Do you have a boot floppy that does ot even try to access the SCSI drives.  If you
do try to boot with this.
If it still does not boot, chances are you do not have Linux problem, but a hardware
configuration problem.   From your above description it sounds like it never even
tries to boot the OS.  Also, these SCSI adapters (as you probably know) have
firmware utilities that allow you to setup things like what is the boot drive.  You
may need to set this.
