On the intel platform their is usually a boot floppy image in the
/images
directory. I am not sure if this is the case with Sparc. If it is,
then
you would just issue a command like:
dd if=boot.img of=(flopy device)
to generate the boot floppy, and then you would boot off of it.
There should be a sparc installation guide at the Red Hat site. That
would be your best source though for definitive Sparc installation
instructions.
As an aside, I too have several Sparc systems where I work, and have
wondered for a long time what would make one choose Linux over Solaris?
I am definitely not against it, certainly the porting process must have
been fun, but I still don't understand the pluses and minuses of either
enough to choose between them. I think Linux works great, and I think
Solaris does also. What made you want to put Linux on your Sparc?

To unsubscribe, send mail to linux-il-request@linux.org.il with
the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command
echo unsubscribe | mail linux-il-request@linux.org.il
