I'm not yet using qmail, although it is installed already. We all know
that you are a fierce proponent for that system ;)

Because laymen (i.e. those not on this list ;) think that Internet is made
up of these 3 things, and besides that, there could be some gain in
combining the mail and news machines. Many algorythms can be shared and
inter-operability can improve. You can also have news-by-mail easier. If I
remember well, the main feature of the web server was, it could serve
news automagically like 'the big ones' without CGI. It is also possible
that it could be managed remotely by email (secure ?), but I am not sure.

It was not free. Look in the archives for alinux.announce for last year if
you want to get the original press release. Be warned that I have never
seen it running, I got my information from other's opinions who have tried
it.
