The higher the resolution, the higher frequency the monitor works at, and the
larger (relative) distortions the switch produces. If you see no difference
between the display connected directly or via the switch, then either the
display is bad as is (not focused or whatever) or you have to pay a visit to
your oculist :)

I was referring to an active switch as opposite to a passive mechanical one
you've bought.
