Computax
Well, as usual, we are in critical status of the last minute...
Contents:
========
CDs (the most critical), brochures, posters/banners, hardware,
money, booth manning, and my (too big) signature.
CDs:
===
The most pressing problem is the CDRs. I had some notes which were
ignored by everybody, so let me quote myself again:
> The major problem is PACKAGING! We cannot just burn the CDs. We
> must have a paper (in Hebrew?) with a brief description, and
> pointers to READMEs in the CD and to URLs on the net. We must
> have a label (for the CD) and a cover. We must test the CDs. We
> must add a typical boot diskette. Don't forget, we charge money
> for the CDs, we must invest at least minimal efforts.
In addition, I don't have neither an experience nor time for this
job. Somebody with experience with burning and/or packaging CDRs,
PLEASE VOLUNTEER TO BE RESPONSIBLE for this job and to manage
others who volunteer to do the hard work (I have a list). I mean
someone who has enough experience to use (for example) the "-m"
during mirroring, to verify the CDRs after burning, to mention in
the paper that none of us has any guarranty (except for replacing
a deffective media) and that everything is given "as-is", etc.
BTW: Because of these problems, I think we have to lower the price
to $16.90 (instead of $19.90).
Brochures:
=========
We have advertizers (though not too many). I made the graphics, and
Shachar will print them (let's pray that his printer will not fail)
Regarding to advocacy: I'll write in in the last minute and will
use a simple copier machine.
Graphics for the walls (posters and banners):
============================================
Will be ready on time.
Hardware:
========
Tuvik closed with Milton. One will be pre-installed with NT, but
will be used as a second screen for the second computer. We wanted
it to be NT, so we can demonstrate interoperability (mainly Samba
and smbfs, and maybe some VNC too, depending on the performance).
The NT will come with Office, for optional remote running (by
VNC). Installation of the second (i.e. Linux) will be simple, and
I don't forecast problems.
Money:
=====
Currently, it looks that I'll cover much less than half of the
direct costs, but maybe it is because of the sloooow snail-mail.
Anyway, don't worry for this problem, the other issues are more
critical.
Manning the booth:
=================
Please volunteer. Choose any time you want. In the worst case (if
the booth will be too crowded) you will have time to travel around
the other booths (though Computax is a boring exhibition). But
please let me know before the exhibition.
P.S. If you have something urgent to tell me (well, most of the
things are urgent...), please call me, since most of the time I am
not near my e-mail (use 050-237338, and most of the time also 09-
7679863).
Thanks to all the volunteers,
