The ramdisk is loaded through Linux itself, i.e., by the kernel, using the
device driver(s) in the kernel, or at least used to be. No INT13h. I'm not
sure about RH, but all others do it like this. Thus the driver required to
read the boot partition MUST be compiled into the kernel.
If you haven't dismantled your old system yet, compile a kernel like this
with it, and use it on a floppy to boot the new one (warning: rdev lilo
conf etc).
