I must add that sometimes man -k is not enough.
My ways for finding documentation:
man -k
'SEE ALSO' section of a related man page
less /var/lib/dpkg/<package>.list
/usr/doc/<package>
zgrep in /usr/man/...
zgrep in /usr/info
less /var/lib/dpkg/available (descriptions of all available packages)
here I go on-line and use a search engine (and still haven't decided on
a good one).
The places I gave are on debian. Can a RH user give the relevant?
Also, debian has a package called dwww, that is supposed to make all
available doc readable through WWW (perhaps searchable?).
Haven't tried it.
