Dan Bernstein chose - instead of + at some point, I don't remember where
it is explained, but ira-friends, or my mailing list ira-tech are both
managed by me in my home directlry with ~ira/.qmail-friends and
~ira/.qmail-tech respectively. AFAIK there is a definition .h file you can
edit for Qmail at compile time to make it use + too. I personally don't
know what difference it makes other than - is indeed sometimes used in
usernames (never saw + in a username), but on the other hand, ira-tech is
more readable at a quick glance than ira+tech (at least with my current
font). I have no idea if there are deeper technical reasons...
