Re: asp server for linux

Do not get near ASP! It's an awful system with poor encoding, reliance on
OLE/ActiveX which is light years away from CORBA, which is fully spported
on UNIXes and Windowses. Just enabling is a security breach waiting for
happen.

Use PHP 3.0, and you'll find it's much more superior and secure than ASP
is. You can also extend it without having to use Visual Basic either. Last
time I took a look at ASP it didn't have a function to send an E-mail via
SMTP. Plus, there's no telling when is MS going to release a stable port
of OLE-DB, much less the 6 other object databases technologies that are
supposed to exist on windows. In any case, perl or python, even on an NT
are light-years away.

The best way to avoid being harmed by using MS software at the moment is
not to trust it all. I.e: connect it to a LAN by using a Linux/OpenBSD
bridge+firewall on a PCI card.

Sorry, but MS made so many mistakes that preveneted NT from being 100% GNU
compliant today, that I'm really pissed off, and I generally hate the
clueless-ness and narrow-mindedness of Windows hackers.
