RedHat 6.1 bug
I've found a redhat 6.1 installer bug:
If you upgrade your system, redHat 6.1 will crash if you have an NTFS
partition on the same disk as your root partition, but before it (I have an
NTFS partition on /dev/sdb5 and my root is /dev/sdb6, for example).
The bug is in /misc/src/anaconda/balkan/dos.c, where they forgot a "break"
instruction after line 141:
switch (table->parts[i].type) {
case 0x01:
case 0x04:
case 0x06:
case 0x0b:
case 0x0c:
case 0x0e:
case 0x0f:
table->parts[i].type = BALKAN_PART_DOS;
break;
case 0x7:
table->parts[i].type = BALKAN_PART_NTFS;
+ break; // <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
case 0x83:
table->parts[i].type = BALKAN_PART_EXT2;
break;
One solution is to disable the NTFS partition by changing it's type to some
other type. I've yet to check the "export" mode to see if it bypasses the
problem.
