I think it is not. I cannot find any reason to create yet another
"standard". Instead, I'd make sure Linux goes along with the
commercial so-called "open" standards.

Let's face it: there is a standard on the commercial UNIX market. It
is called Unix95/98. All (that is, all) commercial UNIX vendors are
doing their best to comply with it. It would be extremely advantageous
for Linux to move in the same direction.
