Try using gpm as your mouse server. To do this you"ll need to create fifo
called /dev/gpmdata (if it is not there yet) and configure X as following:
in section "pointer device" (or "pointer"? anyway, that section that tells
X about your mouse) write

Section "Pointer"
    Protocol "MouseSystems"
    Device "/dev/gpmdata"

in rc.local (in case of Slackware, in SysVinit systems this is located
somwhere in /etc/rc[1-3], don't remember and does'nt have a Debian machine
there), change gpm line to something like "gpm -m /dev/mouse -t ms -R"
The -R switch will do the retransmitting of all your mouse input into the
fifo:)
BTW: This is my prefferred way to configure X pointers, even if there are
no problems:)
 :Ideas anyone?
