You can set any vesa text mode, or mode supported by your card's bios at
startup, see /usr/src/linux/Documentation/svga.txt.
If you want to change while running linux, look for SVGATextMode.
If that does not support your card, svgalib might help you, mail me for 
details (its not documented yet, and only works on some cards).
