Sorry if I did.

Okay. I picked it up when 10BaseT was mentioned and you claimed
12Mb/s and 13Mb/s. No 13Mb/s for 10BaseT.

True. However look at it this way: when you have a decoder on
your PC (software or hardware), it accesses the DVD drive via
IDE interface. So in theory, you can separate the decoder from
the DVD ROM, provided you have a "transparent" bridging of all
IDE interface commands. This is not "normal" drive networking.
I can *not* speculate on whether this will or won't work if
you just mount the DVD ROM drive somewhere (NFS, or a Win9x
drive letter) and let the decoder run. Could be easily tested
though. I would assume that some commands will fail (i.e., check
DVD region code and suchlike).

Yeah, well. The context was:
>AFAIK mpegII is 6-12 Mbits/Sec (which may pass via 10BaseT)
>my nics are 13Mbits/s so it should be enough
in which you imply that 10BaseT can take 12Mb/s. This is why
I jumped in, in the first place...
Sorry for extending an off-topic thread.
