hebrew and netscape
HI
I'm trying to view hebrew with my netscape communicator (4.05-6) .
I have done all that have been instructed in the
document pointed out by www.linux.org.il, but:
1. as I recall, In netscape3, I used hebrew fonts
at the 'western encoding (i.e. iso-8859-1)' though hebrew is 8859-8.
this was doen by writing some lines into .Xdefaults, but does not work
in this version of netscape. also if i put these lines, the hebrew font
does not appear in the user-defined font-list.
( the lines are:
Netscape*documentFonts.charset*iso8859-8:iso-8859-1
*documentFonts.latin1.variable.italic*slant: r
*documentFonts.latin1.variable.boldItalic*slant: r
*documentFonts.latin1.variable*family: hebrew
*documentFonts.latin1.fixed*family: hebrew
*documentFonts.latin1*registry: iso8859
*documentFonts.latin1*encoding: 8
)
2. even using user defined font, netscape does not agree to show
documents in hebrew font (but does if i do 'view source')
3. whenever I do edit->properties->fonts->user defined, netscape
replaced the font I've picked up with the default one.
4. printing: I've made a hebprint script, which is executable, and
runs o.k. if i do 'cat netscape.ps|/usr/bin/hebprint|lpr' but does
not print from netscape : if i put /usr/bin/hebprint|lpr from the
print command, i get: 'sh:/usr/bin/print: no such file or directory'
any ideas ?
Thanks
Erez.
