THere is a quite active news group for CDR's on Linux which I am
following. I use HP 6020 which has No problems I know Hp 7100 IDE will
work well.
You will get better speed if you put your CDR on a different controller
but it does not matter if this is a second IDE or a SCSI.
Look in the Linux repositories for cdrecord and xcdroast. both run
hardware competability lists.
