Re: Rh 6 Vs Other Distros

sorry about the hebrew font on my name
1) Well What i ment with the first msg was that the red hat distro is
clouded with alot of deamons and
its kind of slugish with it many people would however prefer to customize
thier distrobution
and EVEN with a basic red hat install u get all kind of deamons runing in
the background.
2) but with xfree first of all xfree is not the most stable gui system on
linux its really buggy
when trying to configure it with a graphics card and many cards simply dont
work right on xfree
allthough most times its the combination of configuring the graphics card
and the screen just right
what i discoverd is that Xconfiguratore (a Red hat progie) will always fail
to detect a graphics card
the only thing that does seem to work is runing xf86setup(the console prog)
and then to run
XF86Setup (the xfree setup server) and then it'l do the job, but still xfree
is not strong with graphics
just try to switch while in xfree to the console and see the debug lines of
xfree ( do it with ctrl +alt +f1(tty)).
3) about gnome its not a stable window manager like kde but its really nice
looking.
and by the way my box is great to and in winXXX i dont have any problems
only on xfree it gets stuck
oh and can some on tell me where can i get iso8859-8 fonts for xfree and i
dont mean webad or webmonospace fonts .
4) even though slackware is freebsd i think that its faster then rh or any
linux distro's
RED hat is more to new users and slackware is more stable as a server os.
cya
