Hehehe...
Try to tell that to the officers there...
I also read that page before ordering from Cheap*Bytes. It didn't
help me when it was received here.
According to various documents that the custom has on the web:
1. Thanks to an Amana between Israel and America, every American
computing product should be free from taxes etc.
2. Any software product, from anywhere, should be free from taxes.
3. Shipping should not a part of the taxed price. Imagine that you
travel to America, and one day you decide to buy a Cheap*Bytes
for $1.89; Will the custom charge you for the ticket ???
In addition, no Mas-Hachnassa should be charged; It is an expense,
not an income, and it is STRICTLY PROHIBITED by international
Amanot.
But the Israeli custom violates all the rules:
1. "It came from America? So what? Show me a "Certificate of
Origin"; It costs only a few hundreds of Dollars"...
2. "It is not a software; It is a CDROM".
3. "Price is $1.89 and shipping is $30 ??? I know to read
invoices, but you and this f**king CheapBytes are cheaters! Of
course I'll charge you a tax for this 'shipping', and if you
try this nasty cheat again, I'll call the police!".
4. If the cost is high, say > $1000, they will charge you 33% (!)
Mass-Hachnassa !!!
5. Sometimes, in some shipping methods, the product may stay at
Maman; They are not so diligent there, and it can stay there
even a week, even after very fast shippings of 24-48 hours from
America to Israel! Do you think that anybody will compensate
you for this time ?? Haha... Maman will charge you for each
day! It reminds me Chazal's stories about Sdom VaAmora...
Adding legal charges, like Maam (VAT), travels and time, phones
and ordering, extra packages in mass orders (for replacements of
deffective CDs), cost of re-distribution in case you are going to
sell it to other people, etc., I get to the cost of about 60
Sheqels in Israel, for resellers. Not to mention that Dollar is not
4 Sheqels, and even not the Yatzig, but much higher (when you buy
it; When you sell Dollars, it is much lower), and not to mention
the expenses of credit cards and the other payment methods when you
sell the product, etc.

You are right! Their calculation is wrong! Theis cost is much
higher than 40 NIS. But why do you tell everybody? Do you want
them to find out their mistake and to higher the price? It was
better if you could be more silent, or just buy this good deal
before they regret.
You ask why Jonathan charges similar prices? In the case of
Jonathan, it is simple: He loves us, so he subsidizes the prices.
P.S. Sometimes, mainly in small orders (of one or two CDs), they
"don't notice" your package; But don't count on it: When I
received my "free" Solaris package, I paid a lot for it in Israel,
even that it was only one unit.
