Some ideas for the Linux event
Ok, got some ideas which I think we'll need for the Linux event in
computer world. If someone from Compaq or PF1 reads this and can help -
please tell me (or us).
Graphics, Graphics .. and more Graphics
---------------------------------------
We all know that Linux is one of the most stable OS's out there, and got
some really nice features.
However, people LOVE graphics.
My idea - 2 machines: 1 with KDE 1.1 and another one with GNOME (with
Enlightentment DR 0.15) will show that Linux not only can do the job well,
but to show some stunt graphics that Windows 95/98/NT/2000 can only envy!
another graphics idea (just an idea) to show Quake 2 on voodoo 2 SLI. I
know many people will LOVE to see Quake2 on Linux :)
Hebrew
------
I think it's time to show that Linux has got a bit progress with the
Hebrew issue (for those who didn't know - KDE 1.1 got hebrew keys support,
but not RTL directions or "push" mode yet).
(Eli - can u make the effort to make a "preview" copy of Netscape with
Hebrew support?)
Also Ziv and Erez who wrote some support for the KDE and GTK/GNOME - can u
make something that people can see and use to put it on those demo
machines?
Business Solutions
------------------
We need to show that Linux CAN replace Windows NT Small Business Server,
Microsoft Proxy, Microsoft Exchange, IIS etc.. This can be written on the
broschure or maybe given as an example on 1 of those machines. Linuxconf
tool can be shown as a solution for easy setup of Linux.
These are just some ideas for the Linux event.
