It does, and does it very well. I dont know about ATI's support etc' but
the XFree X-server for Xpert, Mach64 chipset (I heared there are newer
chipsets today(?)), is, on my experience, stable. (my rpm X-Server:
XFree86-Mach64-3.3.3.1-52)

Be careful! there are local cards here which are using unsupported
chipsets (currently) like Aurel Vortex A3D - on Octav sound cards (some
of Octav cards, at least, use it).
About Creative - SB16, 64 and I'm almost sure that SB128 too, will all
perform the necessary beeps (and ofcourse more than that - like MP3
playing).
There are other very chip no-name cards in our market that I would have
checked carefully before buying.
