Re: Linux as OS course.
My 2-3 agorot:
1. There is no need to install Linux on every machine for every student.
One can write and understand C programs 'dry'. Whether one such dry person
passes a course end exam is another question.
2. If the problem of using many machines with Linux on a network without
installing it, is solved by the netboot/etherboot package, which allows 1
machine to act as server with Linux or Sun on it, and all other computers
be net-booted into Linux from it.
3. For stuff on teaching Linux, try these sources: slides presented at
various LUGs during presentations around the world, the Linux kernel book,
and an OS book (abstract). When the latter 2 are combined by a teacher he
is usually capable to produce a course in record time.
hope this helps,
Peter
