Tell it the brits - they've been having quite a lot of fun recently
with their military satellite software cracked.
Tell it the two bright Iranian guys who are developing massively
parallel stuff on Linux IN IRAN as well and are releasing their stuff
openly.
This is a very American point of view: "Let's assume we are the best,
let's not release sensitive code, ergo nobody would be able to catch
up." Crap, complete crap. In this case you have to take the following
measures as well:
- prohibit sales of Pentiums and AXPs - after all, everybody could buy
a couple hundreds and build an S/C.
- prohibit any operating systems except for DOS - after all people
could develop S/C software.
- Either hire all bright people, or to prohibit them from writing code
or to lobotomize them.
You don't seem to realize that the fact an average person is able to
build a rough analogue of an S/C at home is a reality - just because
computers get faster and cheaper and software gets smarter. That's
what we call progress...
