I can't tell you about Value, but I finished the mirror about 4 days ago,
made me a bootable CD and have already installed it both on my home
desktop and on a company laptop. so far runs smoothly, but I haven't tried
to build any of our products (right now, experiance with 5.0 proved us
that glibc2 will force us to do some work, so our linux builds are still
on 4.2).
comes with gimp, gnome, Netscape, egcs as default compiler, but gcc is
there too. the PCMCIA port on this specific laptop is suspected to be bad
(freezes my machine in either OS when the OS attempts to init a card) so I
can't tell you much about it yet.
other additions include a redhat-optimized linuxconf (much more powerfull
and mature than control-panel, and covers almost all its functions plus a
lot more) with interfaces in curses, tk and gnome. other than that it
looks very much like 5.0...
one hour's work and I got me an ISO image that costs $1 a CD-R to make...
lsl and cheapbytes sell it for more. so no, $50 is to much to pay :-)
