Del.icio.us is a
social bookmarking
site that allows a user to store
and share his/her bookmarks on a public
server. The simplicity and beauty of the
concept is such that I was annoyed
with myself for not thinking up the idea
in the first place :-).
I use the site Del.icio.us because of its simple web design and its capabilities
to manage my bookmarks from any location.
It also aggregates all user links in order
to rank the most popular links, and
provides a real-time stream of every
new bookmark added to the site. This
latter feature gives a snapshot
of what sites are currently important
to the community. |

This Eastern European Jewish
family in the painting by
Alexander
Vaisman looks a lot like the family I was born
into :-). Hence, in some ways, I think I know these people. Which
is probably not a good thing.
And the Nobel-prize winning author
Isaac
Bashevis Singer might have written a lot of hugely dysfunctional
things about the family in the picture! Here are some links to some
of my family:

Because of the Internet, we all live in an interconnected, but
vast community, a shtetl of global proportions. All of us benefit
from the interactions, and I am lucky to live in a world where I can learn
from such intelligent wanderers as +ORC (of
+HCU fame) and Fravia.
Let's not forget the contributions that the open-source movement
and Richard Stallman's GNU have made to the world.
Or Linus Torvald's Linux kernel. Nowadays, my one goal in life is
to be slashdotted :-)
