This one if for the FAQ, I think
Hi All,
Here is a baffeling problem. I have a RH6 machine, kernel 2.2.12 that
works with IP aliasing. The eth0 NIC is a 3com PCI (Boomrang) card.
Here is the baffeling part, for no aparent reason, the system stops
responding to connections, either ping or anything else.
Just to add to the confusion, when that happens, sometimes the IP alias
remains active, enabling me to connect to the system and restart the
network script. But again, I can't see any visible pattern in the
persistance of the problem.
I've checked the FAQ and some other sites, and no one ever encountered
such a problem before, at least from what I've heard of.
If anyone has ideas, they are welcome to share them. This matter is of
ought most importance, as that machine is a DNS and Mail server.
Best regards,
Nir Simionovich
