Apology
Hi Chevre!
I used a too biting language in one of my previous messages. Since
I didn't mention any name (in order to prevent offending), at least
most of you (and hopefully all of you) don't know what I am talking
about (and it is good). Anyway, if anybody does know, I apologize
for using that language. Although I still don't agree with anything
written by him (and sometimes I'll explain it personally by phone, I
really don't have time to write long English e-mail messages), there
is no place to use this language in general, especially in public
forum like mailing lists.
I decided to send this apology immediately after pressing the "Send"
button of the original message, but I didn't have time for it till
now (I am *very* busy). I really didn't have any intention to start
a flaming war (which, indeed, didn't started).
Anyway, I want to keep the excellent relations with all of you.
Regarding to Hebrew for the Linux version of Netscape:
I am asked by many, and I'll answer it here once:
Under the 3.* versions, Netscape had dynamically linked version for
most of the platforms, except for some, including Linux. libXm was
statically linked. I would love to do a Linux port, but it was
impossible :-(
Under the 4.* versions, there was actually a fully dynamically
linked version (not the default executable). I had plans to port the
Hebrew support from version 3 to 4, but didn't have time for it till
now (in contrast, the Hebrew of 3.01 was put on the net for
downloading a few (!) hours after the official launching by Netscape
Communication Corp.).
Now, that I was finally ready to move to 4.04, the atomic bomb (not
of Saddam, but of Netscape) fell on us. I must re-thinking before
continuing. Source level support, can be even better than the
support I gave till now. I am waiting for more details about times
and schedules, and what is expected to be included in the published
sources (Java? mailer? editor? news? RSA?) before deciding. You are
not invited to help me to decide; I already have the best sources
for news (and rumors).
