2D interferometry
Both the PLIF and the 1D chordal interferometer systems are inadequate for testing high-pressure (~100 bar) valves with small (~1 mm exit diameter) nozzles. The relatively low (~0.25 bar) maximum vapor pressure of acetone makes high pressure gas-acetone mixtures too poor for PLIF images, and the spatial resolution of the chordal interferometer is insufficient for the small gas-puff produced.
