I have recently tried hard to make my outcoming messages have correct
Return-Path header (mailing list I was subscribed to rejected messages with
wrong header). I came to conclusion that this header is sent by my ISP
(internet-zahav) according to the value 'MAIL From' line from SMTP protocol.
I found no way to change that line, other than creating user account on my
machine with user name identical to my ISP user name and using this account
for mail.
