Yes, its a router and an IP  masq server.

Not yet, though i think doing it should give me the desired outcome.

I do not yet have samba configged on this machine, nor do i have a proxy
running. Up until now the linux box had no reason whatsoever to
participate in the local MS shared network, bound over NETBEUI. It just
acted as a TCP/IP gateway out. now i got a new ethercard and another
subnet on it and want the new subnet to share the M$ resources with the
1st subnet. I suppose that Ill need to configure samba to handle the
bridging ? any specific RTFM pointers would be appreciated.. :)
