Well, I have a similar config (2940UW driving SCSI HD's units 0/1, with a
CD-RW and a Tape on units 2/3, and an IDE CDROM). Installing RH 6.0 went
smooth, booting from the IDE CD.

I remember reading on Usenet that a lot of troubles regarding the 2940 were
solved by flashing the card to the latest BIOS version. I'm not sure it would
help your case (which looks more like a bad CD - did you burn it yourself off
the net?).
