I don't think the switch can cause a flickering. I'd say the refresh rate you
used is too low (50-60 Hz, probably). This as well can explain why the picture
itself seems to you fine. The distortions the mechanical switches produce are
mainly a result of signal reflections and interference inside of the unshielded
and not impedance-tuned switches, seen as shadows to the right of contrast
details of the picture. The distortions grow very fast with the frequency (as
cube at least, I think).
