PCI PnP Modem

Hi.

Has anyone had any luck configuring a PCI modem under linux?

I'm using Redhat 5.0 and a PCI PnP modem which works under window. I'm
not sure it's not a winmodem (though it's probably not, because it
reports a UART)
Another PCI card - my net card - is detected easily by Linux, but the
modem doesn't.
the isapnptools probing does not reveal ANY PnP cards (maybe it only
works for ISA?) and /proc/pci contains information about an "unknown
bridge" at IRQ 11 (which is the modems' IRQ - or so tells me windows
'95)

I tried setserial using the parameters Windows '95 reported - with no
luck. (minicom's screen stares blankly at me)

I also tried #linux, and I was told "Linux does not support PCI modems -
go buy an external modem".

This is a really show stopper for me, and buying an external modem is
not an option. The only alternative is to return to Windows '95. Need I
say more?

Thanks for the help. (and the shoulder to cry on..)
