I had a similar situation once, trying to compile & run just the same "Hello
World" program;
Problem was I named the executable 'test' , and tried to run it with 'test'
which of course invoked the shell built-in 'test' command.
Output was visible when I did './test' ...
Hope your problem is as trivial as mine was ...

There is one (actually there R two) called wpe or xwpe (X-window ver.); It
ships with RedHat 5.x but of course there's no problem to locate it ...
I've worked with it, it's nice but looks kind'a ugly under X.
The other one, called rhide, looks actually exactly like Borland TC 3.0 IDE
and is part of DJGPP 2.01.
The main URL for RHIDE is http://www.tu-chemnitz.de/~rho/rhide.html
and specific to the linux RHIDE you can use also
http://www.tu-chemnitz.de/~rho/rhide-linux.html
Haven't worked with it, and i think it cann't be run under X at all.
Hope this helps ...
