Re: RedHat in Israel

A small clarification due to the replies I got.
I meant that if they do with money as they claim, i.e., sponsor Linux
events in Israel (which I now understand is more of an empty claim than
anything else), then it's plausible. However, I don't think any academic
institute, students and staff, will buy anything from them, since most of
the CCs, at least ours, support Linux, and have a mirror of the RedHat
image, so there is absolutely no need to buy anything from them. So, if
they want to interest the private sector, as Guy calls them, the ones with
less or no money, they should rethink their pricing policy, and maybe
offer a different pricing scheme for commercial clients, (the full RedHat
release, with all the goodies), while offering a lighter version (like
cheapbytes) for a lower price. OTOH, if this is unacceptable, they should
only sell to the commercial sector. Moreover, if they do not offer any
kind of support, then they should leave selling Linux to resellers.
