locale problems with glibc2

Hi guys and girls, (that's very PC of me - are there actually any
girls still subscribed to this list?!)

I recently upgraded to debian's 'frozen' release - slink. Since then I
have problems running netscape/mozilla. What I managed to discover so far
is that the locale support in glibc2 is broken, and that seems to be the
cause of the problem. Netscape's release notes suggest setting the
environment variable LD_PRELOAD to /usr/lib/libBrokenLocale.so (which
should link to that 'correction' library prior to loading). But that
doesn't make any difference on my system (I also tried setenving
XNLSPATH manually, though it's set correctly in the first place).

The problem persists with any recent version of netscape or mozilla that I
tried.

I THINK that RH5.2 is using the same version of glibc2. If so - do RH5.2
users encounter any problems with netscape there?! Are there any slink
users out there that can help me with their experience?!
As always - any hint will be appreciated.

Many thanks,
Tuvik
