[Linux Hebrew] RFF (Request For Favor) - Pointers to information
A Request For Favor to all of those Linux-IL participants who are
generously allowing me to pick their brains for information about
existing Hebrew support under Linux in all of its forms:
When you mention some information as being available on the Internet
about our favorite subject of discussion,
Please,
please, please,
p-l-e-a-s-e, p-l-e-a-s-e, p-l-e-a-s-e,
Give a complete URL AFTER you have verified that it is working
and leading to the page intended.
It has been my unpleasant experience more than once (I'll not mention
names in order to protect the guilty) that I was told that information
about Y exists in "the site about X" or something similar. Only to find
that the information is not available or not easily found, or someone who
told me that he "may have the HOWTO" which I need - finds that he no
longer has it on his PC and doesn't know exactly where it can be found.
An example of someone who did provide a crisp, bright, shiny, glittering
and clear URL is Eli Marmor in the following:
"It is called "Portable Layout Services" (PLS), and
you can find it at:
http://www.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/9638399/toc.htm"
Most of the message which included the above gem was obnoxious (don't
tell him that! :-) ), but this was more than made up by inclusion
of this brilliant diamond of URL in the mud of the rest of the message
(and some of the discussion which prompted the message).
Thanks beforehand,
--- Omer
