DMA Problem with Seagate Medalist

Hi,

I have an urgent problem: I bought a new HD :Seagate Medalist ST34321A. I
copied my old Linux partition to the new one (cp -a) and it all works. There
seems to be a problem with the busmaster DMA. When booting the system
complains upon the partition check about {DriveReady SeekComplete Error} and
goes on. Later on, while working the system got stuck, the HD made some
seeking noises and syslog showed:

hda: dma_intr: status = 0x51 {DriveReady SeekComplete Error}

I had to hard-reset the system and work now under windows95. I am not sure
that the win95 driver is really BM, but it works till now.

Has anybody experienced something like that ? My old IBM DCAA-3430 never had
ANY problems (but it's not udma). my board is a 430VX so it has no udma
interface.

Please reply ASAP since I need a working Linux. I have no problem to replace
the disk.
