I got a standard serial mouse (microsoft via ttyS0 ) and
I got a box which swap computers connected to the
mouse, keyboard and screen ( so i can use both linux
and winNT with the same keyboard, screen and mouse )

i have switched it a lot of times, and the mouse never
 did any trouble for me.

btw: so not buy this switching box, the box isn't terminated so
good, so i get my screens to look ugly.
