mp3 problems, compilation woes and ICQ recommendations
I'm trying to get an mp3 player working on my RedHat 5.1 system, with
KDE 1.1.
First I've tried FreeAmp 1.2.0 but could not get any output from it. My
plugins are in the right location, I can play sound and listen to CDs
fine, but no mp3 output.
I've decided to try kmp3. No sound either. The faq tells me to download
the mpg123 and make it. When i try to make it, I get a lot of messages
telling me that make can't find the standard library files, i.e.
stdlib.h, string.h, etc. I think this indicates an even bigger problem
:(
Any and all help, both on how to fix make and on how to play mp3 files,
either with these two players or with some other player will be greatly
appreciated.
One more thing: I'm trying to find and install a decent (doesn't have to
be graphical) icq client. Any recommendations?
These (mp3 and icq) are the only two reasons I still occasionally work
with windoze... Please help me break free :)
