You need not even reboot, just become root (via sudo or su) and
use tune2fs to change any fs options on-the-fly. I recommend you to
increase maximal mount counts to ~100, interval check usually enough long
by default (~6 months). So, just issue at command prompt:
tune2fs -c 100 /dev/hdaX
Where X - is a number of you ext2 partition. Zeu. :)
p.s. if you want examine you current settings type tune2fs -l /dev/hdaX
