Re: M$ IL latest craze

Well, it depends how you look at it...

Here in Israel, we have the culture of "Build it yourself". You see many people
buying PC's - and their friends helps them either to build it, or to upgrade
it..

The american type person buys the computer directly from a vendor, and gets
Windows AND OFFICE built in, and many times he/she doesn't have any problems.
Ofcourse - he/she got much better service than Israel.

If you try to buy here in Israel a PC with windows installed (I'm talking about
buying from Packard Bell, Newron, Philips, HP etc), you'll get 99% of the time
the Hebrew version of windows (not localized) which will gives you ALL the
troubles that you can and cannot expect (start from drivers, late upgrades,
incompatibilites etc)..

Ofcourse, you should consider that, for example: MS Office (not professional)
costs something like 1,800 NIS. Do you see any insane Israeli (who is not an
organization) who will buy this? The american consumer gets it for free with his
computer (look at Dell's, HP, Gateway web stores).

So what MS thinks? It reminds me a bit of our today's situation with the music
industries..

If they don't lower the price - people will copy...
