If that would be the only thing broken in those 4.5[g..] bioses then I'd
praise it as an excellent product. I still have a clock that takes
quantum leaps every time the power goes on or off on a certain machine.
AMI is MUCH better for Linux use. Incidentally, it's not always 'condo'.
OTOH, if the computer is secured and the floppy is /dev/fd1 (B:), then
even after hacking the BIOS nothing bad can happen, and there is a way to
restore the BIOS to defaults during boot and reboot the machine by
software automatically if it does not match the chosen configuration. I
wrote a routine in assembly once for that and it can be inserted into the
startup code of the kernel if required.
