Yes, I know. OTOH, Linux requires only a timer and an interrupt handler to
work on *any* machines with i386 or more and enough RAM. The interrupt
handler is only required for the timer interrupt... Everything else can
work in polled mode (but it would be inefficient) And if they happen to
be in non-standard places, then the relevant .S files can be edited as
required, and a kernel recompiled...
