I hoped this thread won't develop into a war, but it seems to do so anyway.

Andre, I see many lists where the common practice is to CC the
original sender. This is done mainly in support lists which have high
traffic. The reason for this is that many users on such lists are
subscribed in digest form.

Over the course of time, it turns out to be more satisfactory not to
"dry" people, but to ensure they get an immediate response even if
they are in digest - especially when you can't tell whether a person
is or is not in digest.

Since you are only CCed to messages which relate to your original
post, I would guess that it only means a few more extra messages for
the non-digest reader. Compared to the benefit of digesters, it's
normally no big nuisance. At least not to me - and I send many many
posts on the Postgres mailing lists, and get CCed some two or three
times a day.

Asking people not to CC you is basically asking them not to be
courteous to digest readers. Or to send replies only to you without
benefiting the rest of the members. Or to remember you as a special
case, which is no mean thing in a busy list. So don't look at it as
if people are out to get you and load you already too-loaded mail
feed. There is a reason for it.
