A remark regarding the "Linux Event" (fwd)

[I had problems trying to mail linux-il@linux.org.il, so I send again to
the cs.huji address. Appologies i you get multiple copies of this
message.]

Just a small point.

Please make the subtle distinction between linux-il and ILUG (Israeli
Linux Users Group).
Both are informal entities, but the former is merely a name for a mailing
list, while the latter is a group of people.
While the intersection between people who consider themselves ILUG members
and people who are linux-il subscribers is considerable, these are still
different entities. ILUG has a very real existence, and although no one
has any control over people who claim to be acting on behalf of ILUG
(since it has no OFFICIAL status), this works in both directions. i.e. -
if Eli and whoever wants to help organize an event in which ILUG is
participating, there's no one who can 'officially' object to that. So that
Eli's act of informing ILUG members through linux-il and asking for their
'approval' is mainly an act of courtesy.
Bottom line - Eli, please go ahead. There are enough group members behind
you, and I'm sure there'll be ebough people from the group who will also
actively lend a hand in the preperations. Also - please make sure to
mention ILUG and not linux-il wherever you do mention the group.
