Ira, the HOWTOs are outdated. While it might be okay when installing a
line-printer, it doesn't work when dealing with security. Security has
developed much since the HOWTOs were written, and anyone who configures
his/hers computer by HOWTO alone is a fool (or a hacker/cracker target just
waiting for attack)

And two more thing about the "precious" RTFM:

1. Using the ip-masquerade HOWTO will not get you a working IP masquerading
machine (at least not under Redhat 5.x). Just to name one fix needed: the
IP_FORWARD flag should be set to "1".
2. If you keep telling people "RTFM" who will be left on the list? I'll tell
you who: people who know Linux so well they don't really need this list (except
for their social need, and the way this list is turning out to be, it's mainly
for social needs now).
