A Linux box can be connected to an NT server if and only if the NT server
offers TCP/IP services, and has the Microsoft-specific chap/pap security
feature turned off, i.e. it uses a public domain security protocol,
instead of the proprietary Microsoft protocol, with which only Microsoft
OSes can communicate.
A Linux box can act as a share (file and / or printer), or as a server
using the samba package.
Dynamic IPs are supported by etherboot packages for diskless Linux
workstations booting from a NT server, and by the pppd daemon for
connections over serial lines (such as modem).
Ethernet connections are supported natively by Linux, and work over
TCP/IP and IPX/SPX.
hope this helps,
