Re: Help - Connecting to Netvision
Hello,
First aff all to clear things up for you, the file you recived from netvision
is not by any meen a howto. one concerning ISPs connections and other more
can be found at http://sunsite.unc.edu/LDP/HOWTO.
now, for your truble.
first i recommend using ppp-2.3.5. go to seek
ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/system/network/serial/ppp/ppp-2.3.4.lsm
and find what is the primery site, there you can download the software.
after compiling and installing you can take a look at the scripts directoy
for some examples of how things should look, go type man pppd and man chat
for ferther information. that is basicly it.
Oh, looking again in your post i see thet its a modem probelm (?)
does your machin know the modem ?
type in dmesg too see what the kernel knows about your hardware,
make sure it find the modem, pherhaps ttyS0/ttyS1.
ferther more make sure PPP is compiled into the kernel,
if it's not, either compile a new kernel, or compile only PPP as a module which
then you'll have to load when using ppp. both ways works.
again, all information can be found in the above HOWTO archive.
Good luck,
Guy.
