delivery refusal (DNS not listed)

I've just recently set up my RH 5.2 to send/recieve email. I'm using sendmail (configuration unchanged since it was automatically installed) fetchmail and mutt. I can recieve my mail just fine, but about half of the time that I send mail it gets returned to me because my domain doesn't match my IP address.

This is an example of an attachment I get explaining why my email was refused.

The original message was received at Sat, 6 Mar 1999 21:56:54 +0200
from dmr@localhost

   ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
xyz@aol.com

   ----- Transcript of session follows -----
... while talking to zc.mx.aol.com.:
>>> MAIL From:<dmr@localhost.localdomain> SIZE=849
<<< 550 <dmr@localhost.localdomain>... Sender domain not found in DNS (see RFC
1123, sections 5.2.2 and 5.2.18).
554 xyz@aol.com... Service unavailable

--------------------------------------------

The problem is obvious, the solution is just a little bit trickier ;).

Should I be sending my mail via the same (POP) server that sends my mail? There is no place that I've found where I need to put the name of my outgoing mail server, like there is in the netscape mail client. Or do I need to somehow change my domain name to something that is true?

Any help and pointers would be much appreciated,
