ARP is used for translation between IP and Ethrnet (MAC) adresses 
So, you should see them. Do you see ARP-replyes ?

Tcpdump output on lionux should really help. Since network 
at your home probably no so big <g> you could easily see
what happens from tcpdump. You can send me the output and
I'll try to help you :-)
