Re: News from all over (fwd)

A real scoop (don't look for it at slashdot; It's a *real* scoop!):

A serious intention among some of the "Apache Group" staff to
release 1.3b7 (Release Candidate) on 8.5.98, and 1.3.0 (the final!)
on 16.5.98. After a development process longer than one year, some
jokers suggested renaming the "Apache 2.0" release to "Apache 2000"
;-)

http://www.netcraft.com is going to publish tomorrow its new
survey, in which Apache (including its derivatives) hold more than
50% of the web server installations. Save this survey: In the next
survey, there will be already Windows/95/NT users among the users
of Apache, so the numbers of Apache users will start to jump.
Apache 1.3.0 will run under Windows, so it may exceed 70%-80% of
the web sites till the end of 1998. Let's hope there will not be
any UNIX/Linux user that will migrate to Win because of the
availability of Apache for Windows.
