Help - Connecting to Netvision
Hi all,
I have received the new Red-Hat 5.2, Kernel 2.0.36.
However, I am unable to connect to netvision.
I have received a "Howto" document from Netvision (which is included
to this post)
but was unable to get any modem response. The script stopped
at the point: "Starting call to NetVision..." . (probably pppd
didn't take control)
Any help is welcomed!
Please e-mail me since I'm not on the mailing list.
And one more question: If there's a Lex (lexical Analyzer) in the
Linux Package, under
what name does it reside ? (I've searched the word "lex" but
haven't found any)
Thanks ---Meir
Hi!
Please follow the instructions (as root) in order to connect:
1) Create file called /usr/local/sbin/ppp-nv and enter there:
#!/bin/bash
setserial /dev/modem spd_normal
(
stty 38400 raw -tostop
echo "Starting call to NetVision..." 1>&2
if chat -t 180 -V -f /usr/local/sbin/chat_options
then
pppd /dev/modem 38400 modem crtscts asyncmap 0x000a0000 defaultroute
sleep 5
if ifconfig | grep ppp > /dev/null 2>&1
then
echo "Successfully connected to NetVision!" 1>&2
else
echo "Connection failed" 1>&2
fi
fi
) < /dev/modem > /dev/modem
2) Change mode for that file using:
chmod 700 /usr/local/sbin/ppp-nv
3) Create and edit file /usr/local/sbin/chat_options
ABORT BUSY
ABORT "NO CARRIER"
ABORT "NO DIALTONE"
"" "AT&F1"
OK "ATDT8509222"
CONNECT ""
: "username"
word: "password"
""
4) Change mode for this file too using:
chmod 600 /usr/local/sbin/chat_options
5) Edit the file /etc/resolv.conf:
domain netvision.net.il
nameserver 194.90.1.5
nameserver 199.203.1.20
6) That's all - in order to connect run /usr/local/sbin/ppp-nv as root
For any additional information you're wellcome to call me...
Regards,
Ron Katz
