Re: ISDN modems
pmfji:
I know nearly nothing of ISDN under Linux (although I know pretty much
about the hardware and protocols), but isn't there an option like the pppd
'lcp-echo-interval <n>' that makes it send a packet every n seconds to the
remote host ?
Or, more deeply, isn't there a reauthentication option in the ISDN driver
? Because places like Compuserve which are getting more modern (hrrmph) on
the protocol side, have this kind of horror. Basically if one is connected
on certain types of services, no matter how, and does not answer a
reauthentication challenge, one gets tossed. This has also got to do with
the 30-minute lockout after that, as the software locks out a
re-establishment of a connection with a 'malevolent' party just like login
does after N bad tries.
hope this gives someone a clue,
Peter
