Linux+PPP+Xwindows problem

May I ask help on the following problem?

I run RedHat 5.2 and make succesfull PPP connection by dialback to Technion.
It works properly, for example ftp works.

However, after I enable PPP, I cannot open ANY window on my machine, say
`xterm', etc. I get messages like
	~ > nxterm
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
	Error: Can't open display: :0.0

This does not go away when I disconnect PPP, only by shutdown and reboot.
Moreover, when I log out, xdm shows a login prompt to
	access1-xx.technion.ac.il,
which is probably the machine which makes the PPP connection, and not to my
machine (localhost.localmachine)!
I tried env > file1 before PPP is enabled and again env > file2
after PPP runs, and compared: diff file1 file2
There is no difference between the two!

More details: I did not change any defaults, shell=bash, window manager is
fvwm.

What can I try?
Thanks,
