one thing he might use is "Unix for dummies" (unix - kol ehad yachol), in
its hebrew edition. i bought it in "bug" two years ago. it's a user-level
book, showing how to use the system, and for each command or tool sit
demonstrates, it shows several variants, and in particular - how to do
that on Linux. the book is worth reading even if you know the stuff,
because it's quite hilarius. i already lawned it to a few people who loved
it and found it useful.

if you need an ISBN number or something, let me know.

As for the hebrew K&R book - i only saw the 1st edition, and i could
recommend NOT to read it. the translation was rather awfull (althought
some students in the technion actually used it, since they had problems
with the english version, but none of them said it was a good book).
