Mailing to mailing lists problems
Thanks to Oren Poleg, head of system at Internet Gold who quickly responded to
my message to the list about their mail gateway, I established some things.
1) My messages contained bogus Return-path header which prevented reporting
invalid mail address errors. ( I think I fixed it by some tinkering with my
sendmail.cf).
2) Mail to my office account didn't work because of Internet Gold mail server
configuration problem. Thanks to Oren, it's now fixed and I can send mail from
home to office.
However, mail I send to some mailing lists seems to be still disappearing.
Some testing seem to indicate that mail sent from netscape works OK, whereas
mail sent from Mutt disappears. What can cause such problem? Examination of
message headers doesn't seem to show problems. As I understand, one difference
is that netscape transfers mail to my sendmail domain, (it is configured to use
localhost as mail server), while Mutt invokes sendmail. Where can be the
problem.
Also what mail client would you recommend? Netscape is fine except it + X is a
bit
too heavyweight for my rather antique home computer, and besides, I kept
hearing
people saying how cool Mutt is, so I decided to try. I still can't figure out
how to set it to save all incoming messages in one mailbox except those coming
from mailing lists, which should be put in different mailboxes for each list.
Another question, how to make Mutt (or Netscape) to scan messages already saved
in default mailbox and move messages from mailing list to different box.
Thanks in advance for any help.
I copy here headers of message sent from Netscape and successfully appeared in
mailing list (as they came from back mailing list) and headers of message sent
from Mutt and disappeared(as they appear in saved messages box).
