Now seriously, folks.  I use mostly vi, but for some tasks I use
ed.  Both of them, as well as emacs, are powerful editors.

But telling the guy to use pico was a mistake, IMO.  Pico is the
most stupid and featureless editor I've ever seen (apart from ee
or whatever it was called, which was (I hope it's no more) the
only editor on the Debian inatallation disks).  No, don't tell me
about DOS edit, I'm talking about UNIX here.

To a beginner, I advise to start with emacs.  It's powerful, and
easy to start with (easier than vi).
