We have similar problems, but it's not such a throughput-reducer. Beware,
though, of the range involved. They promised 1.5 km range back then, today
they promise 1 km range, but in practice, anything beyond 150 meters
starts a long long retransmission sequence on each packet, which roughly
gives a throughput of a modem.
