Google is the clear winner on "relevance". Usually, the first or the
second match is what you need, if you bother to express you wishes clearly
and Google has it. Altavista is the size king, AFAIK, but it is in fact a
huge pile of trash if you don't know how to play with "+" and "-" and
"NEAR", etc. Yahoo will help if you need a linklist or you exactly know
what do you need, just not remember what is the URL.
YBd>> The places I gave are on debian. Can a RH user give the relevant?
The same, but RPM stores the databases not in plaintext, so you may use
rpm -qvai and grep it. Also you may use RPM repository at
rufus.w3.org/linux/RPM/ (IIRC). The dood trick is that if you type the URL
rufus.w3.org/linux/RPM/<package>.html, you get the list of all instances
of RPM <package> or anything that contains capability <package> - from all
RPM-ized distributions.

Well, one can just file:/usr/doc/ if it is the thing that you mean...
