gcc says"installation problem cc1plus missing",g++ woun't print

hi everybody, I would very much appreciate if someone could help me..

the problems are :
 1. gcc won't work. when I try to compile something, it says something
like "installation problem, can't find a file or directory named
cc1plus".
I've tried to uninstall and reenstall gcc (ver 2.7.2.3-14) from
rpm,
     no use.
actually I got round this problem by using g++ instead of gcc, at
     least for now.
 2. I wrote a simple "hellow world" program to see if g++ works.
     basiclly I did
     printf("hellow world")
the program compiled and when I ran it - nothing was printed on the

     screen !!
it's as if the stdout was assigned to a different terminal !!!

3. do you know of any good integrated programming env. that is
similar to the good old Borland TC 3.0 that I can use instead of
gcc or g++ ? may be packed in rpm format ? (otherwise it's difficult
for
a new user like myself to install it)
if you know of such, that I don't need to solve the g++ or gcc
    problem.

please help if you know something ...
thanks,
gal.
