Dear Friend,
Your are not a sucker, just ignorant.
As an importer of software I am fully aware of how much a Cheapbytes 1.99
CD costs in Israel. Here it is:
1. Cost of CD 1.99
2. Postage 4.20
3. Insurance (sometimes things get lost in the post) 0.75
4. Visa or Mastercard finance charges 1.50
Add to this the fact that you have to have a minimum order of about $10,
and you're already talking about real money.
If you are a commercial importer you also have to either pay customs or
get a certificate of origin (about $15), and pay an import agent to get the
package out of customs. You also have to get a foreign currency permit
from Mas Hacnasa to buy software overseas (this last thing is an
anachronism that will probably be eliminated soon).
Add to the above the finance charges for keeping an inventory, a web site
a clerk to handle the sales, postage in Israel and you will see that the
prices that Maagarei Tocnah gives are in fact realistic.
