Re: Formal request : Add [linux-il] to subject
Hi.
I run Pine. As far as I'm concerned, no Unix user has any excuse for this
request. procmail has been ported to every popular unix out there... off
the top of my head you need three lines in .procmailrc:
:0:
* ^TOlinux-il
linux-il
that will put any mail from the linux-il list to a separate folder in your
mail directory (MAILDIR=$HOME/mail) which shows up in the Pine folder
list.
Netscape Mail (windows, unix, mac, etc) also has full filtering support.
Just setup a filter for "linux-il" on the TO line.
Most mailers, in fact, have filtering abilities. Just follow the same
steps as above.
So, I'm opposed... for the same reasons as everyone else:
- its not necessary
- it conceals the subject line in colomised views
- its a big waste of bandwidth (especially for the list maintainer)
