i'd have to second that. the registry editing seemed to be a simple
solution to this problem (thought i still have a different problem having
to do with win95's inability to login to a network server as a user other
then that which logged into that win95 box - anyone knows of a
solution/workaround for this?).
as long as one uses samba in a restricted environment, i wouldn't try a
solution that keeps several password files and has to sync them.
by the way - we installed samba both on linux and on solaris, both getting
their passwords files via NIS, and samba recognizes all the NIS users and
their passwords (now, i think i chose some option for that when i compiled
samba, but i don't remember, it was rather long ago).
on the other hand - our network is rather small, so i never had to
consider the problem of supporting many users.
