Support site [was: Adaptec-2940UW hangs...]
Thanks for everyone who answered. The problem was apparently my fault (well it
always is in the end...). The 2940UW requires bus mastering capable PCI slot and
apparently there is only one in my computer (the one next to the ISA slots). I don't
know why it worked with DOS.
In the process I found an interesting support site which might be of some interest
to the group members. Its URL is
http://www.linux-support.net/
and they provide free support by volunteers (you need to register a user). I was
rather dubious, and expected it be a vapoursite, yet I got a response within a day
with the correct solution.
