Re: [off-topic] CPU fan (for a Linux machine)
==getting offtopic, but I'll throw in my 1.5 cents anyway==
Lahat sells 40mm/40mm 32Watt peltier units at 15$ apiece.
here in Israel. manufactured by Melcor.
they want a minimum order of 100$, so I bought 7 for me and friends.
a rough estimation of heat that my K6/2-300 outputs when steaming at
45degrees and no heatsink/cpu fan is 0.3watt. the peltier swallows 32watts
(!) and thats the _SMALLEST_ _CHEAPEST_ and _MOST ECONOMIC_ 40mmx40mm
unit. I got a whole catalogue from them, and there are things in it (that
cost a whole 28$) that can probbably make kryotech smile.
background - peltier unit=semiconductor with two plates, run current
through it, one plate gets cold, other one heats up. apply cold plate to
your CPU to be happy.
looks like a two-sided heatsink with something weird in the middle and two
wires.
For whoever is interested, www.lahat.co.il has their phone #, ask for a
guy named David.
