The relevant documents in the public domain are the following:
- The Hebrew-HOWTO
- The Hebrew LaTeX documentation (comes with Hebrew fonts on LaTeX on most
Linux CDs)
- huji.ac.il has a ftp/http repository of fonts and documents for
Hebrewization, including for UNIX. Many Israeli web sites have pointers to
this location. It is not directly relevant to Linux.
- There is a set of instructions for installing hebrew fonts into Netscape
on Linux. You may want to search the archives of this list. These are
also available at the site mentioned above.
- There is a hebrew version of pico+pine available among other places from
ftp.ibm.net.il/pub. It is fairly recent and allows hebrew email to be
composed and received.
- There are keyboard maps and console fonts for hebrew in most Linux
distributions. RTFM kbd and the associated documentation.
- It is not clear how to make a console mapper (.uni) that makes MDA
consoles with fixed hebrew in EPROM work well, but I am trying to make it
work.
- Eli Marmor or El-Mar software has ported Motif for hebrew, but there is
no free Linux version. If you want to buy, he may have something for you.
This is about it. I suppose that more specific questions will be answered
if you ask them.
