are you going to make the students buy NT? or will the university supply
them with copies? i dont think tis fair to demand that the students use
good pentiums just to use NT. on the other hand Linux can run on very
crappy[TM] machines, like my 386. (at huji, some students dont even have
computers at home, and it doesnt matter. but i guess thats how things are
at tau).
linux is much more affordable. i think that should be taken into account.
also, we plan to make an installation party in rehovot this month. and i
already installed linux for 3 friends of mine that will be takeing OS next
year at tau. (they thought that they were going to use Java for that course.)
so there are only 97 more students to go :)
