just few notes

Hi All,

1. Well, I got some emails from Redhat engineers and it appears that the latest
gnome (I think it's 1.0.8) got support for KDE menu's so (as much as I
understand - I'm not using Gnome) you'll be able to use and convert on the fly
your KDE menus so they can appear on the Gnome menus..

2. KDE 1.1.1pre1 is out, which contains lots of bug fixes. PLEASE - if you
download and compile it - read the README files as it appears that GIF support
is disabled (that doesn't including the built in browser) due to license
problems with Unisys. You can enable it by using --enable-gif-support (if I'm
not mistaken) with the configure command. It also got lots of bugs fixes and
security fixes. I'm not sure if the latest icons (which look excellent) will be
included.

3. VMWare - My sources tells me that indeed, the company (actully a start-up)
re-thinks about it's prices, and may add some prices besides students. Another
running rumor is that there are 2 big vendors who sells Linux today that plan to
sell Linux machine with VMWare pre-installed..

4. Comdex is soon on US - and Linux will be there big time.. watch www.zdnn.com
for the latest. I'm not sure - but I think Linus speech will be videotaped and
played on the web...

5. Caldera OpenLinux 2.2 will be out tommorow and I'm already checking (my gosh,
my phone bill will be huge this month), with my sources who can put the fastest
way an ISO image of it (the free version - I'm not looking for troubles with
Caldera), and I'll try to have it by tuesday or wednsday out. cross fingers :)

6. All of those Visual C++ lovers, pay a good attention to KDE. The new version
of KDevelop (a new enviroment for building KDE Applications) will be definately
something to look for, and looks like Visual C++, and there will be a dialog
builder which reminds the VC++ - it really looks cute...

Thanks
Hetz
