WinLinux
A third "simultaneous Linux and Windows by virtualing x86-machines"
package, WinLinux from JRCP, joins the earlier published packages
Win4Lin (from TreLos, a following project of the Merge, which was the
first one to provide virtual x86-machines, years before VMware), and
VMware (from...VMware). The software will be released commercially at
November.
As I predicted in the Linux Conference (half a year ago), when we
could only dream of ways to throw the other machine on our desks,
dedicated especially for Windows, there are now many options to
simultaneously run Linux and Windows; In addition to these three
packages, Wine (finally...) begins to be a little useful, and there
are (free AND commercial) ways to compile Windows code under Linux
(e.g. Twine, the half Israeli product "MainWin" which is close to a
beta, and others). And according to rumors (shshshsh!) Microsoft will
release a Linux sub-system for Win2000 in a few months, based on
Interix, a technology of the recently acquired company - Softway.
So no more compromises!
