0. Power failures
=================

On Passover, power failures are expected in the Givat Ram campus,
so this list will be down part of the time.

1. Mailing list setup
=====================

*** a. Subscribe confirmations

Yes. You will have to send confirmation messages when
subscribing or unsubscribing.

*** b. Closed posting

You will need to be subscribed to the list in order to post. The
"From:" header is what is checked. I don't see any good reason
to set up the list any other way. If anybody does, tell me.

*** c. Digests

Several digest schemes were proposed:

	(i) Issue the digest daily.
(ii) Issue the digest daily, unless it grows more than
100 (?) KB, in which case issue immediately.

If nobody objects, I will chose the option (i). Time and size
may be changed.

1. Subscription, etc. instructions
==================================

These instructions will be valid only when I move this list to
Listar, which will be announced separately.

All the "control" messages must be sent to
linux-il-request@cs.huji.ac.il (I think that Jonathan Ben-Avraham
will set up the address linux-il-request@linux.org.il as an
alias). The commands must appear on the body of the message,
terminated either by the word "end" or by "-- " (the signature
delimeter). Or by the end-of-message, of course. Alternatively,
if you send only one command, it may appear in the subject of the
message, in which case the body won't be checked for commands.

I (the list owner) will be reachable by e-mail at:
linux-il-owner@cs.huji.ac.il
(and maybe, linux-il-owner@linux.org.il).

*** Get help

The best way to get help is to send the following commands in one
message:

help
commands
flags
end

*** Subscribe

Either:
	subscribe your@e-mail.addr
or:
	add your@e-mail.addr
The e-mail address is optional.

*** Unsubscribe

Either:
	unsubscribe your@e-mail.addr
or:
	remove your@e-mail.addr
or:
	del your@e-mail.addr
The e-mail address is optional.

*** Get digested version of the list

set DIGEST

*** Get both digested and normal versions of the list

set DIGEST2

*** Stop digests, only get the normal version

	unset DIGEST
or:
	unset DIGEST2
depending on what you did.

*** Don't get the copies of your own posts

unset ECHOPOST

*** Get "ACK" (message for the list successfully received)

set ACKPOST

*** Don't get mail

set VACATION
unset VACATION

The VACATION flags means that the user must not receive mail from
the list, until the flag is unset.

*** The end

Vadik.
