The Linux Event

Hello All,

I've came back a while ago from the linux event. I think it was a big
success.
Eli organized an excellent event.
The KDE (w/ some lame hebrew support :) and Eli's amazing port to hebrew of
netscape made good impression (much better than there really should be -
regarding hebrew on linux at the time being...).
The lectures were good, and mostly interesting.

The only miss I felt was the presentations in the end. The
gnome&Enlightenment were not setup'ed, and showed only on screen shots, and
while trying to present materials from the internet, there were connection
problems which made the crowd start leaving.

Other than that - excellent event. The place was totally full - and
amazinlgy enough more than half the people who came to the even never worked
on linux. (according to some "raise your hands... " poll that was made by
Yossi Vardi).

PF1 Helped a lot. And sold both RR5.2 and SuSE6 outside - I think they sold
quite a lot.
Oracle helped a lot in the organization. I DO think that if they ported
oracle to linux, and are arranging a linux convention, it would be right to
put on the information CD a client for linux too and not only Win/Mac.

That's about it...

Eli - thanks for all the hard
work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ofer.

P.S. to all the critics - Yossi Vardi's lecture was one of the best there.
