I don't know about any custom; I only remember that 64MB were sold
for $40 (!) in Israel (!) on June. I even have old price lists with
this price (for 100MHz of course, not 66MHz).
The only difference I know between Israel and America in SDRAMs, is
that there is a delay of 2-3 weeks. This caused me to believe that
the current prices in Israel ($100-$140 for 64MB, $200-$270 for 128)
will drop in 2-3 weeks to the current American prices ($50-$70 for
64MB, $120-$140 for 128MB, according to pricewatch.com). If there
will not be any earth-quake and no effect of Y2K, then nothing will
stop the American prices, so the prices in Israel may also drop to
levels of $40 for 64MB, and $80 for 128MB, sometimes in January.
In any case, don't forget: As long as you are willing to pay so much,
sellers will continue to charge you these crazy prices (this is one
of the reasons for the delay).
