up with -bpp 16 it doesn't look different so I
don't know whether it works or not. When I tried to configure 1024x768 I
had lots of problems, the colors looked weird and the screen cycled
verticly (the first line becomes the second one and the last one becomes
the first one...). I tried working with xvditune but it didn't help.
Do you have any suggestions?
TIA,
Liran Zvibel.
BTW: Is there a version of svgalib that can work with more then 256
colors? Most of the graphic files I work with are true, and it takes ages
until they are converted to 8 bit every time.
