Do you also use gpm ? if yes, it is described in the gpm manual that gpm
and X can't share the ps/2 mouse. you should either remove gpm or
configure it in repeater mode (gpm -R). In this mode gpm provides a
simulated mousesystems mouse at /dev/gpmdata and you can set X to use
that. it works perfectly for me and other customers and solves all mouse
and X problems.
If you don't use gpm, perhaps you didn't choose the correct mouse protocol
for X ? Perhaps you should compile you own X or at least use the RPMs
provided by RH ?
