Thanks for your explanation. It was very informative. I didn't
understand, though, why are RR extensions needed for multi-session to
work with mkisofs. According to what you wrote, mkisofs reads the
directory entries for the previous sessions to merge it into the
current session, and if there are RR extensions there, it merges them
too. But why are RR extensions *required* for multi-session? The
README.multi of cdrecord says:
Use the -R flag to add Rock Ridge extensions (this is important).
According to your explanation multi-session could've worked without RR
extensions too. No?
