my poor illusioned Peter (and this goes out to all other spam-naiive
people on the list) those list removers never take you off, they just
collect addresses that way.
what I do is simple: create junk Email addresses for every different
service I use (easiest with Qmail and a shell account, but a free account
on mail.yahoo.com will do), and when it fills out with spam I throw it
out.
if you have a Qmail system, you simply use a different address for each
service, infact I invent them on the fly as I subscribe to new services.
if spam ever comes in through that address, I can A. block it and B. have
undenyable proof that a specific service is selling my address to
strangers. (so out there on the net there are addresses of mine looking
like ira-nospam-lists-linux-il@scso.com).
sorry for the OT post, back to the regular scheduled programs:
FYI:
the generalQA list on Jonathan's machine is dead, and since in the last
24H noone replied to my offer of reopening one with a different address,
I'm removing them from my inbox and will stop posting them. Webmaster:
please remove the addresses of that list from the www.linux.org.il site.
btw, while you are at it, please fix the subscribe and post addresses to
point at cs.huji.ac.il, since Jonthan's system no longer takes care of
mail to linux.org.il.
