Linux time machine: netdate fm .ac.il took me to 2036...
Hello,
I used netdate to set the clock for a test from 3 academic sites
(weizmann, technion, tau). This worked, except the time shown on the
computer after that (date) was November 2036... I did not specify the
protocol to be used.
netdate says (with the help of strings) that it is V1.16 of 85/08/01 !!
but compiled with GCC 2.6.4. File date Dec 6 1995, size 8992.
The connection was PPP by modem. I am stunned. Isn't this the '31 bit'
integer date roll-over magic number (Nov. 2036) ?
the tz was not set when I ran the command (I was hoping for a sane
outcome). Ideas ?
thx,
Peter
