Latest Gates FUD wrt Linux: Gates shoots his own company in the foot

Hi,

I got a newsletter from geocities, and one article is about Gates. He
seems to have said that: "there was clearly a market for
free software but this was mainly confined to relatively simple
applications such as word processors and spreadsheets".

imho this is a brilliant shot in the foot of Microsoft by its own
chairman because it is well-known that one of the few killer applications
that have advanced MS Windows have been integrated office suites, that do
mostly... word processing and spreadheets.

From this, one can infer that both of the following statements are true:

a) Windows 95/98 is appropriate for running simple applications, like word
processing and spreadsheets, since these brought its *success*, and,

b) That Mr. Gates deems Linux to be as apropriate as Windows 95/98 for
running the same type of software Windows 95/98 is appropriate for.

Congratulations, Mr. Gates. More like this, please.

;)

	Peter
