Slandering and the whole leb.net thing

  Good afternoon,

I think I speak for everyone when I say that the whole leb.net thread
has grown out of proportion, and further corespondence about it should be
channeled to private mail.

The whole thing was blown out of proportion by security companies, and
mostly by the media. All this said, I think the leb.net administration,
and the one who is doing the survey have proved themselves worthy of this
maltreatment. In order to conduct a survey, the parties that are being
probed MUST BE ANNOUNCED. It is unthinkable to just send random packets
over the Internet, and query servers that one doesn't own without
annoucing to their owners beforehand. It is an invasion of privacy, too
bad that no one will sue these people in a US federal court.

On top of this, these people, instead of apologizing (something the
newspaper and the "security" company who sent the alert should do as
well), they go out and slander someone whom in my eyes represents what
proffesional is all about, someone who has nurtured the Internet in Israel
from it's very beginning, and someone who is still the most prominent
figure in Internet routing in Israel today. (I'm speaking of Hank
Nussbacher). I am sure that many (if not all) people on this list share
this view, together with anyone who has ever worked with Hank.

Best regards,

--Ariel
