It seems that you have a problem with identifying serial ports on
motherboard. In case you use serial mouse, check for "disabled serial
ports" or something like that. try quering serial ports with setserial
command to keep track of what you are doing.
In any case, if you will have problems with mouse in X, but not on ttys,
you can use gpm to behave like mouse for X. To do this, tell X that your
mouse is on deviccce "/dev/gpmdata" and it is of type "MouseSystems".
check whether devicce /dev/gpmdatas exists, if not - create it with mkfifo
command (gpmdata is not character-oriented special device, but a named
pipe).
then, change gpm params at boot (/etc/rc.d/init.d/gpm) to start with '-R'
switch, wich will cause gpm to retransmit all data to /dev/gpmdata as well
as to process events by itself. man gpm for details.
