from samba-lataset/docs/WinNT.txt :
" All versions of Windows NT prior to 4.0 Service Pack 3 could negotiate
plain text (clear text) passwords. Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 changed
this default behaviour so it now will only handle encrypted passwords. "
and the hack is a few lines below:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\CurrentControlSet\Services\Rdr\Parameter
and add the velue :
EnablePlainTextPassword:REG_DWORD=1
that fixed it for me.
btw: i had some moreproblems with it , and theres a grait mailing list for
samba at listproc@samba.anu.edu.au.
