fips (or better yet fips15) was my first enternce 
to the Linux world ;-)
it worked fine to slice my (now) R.I.P vfat fs 
didn't damaged the files , did not loos any date .

just remember to run defrage befor you start , 
and for any case backup. ( i meen with the fips15 util )
