My experience with hackers is they deny everything. After all, you might
be 'the fuzz' *gack*. So of course he'll deny knowing what a buffer
overflow is. If he was a car thief, he'd be going "Hot-wiring? Duh, I
dunno nuffin about dat!".

Because of the constant flood of newbie questions.

Since I've had one of my systems completely overrun by crackers, I have
absolutely NO sympathy for these people. A lot of them are kids who either
think (A) I'm not doing anything wrong, or (B) They'll never catch me,
while at the time they're causing massive amounts of damage in an
incredibly large range of events. Some crackers think it's not a BAD thing
to keep network/system admins up all night patching holes or looking
through logs and fixing damage before it affects valid users. They are
either unaware or they simply don't _care_ about the fact that when you
crack into someone's acocunt you are:
(A) Stealing from that person,
(B) Probably cauing that user to disconnect from his ISP, thus you are
    damaging the ISP's business.
(C) May be responsible for getting people fired.
(D) Causing the SysAdmin to start playiung Tag with you rather than doing
    important things like upgrading servers.

And I'm not even talking about when they start deleting files. Or about
the damage they can do to a corporation.

Glorification of these people is unwaranted and wrong... they are no
better than kids who shoplift because they think it's kewl, and "the shop
has tons of stuff so stealing one pack of chocolate won't hurt them".
