about 2.5 years ago or so I started noticing all the brand new LUG sites
on the net, and told the group, as a joke, that LUG-IL and ILLUG look
funny, and we should call it ILUG. that's an obvious joke, I thought,
because pgonetically in Hebrew "ee-Loog" sounds bad, or more aptly, lame.
and worse, since we were for some short period discussing making this the
"Israel & Palestine LUG", it would have created PILUG (literally,
politically, etc. - idea dropped for no practical reason).
bottom line: we need a nice catchy acronym, that has no negative sound in
semitic (or latin) languages, so it can be used officially by papers and
show organizers.. LUGI is cute. IsraLUG is a bit long, and sounds almost
commercial...
IGUL = Israeli Group (of) Users (of) Linux?
Israeli Group (of) Unix & Linux?
and if we ever become an Amuta: (Hebrew acronyms for IGUL)
Amutat Unix, GNU Ve-Linux
GILI: GILI Is Linux Israel
GILGUL: GILGUL Is Linux Group (of) Usears (in) israeL
HOLY : HOLY Organization of Linux Yisrael
(man, I should be a copyrighter :-)
HOLE : Holyland Organization of Linux Efficianados
(ok, I'm running out of ideas)
want to offer more, and take a vote?
