A Brief Look at Me....
[*] [picture of haifa]
This is the celestial body that I live on. My GPS says that I'm usually near the coordinates N39° 01' and W077° 06' Check out the city of my birth, Haifa, Israel. A pleasant city on the Eastern Mediterranean.

GNU/Linux is my favorite operating system. I'm a great admirer of open-source developers around the world for giving us such wonderful software. Download the latest kernel now! Tel-Aviv. My favorite city. It never sleeps. Walk along the Mediterranean with a nice woman. Drink some espresso. Listen to Shlomo Artzi or Aviv Gefen

Part of my work has been to do advanced simulations of collective systems in physics. This includes 1-d and 2-d fluid and MHD codes, 2-d and 3-d particle-in-cell codes for plasmas, and N-body codes for simulating galactic structure. For many of these calculations, I once used expensive supercomputers, like the Cray J90 here at the Weizmann Institute. Nowadays, I'm just thinking of making my own Beowulf cluster! I always listen to music, especially if it involves someone as hot-looking as Etti Ankri (one of her CD's is shown above). I also like (of course) John Coletrain, Bach, Muddy Waters, Five for Fighting, Dave Mathews Band, Brahms, etc. I'm very eclectic ;-)
Chicago Gas Mask
This is the city that I grew up in, and that I have the fondest memories of. Chicago is a very beautiful, liveable, and friendly city. The images of its skyline, and the memories of the Outer Drive, Buckingham Fountain, the Art Institute, Lake Michigan, and of course, the Chicago Cubs, are forever a part of me. Here is a picture of me during the First Gulf War in 1991. I'm in my office in the Physics Department at Ben-Gurion University in Beersheva, Israel. For me, the worst thing about the war was hearing those awful air raid sirens at night and seeing my 7-year old son cry (especially during the first night when we didn't know if the missles were carrying poison gas).
Van Gogh Starry Night Washington Monument
Some of the things I like are strolling down European boulevards, seeing the paintings of Van Gogh or the sculpture of Rodin. Reading Baudelaire and Shakespeare. Trying to communicate in American Sign Language, Chinese, French, or Arabic. Hearing women laugh. I am now living in the Washington DC area. It's the political capital of the world. Nice place for Ultimate Frisbee too. Good Metro. Terrible weather and horrible traffic. People are o.k., especially if they're from the District.
