I wanted to answer a similar answer, although I didn't try VNC, but
since it implements a low level of Windows graphics (I guess GDI),
which must be lower than the level of the BiDi, fonts, right to left
geometry, keyboard management, etc., then it should be transparent
for the Hebrew. Exactly as non-Hebrew devices (I mean, that you don't
have any problem to print Hebrew on a non-Hebrew printer from PC with
Windows, since the rendering is implemented in the computer and not
in the printer).
Anyway, regarding to running Hebrew MS applications under UNIX, I
have a *much* more important news: I missed Sun's conference last
week, but as I heard, a Hebrew version of SoftWindows (from Insignia)
was demonstrated. Probably, Insignia got the full source of the Hebrew
Windows from Microsoft (they are already licensees of the sources of
the English Windows, as well as some other localized versions). As I
was told, the Hebrew versions of some popular MS applications (such as
MS-Word), were demonstrated successfully (i.e. without GPF :-) .
I didn't see it myself (only heard about it), and also don't know if
such a version is available for Linux (I am sure that its performance
should be better on Intel than on SPARC, since no Assembly translation
is needed).
Did anybody see it? It can be cool, at least for some of us who are
going to throw their other PC (with Windows) or their other partition,
if it will be possible to run Word directly from LINUX...
