Hi,

Try checking the lpd deamon, you should have something like:

/etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S50lpd.init

which is called by init program on runlevel 3.

also look for a line like this :
lp1 at 0x0378, (polling)

at your boot log, (obtained by typing: dmesg).

Or try to kill any pending jobs by lprm <jomnum> ..
