Re: Linux used as defence vs. monopoly accusations
I cannot believe that someone can have the cheek to quote a freely
available OS developed far away from any economical or financial
constraints (with the exception of many Linux developers being themselves
financially constrained students/poor guys and gals) as a 'competition to
a monopoly' without being held responsible of contempt of the court
(however flattering that may sound to a Linuxer).
It might turn out that the Haloween documents are new & better FUD that
may or may not save M$'s fate in a lawsuit, in this context. If they show
that they have a tactic against an 'enemy' then an enemy exists, thus they
are not alone, thus they are not a monopoly. Very smart. Just like the
thief caught en flagrant accusing the owner of being the thief. Let's see
how good the eyesight of them judges is (I hope it's not the same panel
that reviewed the anti-decoding law).
BTW the price on M$ C++ 6.0 Student Ed. boxes at Bug @Dizengoff TA went
from NIS 380 to NIS 1020 without warning and without concurrence. Yes,
that's a 200% hike. They still have the legend 'applicable products for
upgrade... Borland C' on the side (the upgrade boxes). Now, is THIS
monopoly ENOUGH for someone ?!!!
