PCMCIA Modem
Hi, fellow Linuxers (so to speak.)
I have a problem with PCMCIA Modem. It wont
connect to my ISP.
My configuration is Pentium 120, 16Mb RAM.
Modem: ActionTec 33.6 Datalink.
Linux: Slackware 3.4.
I already upgraded PCMCIA to the latest 3.0.5 (I
think.)
I use PPPSetup to configure my pppd. It's a nice script that
everybody likes.
When I try to dial (ppp-go), It has trouble initiating the
modem. Now, in windows it has 's11=50' as Init String. I put that too and
managed to get it to weekly dial. But again it wouldn't connect me. I read at
PCMCIA FAQ that it maybe because of IRQ problem. So I reconfigured PCMCIA to be
on IRQ 12. It was on 3. No effect. No change at all.
HELP :-))
I fu@#ed with this laptop for 6 (!) hours and I managed doing
nothing (besides headache).
Sincerely,
Alon
