Re: Q: "gisha yashira" for Bank Leumi
Sorry for jumping into the discussion so late, but I actually happen
to have some real info about Glisha Yeshira. This service uses
something called private wire which is developed by Algorithmic
Research which is an israeli company situated in Petach Tikva.
Here is a letter and their reply from a question precisely concerned
with the use of their services under Linux. I didn't try to follow it
up, e.g. by asking for a protocol description, but perhaps someone
else would like to contact them:

Subject: Private wire client for Linux?

Shalom,
I recently signed up with Bank Leumi's Glisha Yeshira and was supplied
with a complete set of Windows/95 user. As I don't use Windows95 if
I have a choice, I wonder if you have a Linux interface of your
private wire software? If not, I would be happy enough with the
technical specifications of how the encryption is conducted, so that
perhaps I can write it myself. (We were recently honored with a
seminar by Ilan Zisser from Algorithmic Research describing the
importance of open protocols but secure keys. Thus I guess that you
provide technical descriptions to whoever asks, no?)
Regards,

Hello,
Thanks for your interest. Your assumption regarding the Linux is
correct we do not have a Linux software solution.
I do not think it would be possible for you to implement the software
clinet solution as it works in the PW as it involves hooking into the
WINSOCK (which does not exist in Linux).
We do provide all the information on the protocol and on the key
exchnage. However we do this for the purpose of assuring our clients
that what we are doing is done securely and that they can monitor and
criticize our solution. For this purpose there is a
description of the protocol and algorithmis we are doing.
Obvioulsy for you to develop would require a lot more support and
assistance and we are not able to provide such resources.
Thanks,
Gil Cordova
So please call them up and try to convince them to release the specs.
