Subject: InterBase for Linux for free!
My company has decided to release our RDBMS product for Linux for free.
InterBase 4.0 in all its glory, no crippling, no partial functionality.
Now you can run the same software that runs the stock trading floor at
Philedelphia and Boston Stock Exchanges, as well as many other
business-critical operations.
The catch is that this is one release back from our current release.
A port to Linux of InterBase 5 is currently in the works as a
commercial offering, but the plan is for InterBase 4 for Linux to
continue to be available as freeware. We'll make our money off of
people who want support, maintenance, and the latest features and
enhancements.

Caveat: this is tested only on Red Hat Linux 4.2. There are known
compatibility issues running this software on Red Hat Linux 5.0, since
that OS has introduced the new GNU libc, which has either bugs or
design differences that make the new libc not a seamless replacement.
I thought the folks in this forum would appreciate knowing about this
offering.
