Re: [FLAME!!!] Re: downloading software
I didn't plan to continue this flame war, but since an apology (surprise!
surprise!) was needed, I am writing this one additional message.

OK, I apologize for accusing or hinting that you were the one who posted
the original newbie question.
However, I don't apologize for my criticism of your whining behavior.

I don't think that Gilad or I are contemptuous when we offer people to
send us private E-mail with their newbie questions rather than bother the
entire list (I do remember that Gilad suggested to the original newbie
that the newbie send him his newbie questions by private E-mail).
Last time I looked at the Linux-IL FAQ, my name was there in the role of
someone who volunteered to help newbies.
About suffering newbie questions as price for convincing new people to
join the Linux "religion": as of now, I personally am not trying to
convince anyone to use Linux. I am sure that people in Israel will jump
on the Linux bandwagon of their free will once there are enough
Hebrew-supporting applications running on it. I also don't have time or
patience for idiots. I am most willing to humiliate them and let them go
and bother someone else who has the time, patience and temperament for
dealing with idiots. If this means that they continue to play with
WinIdiot operating systems, so be it.

My apologies, again.

I disagree. Instead of spending 10 minutes looking for documentation, the
poster chose to waste (15 seconds)*(the number of Linux-IL subscribers) by
getting each subscriber to waste 15 seconds to download and read his
newbie question. If the number of Linux-IL subscribers is larger than 40,
then the poster made an inconsidrate decision and he deserves any flames
coming his way.

Yes. If being snob means doing whatever is necessary to maintain the
high quality of the Linux-IL mailing list - yet be available to newbies
who understand the rules and direct their questions to the appropriate
place, then I am the worst snob in the world.

While my ego is so big it's going to explode soon, this is not the
motivation for my negative responses to your whines. I am quite willing
to receive newbie questions by private E-mail (up to a certain limit, of
course, so please don't send me 400 questions in one day). But I
subscribed to the Linux-IL mailing list in order to enjoy and participate
in high-quality discussions with people who don't have time or
inclination for newbie questions.

I am always happy to play the role of an annoying person to clueless
whining newbies. As far as I am concerned, clueless&inconsidrate whining
newbies are shit and if they get lost, nobody would care about them.
