1. I wasn't aware that KDE came with RedHat 5.2 (or any other version), was
it the Basic RedHat, the Powertools, ...?

I do not know which version you have, but I recommend that once 1.1 is out
(in a couple of days) you upgrade, since I recall hearing about many
bugfixes including 'configuration-ignoring'.
