Hi.

First, use a mailer that can break lines.

I don't know the answer but have two ideas.
1. Did you set LD_LIBRARY_PATH correctly?
2. Do you have startkde in your .xinitrc file?

Can you give us some more information:
1. What distro and what version of it (I guess you're using Debian since
you typed dpkg).
2. Did you compile and installed it yourself or not?

3. What version of QT you have installed.

4. What version of the support kde libraries you have installed.

5. When the X server crashes what is written on the screen? (You can
`startx >& Xerr` and send me/linuxil the file)
