RE: Sendmail masquerading

Hello,

I have few general advises for you (without getting into the specifics of
your problem)

1. Most important: Don't edit the /etc/sendmail.cf yourself. Use the m4
configuration macros.
2. Read carefully http://www.sendmail.org/m4/masquerading.html
3. Add whatever you need according to the above document to your macro
configuration file.

and create the sendmail.cf file:

For example:

m4 /usr/lib/sendmail-cf/cf/redhat.mc > /etc/sednmail.conf

Warm Regards,
Oved

Subject: Sendmail masquerading

Hi all,

It's 0900 and I want to finally go to bed, but I can't because sendmail
won't masquerade. Aarggggh!

I have my linux system, which I (arbitrarily) called alhambra. Which
means that when I send mail from the console, I'm known as
root@alhambra. My ISP, however, will only accept mail from
mulix@ibm.net. So I'm trying to set up masquerading with sendmail, to no
avail. The /etc/sendmail.conf appears allright, my rules seem to be in
there, but when I send mail, I keep getting from the smtp server the
error 451- deffered- root@alhambra- unknown. Obviously sendmail is not
masquerading.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!
