I agree with you.  I use perl only (well, mostly) for text
processing, and my opinion is that for this purpose, perl is a
very powerful tool.  However, its syntax is hairy, unintuitive,
non-consistent, and ugly.  OTOH, it's more popular than python,
which basically means that it will run almost everywhere (because
you can hardly find a site which doesn't have perl (at least
version 4) installed nowadays).  Which doesn't mean it's good.

So I've been told, but I didn't have the time to look into
python.  Willing to learn.

And I'm not a big fan of Marjordomo.
