You give too little information but I make an educated guess about the
cdrom drive being a SCSI drive (maj. no. 8) and your running an install
image without SCSI support for that particular SCSI adapter you have.

Find out what adapter you have (can you mount the cd once you have booted
?) and then consult the documentation about SCSI support for your adapter,
and then do what the docs say.
