$0.02 idea:
Give everyone a web page on one of the servers, make it a cgi script. Each
user can 'publish' his data onto it, as plain text, usgin a certain page
in his private tree, a Perl or shell script marks this up when
read-accessed by anyone. People can add pictures etc as they wish. Text
based records should have an expiry date (parseable date). If you want no
headaches, allow only submission by form (for ea. user). Same form can be
used to access deletion. The CGI should run as user X so it can only
access the user's pages. Could be Javascript since you trust them ;)
