Yes, this may be silly.  But it is very good insurance against flames at
later time.  By spending few minutes asking for the list's permission, Eli
Marmor saved several days of suffering from flames and sabotage by
overzealous list participants.  Eli also spared himself from charges of
exploiting the list's existence/reputation/whatever for his own commercial
ends.

By the way, my own vote to Eli's question is - YES.
(Even though I continue to argue with him about PLS vs. my plugin
interface. :-) )
