well, as far as I have read, a few objections HAVE been made, but here is
mine: I simply can't read the entire subject line when I list all the
messages in the folder in pine, and it's annoying to stretch the Xterm
each time a list has that "feature". I am on over 20 lists, and was once
on more than 40, and I simply used either procmail or some homebrewed perl
ruleset to seperate the messages. Netscape has rulesets too, btw.

check your procmail manpage on how to filter random headers, such as:
Sender: owner-linux-il@cs.huji.ac.il

These days, since all my systems feature Qmail, I simply subscribe as
ira-lists-<listname>@scso.com and let my .qmail files do the sorting in
the most correct way (if you post a message to the list and CC: to me,
I'll get a copy in each folder - Inbox AND linux-il)

short of this is: the subject string is a kluge. I don't mind if majordomo
adds it at the END of the subject line, but in the beginning, it's VERY
annoying.
