RE: sound configuration in suse 6.2. ?

I saw the book. it describes the whole process of ispnp and etc, or OSS
driver installation. I saw it.
it just looks strange to me that a great distribution like SUSE doesn't have
a simple tool like redhat has (SNDCONFIG).
In redhat all I have to do is run sndconfig and I have a sound card
configured and installed. no kernel building, no messing with conf.modules
and no ispnp or OSS.
I know how to do it. I just thought there must be something obvious and
direct as sndconfig.
